Ruben Amorim - Manchester United Head Coach

Guess two trainings are not enough to change everything, who would have known...
Some people really needs a little patience.

For this system to work with us, he needs a new LWB (unless Malacia somehow turns good). A new LAM(Garnacho doesn't seem to fit this style) and probably a new CF.

He’ll have learnt a lot about the squad today and the level of opposition he’ll be facing, as in even the promoted sides have the ability to give you a game even if you’re slightly off.

I get the feeling he knows it’s a mountain to climb, especially when he’s barely reacting to that goal within 90 seconds.

Don't envy you Ruby. It's going to take everything in your repertoire to get anything out of this bunch of clowns. We have an amazing amount of really bad players. I hope we start getting rid of some of them starting January. Evans, Casemiro, Eriksen, et al cannot be part of the squad next season. Dalot, Bruno, Rashford and Hojlund need to be relegated to the bench. Zirkzee should be sold at the first chance.

Zirkee just looks scared when the ball is played to him and he doesn’t have a clue what to do with it.

Not sure why the mods banished the ETH thread but what this game does is demonstrate how awful a manager Erik was both in squad building and deploying the philosophy of the team.

Despite spending circa 700 million (euros) United's attack is full of substitutes every single one of them; Garnacho (sub), Hojlund (sub), Zirkzee (sub), Rashford (sub) only Diallo is competent to be a first team player in the attack.

In all honesty if INEOS were ruthless all the above mentioned with exception of Garnacho should be looking to be sold and I'd throw Hojlund a loan to see how he fairs, if no good then get rid.

What United did in the summer with the defenders is exactly what needs to happen with all the forward players, as said only Diallo (arguably) is first team quality.

players are not good enough, then again that was obvious

good tactics/coaching will get this team 5-6th

but we need a lot of top players coming in as this team isn't quality

He doesnt have players able to retain ball. And they sre honestly a bit dumb and scared, also the amount of failed interceptions and tackles is ridiculous.

Can’t wait for Ruud was able to win when he took over game 1 why can’t Ruben do it.
I think we have to get used to him playing different players in various positions for a while. It’s part and parcel of having a new manager with a formation we don’t usually play

It will be interesting to see how this back 3 work in premier league. Unlike in Portugal difference between the team is not that huge and it could end up being 5 at the back most games. Also CB were so close all game, are they not expected to defend the wide areas in this formation?

Glad Amad got in the side. Hard worker and clearly will do whatever Amorim needs.

Garnacho and Rashford though. Surprised he started both. Naming two players with questionable team play and workmate in the front three was always going to make it a problem. One we might have been able to carry.

A lot of the subs he had to make in the 2nd half we're bringing in players who would have started but for the international break or injury return.

It's really sad that the best two attackers, Delap and Hutchinson, in the game were from a side that got promoted this season. All the money spent and we have a sorry excuse for an attack.

Shake of the head right before the kick off of the second half was probably a sudden realization of the task ahead.

To be honest I always saw this season as Amorim's time to suss the squad and implement a system.

I have no faith in this technically and mentally fragile squad delivering anything meaningful either way. But Amorim and the executives have make sure they have a stellar summer 2025 otherwise he / they will not last.

There was very little sign of a new manager bounce today.

Not sure about either the starting XI, which lacked legs in midfield, or some of the changes. For example, Zirkzee did not appear to add anything. While persisting with Garnacho was a bit surprising. Especially when we needed to get Amad closer to goal. Training performances maybe showing him more than we see from outside.

I think he's the right guy and that this will work out well. However, calling a spade a spade, today was no better than what we were producing under Ruud.

His frustration was good to see in a way but he's gonna learn quickly which players to trust and not trust or which are and aren't good enough

I think defensively we should look better with yoro and Martinez in there.
Also if somehow we can get something out of Shaw before we get another left sided one, that would be a bonus

From that game casemiro, eriksen, Bruno, garnacho and rashford looked like they are gonna struggle.

Very tough gig, really only Amad in attack is battling and playing well. The rest of them look stuck and rather limited, even in the best case scenario it seems a bad collection for goals.

I agree, I rate Delap highly very good throughout this early season and Hutchinson was unplayable today, got too close he would drop the shoulder and leave him too much space he scores the goal he did today.

As you stated this is a promoted team, it really puts into perspective the scouting / managers decision to acquire the forward players they have.

A bounce is easier when you change nothing. Amorim is changing a lot and it will take time and pain to put in place.
