In the few mins he was on, he managed to stink out the place and show everyone why Rashford is undeniably number one at the minute. Needs to fix up if he wants to be anything more than a sub for us. Thats being kind on him at the minute.

It's no secret that I've neve rated him but I thought when he was brought on to just be essentially fresh legs that he'd move around and press and chase balls as that was the energy of the entire team, yet he just strolled around looking only half interested.

It's for us who love to watch good players playing football.

I didn't like it when SAF did it with sticking Park on Pirlo.

I'm sure you have a great view up there on that high horse. Do you hate it when teams press as well? Tackling looks ugly so I suppose we should stop doing that too? I'm sure it would be a lot more sporting just to let the other team do what they want I'm sure they'd score some very pretty goals.

On topic, Rom needed to put in more effort tonight, he came on with less than a quarter of the game left so should have been able to put a huge shift in when we needed him.

Pressing and tackling are part of the game. Sticking a player to prevent another player from playing football is something straight out of the Mourinho's Anti-football book.

Lukaku was awful again today and proving that we can't rely on him for this kind of football. It was a perfect platform for him to shine today when he came on but he failed.

Really lazy when he came on today which is so disappointing to see.

I really don't know about this guy. He just seems so sluggish and lethargic. Literally no energy despite being the freshest man on the pitch. If anything he helped to put us further under the cosh.

He was terrible. He just strolled around as if he was Berbatov. Berbatov can pull it off because it is almost impossible to get the ball off him while with Lukaku it is as easy as taking a candy from a child. I was screaming at him as they just played the ball past him and he made no effort to even try to stop them and we were under the cosh and he just stood there in our own half and they nearly scored. He should be got rid off this summer.

Would not be opposed to selling him in the summer. A replacement for him is a tough one though, do we go ahead and trust Rashford to be our 1st team striker and buy a backup? Guess we'll have to see by the end of the season if he's ready or not.

Today was the perfect situation for him to come on but he really is just awful in big games. Disappointing to see. With his physical abilities coming on against a tired defence, he had plenty of opportunities to bully them and impose himself but he just didn't. He'll have his uses but I don't think he'll want to be a squad player, so I can see him leaving. Squad player at best is what he'll be here though. Can see him starting next week to rotate things around a bit plus with us expecting to dominate it's good to have that added threat. But for tougher games, he should always go on the bench.

I wanted to punch the TV watching him walking around in our half and watching Tottenham players walking freely with the ball toward our box. Couldn't believe it.

His lack of talent is so stark. When he was put through by Herrera, he just has nothing ‘extra’ in his locker, and i knew he was going to just shoot and have the shot blocked. There was no way he was going to make a yard for himself to have a clear shot. The only way past the defender would have been for him to legally push him over.

No silk at all to his game, and for a player at the sharp end of the pitch, that’s unacceptable.

That’s even before the separate conversation about his lack of effort today.

I wanted to see him as a super sub but he seems to be a subpar sub. The gap between him and Rashford is crazy, I wanted us to trust Rashford and Martial instead of purchasing Lukaku but I didn't expect Rashford to make him look like a mug that quickly.

Yeah exactly i just threw up at that moment. Such a brainless player.. he beefed up so much and he couldn't do shite at that moment. Just shoot and hope for the best.. Vertonghen outran him in later stages too

I don't disagree with some of the sentiments here but can we also acknowledge we've had a fairly continuous cycle of absolutely amazing strikers leading our front line over the years? I honestly thought big Rom could be a hit here, but watching him all the time now makes me realize he's a very limited player with the odd great moment.

I still don't quite get why Lukaku could do at Everton that he can't do here but looking at his play makes me realize that even when he does score--he adds little else to the team. He s too predictable and too clumsy for the type of fluid footie we should, and recently have been playing and he s too one dimensional to make the difference when we re playing shite. Is our fitness staff managing him incorrectly I wonder?

Lazy fecker, and people were calling him hard worker when I was ripping into him whole of the last season for lack of effort. Only was asked to run for 20min and still couldn’t even accomplish that.

He needs to stop eating or doing weights (whatever has made him look so overweight) and go for an aul jog or two.

He shouldn't be anywhere near the team with the other quality that we have.

I have absolutly no problem with Rashford being the 9 and so on or being selected Iver Lukaku, I was merely pointing out to you and others that Lukaku can do a lot of the things we’ve been seeing Rashford do in this side for Ole with the added benefit of being stronger and faster with better finishing. I honestly don’t really care which one starts and it’s great we have two great options but for me the team will be better all round with Lukaku Martial and Rashford in it rather than Lingard.

