It's no secret that I've neve rated him but I thought when he was brought on to just be essentially fresh legs that he'd move around and press and chase balls as that was the energy of the entire team, yet he just strolled around looking only half interested.

This is the thing that pissed me off the most. I don’t care if he is playing bad but he didn’t make it difficult for spurs to come out at all. Terrible.

He looks ducking huge still to me. Needs to sharpen up quick

We should let him go in the summer and buy Timo Werner from Leipzig who is refusing to sign a new contract and has only one year left on his contract.
Think he's Liverpool bound. I'd rather we went for a more experienced rotational option, one who wouldn't mind spending a lot of time on the bench but could still do a solid job for us.

He came on fresh as a daisy but looked like he had played 90 minutes. Utter waste of time. He won a few headers but come on, in that case why not use Fellaini.

He said in an interview that Jose trusted him because he'd "run through walls" for his manager. Fat chance of that. He won't even run channels, let alone through proverbial walls.

That one moment, 5 minutes after coming on where Young plays a direct pass to clear down the right flank and Lukaku is somewhere in the centre of the pitch, static! I was furious. Rashford was chasing those balls down the side for most of the game. Romelu couldn't be bothered to run in ten minutes he's on.

Say what you will about his technical ability, but his attitude off-the-ball is astonishing to say the least.

I usually don't get angry at players easily, even if they are not good enough for us as long as they put effort. Today Lukaku just infuriated me at the lack of effort from him. Your team needs you, put some urgency in your play ffs.

Pressing and tackling are part of the game. Sticking a player to prevent another player from playing football is something straight out of the Mourinho's Anti-football book.

The interesting thing about football is that there are lots of different ways to play which are all equally valid within the rules of the game. Man-marking Pirlo, or Ronaldo or Hazard or Charlton or Beckenbauer out of a game requires an exceptional individual performance and is a perfectly valid way to try to win a football game.

By all means it's natural to have a preference for certain defensive tactics over others, but saying that things you don't like aren't really football is a little arrogant, and suggests to me that maybe you don't really like the sport, just the way it's played by a tiny minority of teams.

Need to sell him in the summer, just not what we need. Does have his uses and has contributed to the Ole reign obviously but he’s just hopeless at doing what we need him to do up front.

Sell him and buy a winger. Let Sanchez and Rashford duke it out. This guys is a fish out of water.

He wouldn't be happy playing second fiddle to Rashford in my opinion. Ole prefers Rashford clearly because of what he offers to our team, Lukaku doesn't have the ability to get in behind or bring others into play as Rashford does.

Hopefully we could recoup the majority of the fee we paid as I don't believe we will get the full amount.

Two accounts ?

Yeah, i'm sure Ole wanted him to jog around while Tottenham were piling pressure on us, no need for him to either un the channels or put any defenders under a bit of pressure.

It's obvious to anyone watching us these days that Lukakus current form is absolutely dire, while Rashford is performing better and better, yet you're still of the opinion that Lukaku can do a better job.
With Rashford as a wide forward with him. Martial, Lukaku, Rashford all 3 at the same time. There is movement pace, power, finishing and link up there. This is what I want to see.

Basic football padiwan, it’s been like that since it’s creation of the off side rule or even before. Having everyone come back is some Jose like tactics. You need an outlet and that was his job at the end. But like I said at times for me he should have been closing them down more in his 25 mins.

It is not because Ole wanted to stay up front that he stank the place. I am sure Ole would not tell him please let the Spurs players take the ball past you and please do not make an attempt or effort to stop them as we are under the cosh and we wanted to let them hammer us.

That what we have been saying for ages as for how this useless lump won't suit any fast free fluid attacking football. He's just too immobile and static for the modern game.

Just another new expensive Chicharito you only put on if you have the opposition cornered in the box, otherwise he has no business in any big club whatever his few remaining defenders try to convince themselves otherwise.

I want Rom to succeed but I thought it was a pathetic cameo. Brought on as fresh legs yet was beaten to almost every ball by their center backs. His goals versus fodder aren't enough for me personally. Would actually consider selling him and getting a replacement if his current performance level is all he shows this season.

Wasn't much movement pace, power, finishing or link up with Lukaku today, hasn't been for a long time. It's pretty clear that what you want to see is Lukaku

Oh and yeah, what's with these two account claims ?

Not sure why you are so desperate for Lukaku to play.

One thing no one can accuse Chicharito is of not trying. He will run non stop all the time. I know Lukaku is not so talented as Rashford or Martial but ffs even Fellaini would have been better today because at least he always gives it all. We had Herrera out on his feet with cramps. Rashford on empty tanks yet still running up and down. Matic half dead. Pogba did not have it any left and got subbed. Yet Lukaku just comes around and strolls around. There was an instant where one step forward from his could have stopped a Spurs attack in our half yet he just stood there in our half. He is not a team player. I wish he never plays for United again. It is not his lack of football but he is insulting his team mates and the club by not even attempting to try to stop Spurs today.

How are you supposed to press when you're that heavy? Seriously.
He's too slow and his control continues to let him down. It's very easy for defenders to deal with him compared to other players.

Yeah. He's just all talk in the media with nothing to show off. People talk about his great and leading character in his quotes then we see this. Ridiculous.

