Riyad Mahrez | Staying at Leicester

If he's an Algerian Journo, then there's a fair chance there's some truth to his tweet.
How do we know he's not trying to gain views for his papers. The rumours about him are active and maybe he wants to get his paper some views?

I think that we need right winger and mahrez fits perfectly.
Now here goes but:
1)mourinho said that he wants a player who is more wing back. And on the left. Mahrez is not that.
2) mahrez does not strikes me as mourinho player
3) what then with mata, mikhi, lingard....

He missed a trick if he is trying to get views for his paper. Should've mentioned United if he wanted views.

Mickhi plays centrally how he should. Mata can play centrally, be his backup or backup for the right. Lingard. I dont know :D

He was never my first choice but he'd be an immediate and long term upgrade on Mata and Lingard at right wing. Mahrez and Valencia on the right could be extremely good. Plus it'd give us much needed quality depth in all positions in the front four.

Lukaku/Ibra
Rashford/Martial - Mykhi/Mata - Mahrez/Lingard

I really hope there's some truth to this.

Foolish from the club and Mourinho. We need more.

So considerate on United's end to have the #26 kit vacant for the inevitable arrival of Mahrez.

Just as for Griezmann's #7 :drool::rolleyes:

Personally hoping we don't sign him, I think we can cope with what we have and I don't think he's good enough to step us up a level. Certain players such as Sanchez and Griezmann are of the above level, and it looks like Griezmann at least is a realistic target. Although they don't play the same position I'd still rather hold out for somebody like that, rather than sign a player such a Mahrez, who I don't rate particularly highly.

Has to be said though, his 15/16 season was spectacular.

Now I like Duncan. But I also like Chebli. But which one is better? There's only one way to find out ...

Doesn't seem like a lot when you talk about it in strict years but a big difference when talking prime years a player has to offer. At 28 Perisic has 2 - maybe 3 - years of prime production to offer the way he rigorously plays the game (similar to Valencia) before he begins showing signs of decline + he's not an elite level player. At 26 Mahrez has at least 5 years of prime production to offer before he begins to regress and the way he plays doesn't take as much of a toll physically on himself being the smooth and slick operator he is on the pitch + he's an elite level player.

Quite the difference when you look at it from that angle / Mahrez would offer a long term fix and stability at his position, something which you can't say for Perisic and the fact one has game breaking ability.

2 years is a lot but from what I heard Perisic has a good work rate & good passing ability as well. So if it's true, even when he past his prime age, he might be able to develop a new position or role like full back, wing back or midfielder.

Wouldn't want the Mahrez who played against Arsenal on the opening day, or turned up at Old Trafford at the weekend, in a United shirt he bought at the megastore. The guy from a couple of seasons ago is another matter.

Same was said about matic.

If there were any chance of him moving to big English club this window, then surely it could only be Arsenal? They've been linked for ages, and seem to be about to come into some money soon...

Really hope not. For where we are now we need top level / world class potential to take us to the next level and he ain't that.

how does he play when teams are sitting back and not giving him a ton of open space to play. Big question I have with so much of Leicester's emphasis on the counter.

Baldy said we were interested in Lemar but nothing happened, so goes to say he know nothing now really

If we don't sign Mahrez and he goes to another club, i quite fear we will regret not doing this move like the Mane situation now

As there have been bids in excess of £60 million for Lemar, we possibly were interested, but the prices quoted ended that. United are on a budget and probably have 40 million left to spend, so why would we chase players who are way way beyond our budget.

Really hope we get mahrez. He's got obvious flaws in terms of defensive contribution and physical strength but the way he ghosts past players is special. We don't currently have a hazard, robben type player. Mahrez could be that for us.

Mahrez on the right, Martial on the left, Lukaku up top. Mahrez's delivery is miles better than what we have in our team.

His deliveries in the box are good.
