Ruben Amorim - Manchester United Head Coach

Really? What I find embarrassing is lots of posters piling in for no reason, just because he supported a manager longer than those posters. It's all a bit childish imo.

But it's not about the support for ETH. He gave ETH a lot of leeway for poor performances/results, but after a good performance/win today at the Etihad, he's downplaying it and saying it was fortunate by Amorim.

It just genuinely comes off like a WUM.

That said, we should all enjoy the win today since it was a great result.

I agree his overall play needs improving.

I think under Amorim, with the limited training he has shown improvements, his link up play does leave a lot to be desired in moments.

I believe he is going to be a top striker, might be wrong, I also think the fact we are holding possession higher means he isn’t having to drop as deep as much, meaning he’s closer to goal.
I believe the same too, he'll get there we just have to be patient.

What difference does that make in practice though? He hasn’t even signed anyone yet. So his job to date has been exactly the same as any other manager we’ve ever had. And when it comes down to it, I’d be amazed if he isn’t involved in decisions about what his squad is going to look like after the next transfer window.

He's actually said he'll have a big say in transfers.

It's just trendy to want a manager who only coaches. Doubt that actually happens all that much.

So in just over a month as United manager in the middle of the season. Ruben Amorim has

- Won by 4 goals in over 2 years.
- Won first game away in Europe in over a year
- Won at city away in god knows how long
- Implemented his style and has made us better positionally and with the ball
- Dropped the divas in the team

The man is a genius.
First post in years just to agree with this. Legend Ruben

I’m certain he supports Amorim just as much as he did ETH, but I also understand the feeling of doubt having been burned in the past. It will take a lot for some of us to be convinced, because for months the Caf told us ETH was the one, before they turned on him. There’s no harm in being circumspect until tangible progress is observed.

I'm amazed at the way the media is talking about him. Some have already started discussing whether he's running out of time. Honestly the fans are far more patient than those hacks.

Its engagement, they really don’t give a feck it’s just to stir shit amongst the fans.

I see the vision for this team. Get a CM and two more attackers and this team looks completely different.

You can clearly see he what he wants. He’s also solved the two biggest things that made us easy to play against under ETH. We can now keep possession away from home against top teams and we have the energy, physicality and pressing to match teams that we face week in week out. Those two things are absolutely needed and once you add his tactics and system that’s where you can see what he’s building with this team.

The best thing he’s done so far though is what he said in the interview when asked about Amad today. He made sure to mention that at this club we build young players up to undeserved levels off the back of a few good performances and was important to not repeat this with Amad and to build the spirit of consistency and continuous improvement. I felt it was a clear jab at the club regarding Rashford and Garnacho. The fact he dropped both clearly shows he believes their ego and status in the team has gone unchecked.

He definitely feels different to all other post SAF managers.

Think about it logically - Ineos are basically signing U23s (Amorim likely won’t know much about any of them unless they come from Liga NOS) or choice older players, Maz/De Ligt, where there’s some value proposition they deem worth it (Very specific and I imagine a rarer type of transfer with Ineos). All the time spent with scouts and data and agents and DoFs etc is gone. Vivell now runs that whole side and reports up to Berrada.

I feel like you’re thinking of recruitment as if we’re playing Football Manager - naturally Vivell/Berrada aren’t purposefully blanking him and he’ll just turn up to Carrington and new player will just be there. He’ll give an opinion but he’s now right at the bottom of the filter, which is how it should be. He can say yes or no and Berrada will take that into account.

Really surprised with how full of praise Danny Murphy’s comments were on him on motd2. Seemed to genuinely like him

I'm very impressed with Amorim. I knew of him and his achievements before he took the united job, but had never heard him speak or seen his style of play.

Hes won me over on both counts. He has that charisma and communication skill that all good managers have. His tactics appear solid. Weve looked comfortable in most games bar the corners at Arsenal.

I hope that he has learned more about the players and keeps Mazraoui on the right. Maguire can be reintroduced now we dont play so high up the pitch. Amad has found his role as one of the two AMC's and even Anthony is beginning to pick up.

We just need a couple more quality match winners in the squad and we can push on and compete for 4th spot. The next 3 games are all winable.

My professional analysis of the Manchester City game is Amorim has possession of the time stone. He replayed the game 50305 times and decided to drop Rashford and Garnacho and played the winning team. There was simply no scenario of United winning when either was in the team.

Funny how the derbies under Ferguson before 92/93 don't count because football hadn't been invented yet.
Wilf McGuinness, 1-4, (Matt Busby 4-3)Frank O'Farrell, 3-3, Tommy Docherty, 0-0, Dave Sexton 1-3, Ron Atkinson 0-0, Alex Ferguson, 2-0. That's how it has played out since Sir Matt retired, except for the half-season after Wilf and we beat them at Maine Road in the last game of the season.

Was posted by the Premier League page so generally they rarely acknowledge that English football did in fact exist at the highest level before then

First time in ages that we have a play style/system and I’m loving it. Looking forward to every game you know what you can excpect atleast. We’re screwed if Amad gets injured though.

He did what ETH did not. Dropped those under performers. Even better, dropped them completely from the squad. Hope this will be a wake up call for them.

Now that our CBs are back, Mazraoui should continue as RWB and Amad is perfect at his role now. Both are so adaptable. My players of the season so far.

I mean this is obviously nonsense. I really like our intent to actually play compared to under previous managers and we definitely deserved at least a point and maybe just about all 3 but posting about "dominance" and "battering" after that game is just silly. The key is that the plan is right even if the execution isn't yet because of the limited time on the training ground and due to many of the players not being good enough (for instance we desperately need more from the wing backs even though I really like Mazraoui as a right centre back and a rotation option for right wing back).

We kept form and intensity and play style for so long and it paid off late, no panics. I was amazed to see us play so resilient. Glory to Ruben Amorim!

He has really become a problem for defenders now. He has improved in the way he uses his body to shield the ball and force fouls on him.
Great attitude because he doesn't shy now from a fight and a tussle.
