Round of 16 | Switzerland vs Italy | Germany vs Denmark

They need to do away with offsides like this. Someone’s toenail being offside is nonsense.

Th problem is where to draw the line then. It either is, even by one millimeter or it isn't.

The offside rule has gone totally nuts. The idea of the rule is to prevent some clogger from just camping upfield for hopeful long balls but never for legitimate plays like we have seen today from both teams. These are pure technicalities that have not impacted play unfairly one bit. They are going to look at this in the near future to tamp down on the offsides ridiculousness that’s currently going on.

Germany probably created more xG in this game than some team in their entire group stage.

Got to draw the line somewhere. Wherever the line is, there are going to be offsides that are 1cm off or 1cm on.

Just make the line bigger and the margin increases to rule out shite like this.

We've got the tech but not the common sense on how it should be implemented yet.

Rüdiger is totally crazy. I'm starting to really like him, despite his miserable life as a player at Real Madrid...

Wouldn’t usually care about a haircut but that the hell was Wirtz thinking? looks dreadful

The offside rule should stay the same, but they should stay with assistant's original call, unless the mistake is at least 50cm

Are you proposing to get rid of offsides? Or only when it is less than 5cm? What about if it is 5.1cm? Offside is binary. You can only get rid of the rule or enforce it like this.

I think Denmark are really unlucky here. I think they were the better team in the first half and so unlucky with the key decisions.

What's the alternative? Give a cushion of 10 cm before it becomes offside? Then you will have the discussion if it's 11 cm.

VAR works for offside. Offside can be determined correctly, even if some decisions, like today, are heartbreaking for one of the teams.

Based on today rules, the handball was clear also.

Denmark were game and did better than expected after the storm break but better team comfortably through in the end.

Think he wants clear daylight, so to be when a player is running through, not stood next to each other and one just has bigger feet than the other.

You'd still have to decide on a line for clear daylight so you'd end up being 1mm either side of the new line.

I would get rid of offsides personally.

I think the game needs some big rule change as it's become really stale and boring.

Michael Oliver decided the outcome of the game with the crazy penalty kick award. After that, the Germans were the best.
