RVP became quickly my favorite player in the entire team. That wasn't an excuse for selling Stam though.

Jaap Stams relevance is an unknown to anyone but Baby Groot, but he never came back to explain what he was getting at. He's banned now as well, so it's unlikely we'll ever know what point he was trying to make.
I think he was trying to draw a comparison between the sale of Stam, regarded by many as one of Fergie's greatest blunders, and the sale of van Persie.
weirdly remember him so often being injured for Arsenal but just googled it and in his 8 years there he played more than 30x 6 years out of the 8. Only managed it once in his first season with us and the last 2 less than 30. But that's my first memory of him. Great hope but should have done better overall in his career.
But loved him in his first season with us and one of my "one off" favourite players. Will never be a legend just because of the lack of time with us though IMO, loved but not a legend.
