He has a chance to make a vertical move from a perennial top ten side, to the present Premier League winners. Whether or not he's competing against another in his position is beside the point. In-fact, staying at Everton he's already competing for two in his place, Sigurdsson and Klaasen. At least at Chelsea he'll be playing with better players with a chance to play under a manager who could get more out of him.

Barkley has become something of an enigma. When he first burst on the scene, talk of a new Rooney arose, then died away. On the pitch he did some fantastic things, but you always got the impression he was 'playing to the gallery' or more precisely for himself!
At times Barkley has shown all the symptoms of someone being badly advised, or indeed being his own advisor and not allowing voices of reason to penetrate his world. Its very sad really, makes you think what he could be, should have been by now. Most professional footballers have a limited 'time in the sun' anyway, Ross is in danger of not even getting to the seaside!
