Ruben Amorim - Manchester United Head Coach

Might not get to the summer if we're not careful - we're losing every single game bar that City freak game.

I get this argument…. But it’s not as black and white as that.

If there is a way we can finish higher, win more games… maybe even compete for a cup… all that will help the squad build in the summer.

Bedding in a system is all well and good, but it will be with the same old shite players if we come bottom half.
If this club is not planning a mass clear out, then they better sack the coach now.

Garnacho is back in the squad. Pick up as he offers pace and an attacking threat. Amad on the wing. Or try even 2 strikers with Bruno behind. There are other options.
He may have more pace but he hasn't been training or conducting himself well according to Amorim. You're playing into the mess the club is in by allowing players to do what they want as unprofessional as it is and then picking them on matchday. We've seen where that leads us.

So much toxicity. If anything, this proves what a hopeless group of players this is. He's a good coach and will fix it, if given time.

I truly believe that there is no coach in the world, including prime versions of retired ones like SAF that would be able to come mid season and get this group of players to acceptable/top 4 level.
Can he not phase in his style of play a bit? He's seeming very unpragmatic in his approach. We're a team everyone in the league is capable of beating.
He makes more substitutions and earlier than ETH. But not sure how you phase in a back 3 for example. Unfortunately this season isn't about winning, it's about who is up for the fight, who fits in. The negativity on this forum is ridiculous. You should have been around under Dave Sexton...

I can accept him binning Rashford and to an extent Garnacho, but if you are bold enough to do that, you need an alternative goal source. I just don’t see where the next goal is coming from now that we’re two men light. It’s a massive gamble on his behalf.

Anyone pinning this on the new manager just isn't worth listening to. We preach patience but realistically our fanbase is as fickle as they come, Amorim turned round a bigger mess at Sporting, he's not even had a winter transfer window yet. INEOS seem well aware we need a clear out, everyone except United fans seem to acknowledge the wider context of the mess the club is in yet there's already talk about him not being the right man for the job or that he might not make it to the end of the season. Just ridiculous, absolutely ridiculous. Being part of this fan base just makes me not enjoy supporting United most of the time, it's exhausting.

We were statistically one of the worst sides in the league last season, we then gave that historically abysmal manager another season, let him tank this season and wonder why we're still struggling in December.

People in here need to wind their neck in. Clamoring for 4-2-3-1 as if we weren't sitting in 13th position when ETH got sacked. This squad is full of overpaid lazy arseholes who can't even do the basics. We have tried all types of managers, with wildly varying playstyles and they have all failed. Problem IS the squad, our underlyings had us in 13th last year. It is not a coincidence.

It also doesn't help he came here in the busiest period when there is game every 2-3 days. It is an incredibly tough ask.

People who are whining about a relegation battle need banning for their own stupidity, there are 3 extremely shit clubs in PL this season who are certains to go down. We will have a tough season and probably finish with the worst finish in PL era but we have to rip off the band aid. Sacking managers and hiring a quick fix won't solve our long term issues which is with the squad.
Absolutely agree!
How can anyone witness the slow motion car crash that has been the Glazers ownership and blame a manager that has been in charge for a handful of games. We should not rest until the despicable financial vampires are gone, please, everyone, do not forget what that family has done to this once great club!

Why are we talking like these players have been successful playing another style?
The last manager left us in 13 after finishing 8th last season.
And I’m speaking as someone who didn’t want ETH sacked.
These players are cooked regardless of coach or formation. We need a clear out. Everything until that happens is secondary.
You don’t employ a coach to play a style then tell him to abandon it because shit players are struggling.

The results are exactly the same now as they were playing 4-2-3-1 under ETH. This squad of players is lower mid table quality and has been at that level all season. The players who were carrying us previously (Dalot, Mainoo, Garnacho etc) have all dropped off a performance cliff.

And Ruben has had what, two months?? But yeah, let’s judge him because of the failings of ETH on squad building etc.

I’m not judging him… I want to succeed. And I’m not even necessarily saying I think he shouldn’t play his system to bed it in.

I’m just correcting everyone who keeps rolling out the “cos 4231 worked so well for ETH?!” line.

Yes. It did. Just to reiterate.

3rd

A cup

Another final

A European quarter.

Then for some unknown reason he changed it… and we were crap for 18 months.

Then Ruud brought 4231 back briefly. And we were good again.

Now Ruben has got rid. And we are crap again.

Thems the facts I’m afraid.

The mess we're in now is 100% down to the FA Cup win... the butterfly effect from that win, has caused so much damage to our current season and situation. ETH should've been sacked during the summer and a new manager (Amorim I guess) should've been given time and money to prepare. This season, PL at least, is a write off sadly.

He was (and we were) really lucky with that City game. If not for those flukey three points, we’d be in an actual relegation battle at the moment. We’d never actually go down but the optics would be difficult to defend.

He’s back in the squad so he’s clearly said he has been training better. Personally I would be playing 4-3-3 a 4-2-3-1 as we are better when we have the wide attacking players.

You’d hope that he’s been given assurances that we’re buying players in January, especially if he’s going to stick with his 3-4-3 system. Implementing a whole new system into a squad mid-season is about as hard as it gets, especially with the number of games we have and the expectations. He’s running the Space Shuttle program with a team more used to doing deep sea expeditions.

We will be after Newcastle and Liverpool beat us

Why should it be a write off? Which other clubs would suddenly write off the whole season. He’s got plenty of time left until the end of the season. Writing off the season is stupid. He needs to find a system and team that works and start winning games.

He's absolutely the right manager, but he needs to be able to grind out results too.

However much we all may like a clear out, it's going to be very hard to do when club's won't be able to attract the deadwood on wages they're willing to offer. A manager is going to have to find a way of playing with this squad, rather than just to a style that doesn't work for them.

We have no attacking threat from anyone in the team. Until we fix that we get what we deserve.

This was how it was before he arrived and he's had no time to train and no new players

As i said after Spurs. Until our manager makes a rant about refs, all 50:50 decisions will go against us.

We have to be willing to bring 6-7 new players for his system to really work, otherwise it’s going to be very painful.

That said we probably need 6-7 new first team players anyway, and Amorim has had it super rough with players mistakes and results so far.

We've had a pathetic return from our attack in recent years but they're capable of being better than this.

A coach has to be pragmatic in situations like this and we're not seeing it from this guy at the moment. Add to that his recent baffling isolation of Casemiro which looks like a shocking decision as he's our best midfielder.

I don't agree with this. Get rid of who needs to go and replace with cheaper options. They genuinely cannot be any worse.

This just isn't true though, considering how little we'd get for a lot of these players, the cheaper options would be championship players.
