Ruben Amorim - Manchester United Head Coach

Amorim "the players are all internationals" happy face

Amorim "how are any these internationals" sad face

This should give him an idea of what he's got to work with here. If there was any doubt in his mind that some of the current roster aren't suitable for his style and intensity, this should've been a bit of a wakeup call.

That's the point in the system, full backs the attack and stretch the opposition defence.
Did not look like it at all. They were barely involved. I did watch a bunch of youtube videos on how his previous team played, and they are involved in the attack once thy get control and are in the final third breaking down the opponent. That is a poor use of Amad.

Pretty telling he was urging them to go for the winner in the last few minutes. Our intensity over the whole game is way behind the top teams.

He played our best attacking player at wing back, honestly baffling.

And he was still our best attacking option and got an assist let’s not start this shit

Once the system clicks he’s only a wing back on paper against the likes of these teams he’s a winger

It’s one game in. Have you heard of patience?

The reality is if we ever do win the league under Amorim there’ll only be 2/3 players from this current squad that will be involved.

Good system can make a good player even better, or hide some of player deficiencies but system can't teach players basics of football like passing or make them fit to run enough.

It's only game one. I would not necessarily expect Amad to keep playing that position, I think it made some sense today given that he wanted to keep most of the players who had been starting recently in the team

Lots of work to do perhaps unsurprisingly. The players looked quite content with a 1-1 draw at Ipswich. Amorin didn't.

Hopefully he makes them fully aware that it was unacceptable and nothing but victory is good enough, change the mindset early.

In terms of tactics and formations difficult to judge that yet after he has had at most 1 or 2 sessions with most of the players.

He will quickly realise the shit he has gotten himself into regarding this squad of players. His fate hinges on how quickly he disposes of some of them.

1 game, hope he learned by all those wrong decisions with the lineup.

Rashford, Case, Eriksen, Garnacho is nowhere near starting quality in the PL. Amad is our only threat, he needs to be closer to goal.

Fair enough, but I honestly see him much better centrally and Garnacho wide. Garnacho pretty much went wide every time he got the ball anyway.
Again there will be changes. We are short at the back so he had to move people around. I’m sure Amad will also play as one of the two #10s sometime soon.

Too early to read anything into anything. I'll start forming an opinion on him in a few months, like the previous lot

If nothing else this lineup shows how much work needs doing with the squad. Amorim’s hands are obviously massively tied with fitness and injuries, but I struggle to see how a midfield of Cas & Eriksen and a front line of Rashford, Bruno & Garnacho press well or keep the ball. Two of which seem to be his core principles. The quicker the likes of Mount, Urgarte, Mainoo, Yoro etc are able to play the sooner I think we’ll see his vision for the team.

We really do a need an proper overhaul in midfield and attack next summer though, no matter what the leaks say about a reduced budget etc etc

Went about as well as expected. As others have said, you can’t polish a turd. So much deadwood and players years past their best in this squad.

Hopefully this game has helped him learn and learn quirky who has no future at his club though. I’m looking at the likes of Evans, Eriksen, Casimero, Zirkzee.

Exactly this. He was going mad urging them to go for the winner. This lot are used to coasting and doing the bare minimum. He needs to stomp that shit out of their psyche asap.

If he’s ruthless, he’ll succeed. If it means dropping Bruno, Casemiro, Rashford or whoever else it may be, then that’s what he needs to do.

Amad was very good though. Garnacho was his usual frustrating self

I want to see Shaw as left wing back. Dalot isn’t good going forward when he is LB. We need the width and overlap from the LWB for this system to work.

Yep. I imagine Shaw will go to LWB and Martinez to LCB next game.

If he went with 4231 we win the game. 343 isnt going to work in the PL
We signed him because of what he can do, I rather lose games implementing his system than go back to the 4-2-3-1 that we know won't take us anywhere.

This season is a write off anyway, let's see which players can adapt and move on the ones who can't.

This is a reminder to everyone that this is not a quick fix. The December schedule is pretty tough so I expect UTD to continue to struggle for a while longer.I dont see us making top 4. Amorim despite what will be poor results has to focus on implementing his style this season. And next season on building on that style to get results. Predictably as UTD struggle, the media will harp on Amorim. So UTD fans need to stay patient. This is another transition season. We won't accomplish much. The important thing is the style of play is drilled into the players so next season we have a solid foundation to start on.
And if we can bring in players who fit the longterm in January, we should do it. Bring them, let them adjust when results are secondary.

He will quickly realise the shit he has gotten himself into regarding this squad of players. His fate hinges on how quickly he disposes of some of them.

He's not getting rid of any of them until at least the summer, although one or two may go out on loans this winter after he realizes he needs to eventually show them the door. Zirkzee for one, doesn't appear to have a future here.

In a way it is good to get reality check very early than a temporary bounce back camouflaging real issues.
