Mata's contract runs thru the end of June 2018. Signing Mahrez as his long term replacement on the right and then potentially resigning Mata as second-choice/squad player would be really good business.

I don't care if we sign him or not, just nice to have some form of a target going into deadline day.

hes exaclty 2 years younger. Not exactly a lot is it?

Doesn't seem like a lot when you talk about it in strict years but a big difference when talking prime years a player has to offer. At 28 Perisic has 2 - maybe 3 - years of prime production to offer the way he rigorously plays the game (similar to Valencia) before he begins showing signs of decline + he's not an elite level player. At 26 Mahrez has at least 5 years of prime production to offer before he begins to regress and the way he plays doesn't take as much of a toll physically on himself being the smooth and slick operator he is on the pitch + he's an elite level player.

Quite the difference when you look at it from that angle / Mahrez would offer a long term fix and stability at his position, something which you can't say for Perisic and the fact one has game breaking ability.

I was impressed how he could take on a man when we played them. This is really required as we have zero pure wingers and its required when teams are staked up as banks of four in the opposition box.

why is it at 28 Perisic has 2 "maybe 3" years left but at 26 mahrez who has been playing in the epl week in week out has "at least" 5 years. I like Perisic but would much prefer mahrez because i think he's has more to his game and is already accustomed to the league, but the whole age thing like perisic is 5 years his elder is kinda OTT. Saying perisic is lucky to be good at 30 but mahrez will be class to 31 the very least is kind of silly in my humble opinion

This rumor that's popped out of no where has only come up because of pogba talking to him after the game. Even in the rumor, you had the but our or some reps are against it so I'm doubtful it will happen. I think it's bs but i'd settle for being wrong. I'd have liked Mane and Mahrez last summer so if we got him then we wouldn't be so heavily reliant on Martial and Valencia would cross less. woooo

SFR Sport is the outlet running with the Mahrez news. And if I'm not mistaken, Bouhafsi who many consider very reliable on here, is a presenter for the outlet.

It's pretty simple actually. Valencia is 32 and still good but it's clear he's regressing as his body continues to take its toll from the style he plays with. Perisic is similar in that sense, very physical and wreckless and I see a similar trend for him. Not saying he'll be useless but his best days will already be behind him that soon in a couple years time, and doesn't help he doesn't have top end talent like Mahrez does to begin with. The way Mahrez plays the game it's not a stretch to say he'd last longer before he begins to regress more naturally. He's a pretty nimble guy out there in comparison hahah

So is a gnome

This kind of statement takes an opinion that you'd prefer Mahrez to Mata from reasonable to sounding like a clown. Juan has been one of our best players in the last several years. For Juanfield alone I'd expect a little more decency and respect for the guy.

Let's be honest he's a top four player not a league title winning player. Not comparing him Mahrez that is.

Sounds like a nice idea, but Im not sure he's an upgrade on Mhki or Mata on IRF position. Sanchez on the other hand ...

This feels like the rumor that the papers manufacture to ensure they don't lose clicks and views from United supporters during the closing leg of this window

#Mahrez should commit tomorrow with his new club... Surprise #mercatodz

Who the bugger's fc mercatodz??

Muppets assemble? Who the feck is this guy? His twitter says he's a journalist but how well know is he in Algeria?

Can we please not mention the idea of Juan Mata ever leaving this club please?

Roma was bidding for him last week. Maybe they finally met Leicester's demands?

For what it's worth he hints in the replies that it's a top English club, if you follow the chain of tweets he says it

If this true, it's us or Liverpool, surely? Mahrez has been linked with Arsenal and Chelsea, so it wouldn't come as a surprise.