No amount of Ole magic is going to turn this guy's touch into something United can work it. He's just not it.
He’ll score again in our upcoming easier fixtures, then we’ll be bombarded with ‘he scored 27 last season etc...’ before the inevitable shite performance.
How can we get our money back

Chelsea seems to need a new striker

I gotta say that it is becoming harder to stay positive about the guy. I admit I was overly optimistic about how much he could bring to the table, oh well. He's had a trying season of the back of the WC (where he was rather good it's fair to say; remember De Bruyne assist Vs Brazil), I still believe in him, he plundered 27 goals last season and wasn't even a world beater doing it, there's something there and hopefully Ole can bring it out.

In all honesty, 27 goals last season (considering all the chances he fecked up) isn't that impressive of a tally. His PL tally wasn't great either. He is a goalscorer for sure but not the one that will work for us. His general footballing ability is worrying in some sequences, like you know what he is going to do and he is so slow to do it too

Going forward, Lukaku is most likely not the type of player we should want in our attavking areas. We've seen the difference a player like Rashford can make.

That said, it's always tough to come on in games such as today and make an impact.

For most of the second half, even when Rashford, Martial and Lingard were still on, Spurs dominated and we struggled to put together the type of counters we saw in the first half.

I did think Ole was going to put Lukaku on the right, though.

One of the better games I've seen him play was for Belgium, when Martinez played a diamond with De Bruyne behind Hazard (left) and Lukaku (right) up top. Like we saw today, they were fantastic on the counter and Lukaku was very good that game.

At the moment, though, he won't be getting in the team with Rashford playing the way he is.

Rashford did little through the middle in the second half as well. Both got overrun.
Their midfield ran past ours and isolated the striker. I can see why Ole brought him on because he's our best chance at holding up the play and allowing the midfield to come forward but that doesn't say much with the players we have.
No he's not

In fact holding up play is probably the worst aspect of his game, worst then his touch. He's the type of striker that's good when put through or simply playing toward the goal not with his back to goal and asked to hold up play. He's simply not that player.

People talk his goals for Everton and Belgium. Fellaini was brilliant for Everton and for Belgium too. I cannot see how he is the top striker at any club trying to win trophies. I guess with Belgium they do not have even someone close that can play as a striker? Benteke was the other option and I do no know where he is now.
He is the first player than needs to be sold. Even before Fellaini.

We aren't having people praising his ability to hold the ball up are we?

He's fecking terrible at that.
Yes, yes he is. By far the most frustrating aspect. Especially given his physicality. At least have a great touch if you re not good at holding the ball, but alas ...then again, I guess it can be argued having a great touch allows you to hold the ball up better.

Still nothing wrong there because it’s still the truth. We dropped back when he came on as Ole wanted to see the game out nothing wrong with that, he still looked to stretch them. Personally would have liked to see more closing down from him but I’m guessing Ole wanted him just to stay up top as an out ball. Still many weeks to go so we’ll see how he goes with more minutes fighting for a place with Rashford.

Weirdly his hold up and link play was pretty good today. Lingard should have slipped him in on that mazy run but he Lingard looked dead on his feet by that time.
There is no issue with that. By the way having two accounts is against CAF rules you know.

It is not because Ole wanted to stay up front that he stank the place. I am sure Ole would not tell him please let the Spurs players take the ball past you and please do not make an attempt or effort to stop them as we are under the cosh and we wanted to let them hammer us.

Expected him to run channels and none of this happened. Young was launching ball from defense and he was in the middle waiting for ball to get to his feet. What the hell was that? Very poor performance from him and rightly benched for Rashford.

Two accounts ?

Yeah, i'm sure Ole wanted him to jog around while Tottenham were piling pressure on us, no need for him to either un the channels or put any defenders under a bit of pressure.

It's obvious to anyone watching us these days that Lukakus current form is absolutely dire, while Rashford is performing better and better, yet you're still of the opinion that Lukaku can do a better job.

Absolute fraud. All mouth. Perhaps the least likeable United player I can remember. Humble, blah blah. Talks the talk. Put some effort in you lazy Cnut

Yeah I knew exactly what would happen too. He is so unrefined and clunky and needs clear space ahead of him to be effective. In that sort of situation he doesn't get his head up and can't get the ball out of his feet or shake off the defender without a bit of bumbling luck and always ends up having the shot blocked easily. Such a weird player, because he scores goals, but is very limited.

Sell him to Milan or Juve quickly, whoever needs a striker in Italy and can give us a large part of our money back.