If he was a horse at royal ascot he'd be taken round back and put down.

He was always useless in big games, City last year a real low, but this year he's a championship level striker at best, Kevin Davies reincarnate.

I think it was the 85th minute and we were pressing high, Lukaku was jogging back and Rashford who had played the whole game was sprinting back to win the ball.

He's not United quality in a million years.

Lukuku came across really well at Everton and when he moved to Utd. He was ambitious and hungry. Since he’s got to Utd, he seems to have lacked that fight and determination he needed to get here - it appears he’s taking it for granted, and no longer has the desire to be better. He thinks he’s made it, and it doesn’t look like he’s got the mentality to be a success at Utd.

Good to see Lukaku's taken over from MAtic as the United player the caf loves dumping on.

He's been dreadful for 12 months and lazy the vast majority of his career so it isn't a huge surprise.

The great thing is that Solskjaer has come in and immediately given the dynamic players that work hard... The likes of Lingard, Herrera, Rashford etc the platform to perform; whilst binning a huge reason as to why we weren't able to press from the front in Lukaku (as well as Fellaini).

It sounds harsh to pin so much on one or two players but it's the same reason Klopp binned Benteke so quicky. The whole point of a dynamic press is that you do it as a team. If a third of the attack is doing their best impression of a potato it all breaks down.

Even under Mourinho's tumescent tactics we saw glimpses of a positive pressing game when Lukaku was injured against Everton, Bournemouth & Juventus. Far too little and far too infrequent but it certainly was enough that Mourinho should've given the system more time.

Really impressed with the bravery shown by Solskjaer as it would have been easy for him to play him due to his wages/fee.

Kevin Davies is a handful and he bullies and kicks the hell out of defenders and is a much better at heading the ball too. Lukaku is a pussy cat compared to him.

We've seen from his Chelsea days that the guy wants to play and if he's not playing he'll want to move on.

I'm not totally down on the guy, there is a good player in there capable of contributing but at this point in time rashford has took his place and its now down to him to show a response.

Ole has shown that'll everyone will get a chance but what he produced today and against reading won't be enough to get him back in the side

Need to step it up Rom or you'll be left behind

Sky did an interview with him & Rashford just after he signed and the interviewee teased the two as to who was the best striker. Rom gave the interviewer a look as if to say how dare you question who is the best....hopefully it's dawning on the useless so & so who is the best at the club. Given his own ego i'm pretty sure he wont accept a long stretch on the bench so hopefully his agent will soon be mouthing off in the press that's it's time to do one

To be fair it is his lack of football ability as well as every other limitation

It was actually a ball played to Lukaku who was up front on his own. It was a good ball and he took to sort of the left wing position and Rashford who was defending on our left side in our own half had put a sprint to get into the Spurs box. Lukaku lost it and Rashford sprinted back to his position on our left while Lukaku only walked. These are the kind of things I am also talking about. He is taking the piss. He should have never been a Manchester United player.

He was having a fecking laugh today, mind. I’m not one for a witch hunt against our players (it’s the worst thing about this forum, at times) but he was just walking about while Rashford and Lingard were running themselves into the ground.

If he wants to get back in the side then he needs a giant kick up the arse.

He was good when he got hold of the ball today. Held it up and laid it off to teammates or held on to it long enough to give the team some rest. I like him but he didn't press enough today in the moments when he should have. He started pressing when everyone else was totally done which wasn't helpful.

He needs to either use his strength more or lose some weight. Needs to find back the groove he had last season where even if he wasn't scoring he was constantly making positive contributions to the game. He wasn't awful today and like I said when he got onto the ball he made positive contributions but he didn't work hard enough off the ball.

Are you sure we all watched the same game? He was awful today. He did not hold the ball up and he did not even try hard enough to stop them just going past him and he put United under a lot of pressure while everyone else was out on their feet and he was fresh and he should have been sprinting non stop till the final whistle.

Abysmal cameo. All he had to do for 20 minutes was a fraction of the running and effort Rashford and even Martial were putting in for the previous 70. Come the 80 minute mark and Rashford and Lingard were still running around like madmen while Lukaku just plodded about trying his best to hide from the ball.

Despite having the freshest of fresh legs he didn't sprint. Didn't control the ball successfully even once (i think?). Didn't make any sort of movement in the box when we had the ball in decent positions. Didn't close anyone down. All he did was ball-watch and he looked like he was - as usual - trying to hide from the ball when the likes of Pogba and Lingard were in possession and under pressure.

Honestly if people still can't see why he has no place starting for a top club after that then there's no hope for them. That cameo summed up everything that's been wrong with his performances and attitude and how bad a fit he is in a side that wants to play fast, fluid counter attacks in tough away games like today. Not fit to lace Lingard's boots, let alone compete with Rashford for the no.9 role.

It's one of the most important fixture of the season, and we were pressured so much by Tottenham, Lukaku came in with 20 minutes remaining and did nothing of note!
He just didn't press and make enough runs.

I guess he lost motivation after losing his place to Rashford?

According to whoscored he wasn't dispossessed and had 1 out of 11 bad touches with regards to those saying he didn't hold the ball up well or was losing it.

Well technically he's not being dispossessed when it's his own rubbish touch or pass to nobody that does it.
