Robin Van Persie - Were you happy we sold Jaap Stam?

Statistically they look good. Nani has 3 goals and 2 assists in 5 games, and RvP has 2 goals and an assist in 3 starts with 2 subs.

Yet RvP just got dropped and someone said the Turkish fans weren't too pleased with Nani either. This league should be a cakewalk for them tbf, there's no depth at all. Early days to decide they should be playing for bigger/better teams.

Opposition fans presumably. Everything I've looked at indicates him ripping it up at the moment. Being a big fish in a smaller pond is probably a good fit for him to be honest.

Apologies everyone but..

 how am I only just seeing this?

Nope. Fener fans I know and a few members of my family who are Fener fans slated his start. Said he has been excellent the past 3 weeks though.

The season isn't really much older than that though to be fair! He may well have had a stinker in the first game or two I suppose.

It has been reported here in Portugal that he is having problems with portuguese manager Vítor Pereira. He's not an easy person, got some temper problems

I saw highlights, Nani seems to be involved in all their attacking play, many of their goals are either scored or assisted by him-- and his numbers back that up. RvP just started playing, and he's scored twice in 3 starts, including a nice late winner.

Looks like he's not starting, I guess that's why he is not happy. Today he played the last 30 min, had 2 shots: 1 goal and one hit the post.

Fwiw, on whoscored Nani has a season rating of 7.71, the highest by far for Fenerbahce (next is 7.32). RvP is 6.94.

For comparison, for us Martial has 8.07 with Mata on 7.42.

I don't understand the posts on here. He's scoring goals and assists but not getting playing time?

To be honest I'd be sulking if I was him and couldn't get a starting role at Fenerbahce.

From a quick look at Transfermarkt his only real competition for CF is Fernandao who has 3 goals and 0 assists in 10 starts 1 sub (800 total minutes) vs. van Persie who has 4 goals 1 assist in 5 starts 5 subs (451 total minutes). Not really sure why he isn't starting on that basis.

Why did he have to be so shite last season? I sort of feel sorry for him.

Really sad for him to have gone from a place where he enjoyed every minute of his time training etc, to... Turkey, where he's being treated like the ostracised kid in primary school.

Wonder if he'll try and get out of there in January.

Why is everyone feeling so sorry for him? Maybe he's just been a bit shit and deserves to be on the bench? He seems to have reacted terribly to being dropped.

In hindsight it probably was a bad decision on balance for him to leave Arsenal. Sure, he won the league once, but he's looking at the third shit season in a row whereas he could still have been Arsenal's number one striker.

I'm sure if he was offered a premier league title and then a few mediocre years, or no titles but staying at Arsenal for his career(where he would probably only be as useful as he is now anyway)' he would have taken the way it turned out.

He's deteriorated badly physically. Can't even get into Fenerbache's first team so I doubt he'd have been first choice at Arsenal for too long had he stayed. I'm sure he's pretty glad he managed to win the league title in his last season at the top of his game.

@devil in me @kps88

I'm delighted that Fergie went out and bought him, guaranteeing the 20th title. And yes, he may have traded in those 2 shite seasons with us and the Fenerbache nightmare he now endures for that one title. But there is something to be said for playing your whole career (or most of it) at one top club, possibly becoming part of the coaching staff. His career seems to have gone to shit.

I'm not sure he's deteriorated as badly as some think - unlike Wayne he's got an excellent first touch, great technique and he's a top finisher. His pace is gone, but he could still do a job for us up front (not that he's needed) or Arsenal who have willing runners around their striker.

Just a thought.

Well, if he doesn't want to be here he should be looking for a move in January. Not sure what he wants, but I'm sure there would be a lot of interest from english teams, and they could also pay his wages. If he wants to move back home or something like that he'll have to take a huge pay cut.

Turkish football is just so unappealing, MLS is the proper retirement home.

.

He pretty much proved last season that he can't. And now he can't even get into the Fener team. He's done.

MLS sign free players, they dont buy them. So from that point view, he didnt have the choice.
They bought Giovani dos Santos for like 9 million euro, but he's probably going to bring so much more due to all the mexican-american fans in Los Angeles.

We would of let him go on a free if he had wanted to go to the MLS and that was the only stumbling block.

No it wasn't.

What makes you think he'd be good at Arsenal now? How many managers has he been shit for now including the national team? The pace he had in him to create that extra yard of pace is gone. Similar to Kaka.

Staying at Arsenal would have changed nothing. This tends to happen to most players.
