Fabinho
Sanches Pogba
Mkh Morata Martial
Looks like a solid midfield which will bring out the best out of Pogba too
Herrera and Pereira over him any day, any week. Heck, it pains me but Fellaini over him. We should even consider Blind too!

Pretty sure i read before the season, that Pereira would be great as a deep playmaker, or something like that.
Personally i thought he was more rw/lw or 8/10.
Think he can cover several positions.

You think he's better than Herrera? i swear some people have never seen him play before. Always after the shinny new toy.

I wouldn't write him off just yet. Think he could still come good if given the right support and environment. Whether that would be at United is another matter. But fortunately for him, he has plenty of time on his side.

Deary me, one thing saying he is over rated but this is viewing through red tinted spectacles. I like Herrera too but its only the last few months he has come to the fore consistantly, Pereira I also think has a lot of talent but he hasnt done anything and Fellaini..... Blind I think was when he first came and is a decent holding midfielder, an average left back and not a centre back with good strengths and awful weaknesses too.

Would you really place him as our 6th choice central midfielder....when as of yet as a unit our midfield hasnt really gelled or performed consistently for years.......and still manage to pick all these players and not even mention Michael Carrick?

One season where the guy only starts six games, has barely had a sniff due to the quality of players ahead of him and he goes from golden boy to an utter dud, he is neither but he is definately talented enough to get in our side as things stand and most importanly, for me, would improve us as well.

He is 18, I dont know why people are writing him off in that fashion, look at the 18 year olds at our clubs and other major clubs and the stage they are at. How much he can improve is up for debate, where he is im comparison within his age group is another thing altogether. Where were all the players you mention in our side ahead of him at 18? He is a kid ffs, a talented kid. People go on about the likes of Linards progression, he is six years older than him!

Decent post.

Think this Bayern kick in the teeth was probably what he needed.

I bet he would properly knuckle down now and improve big time at another club.

I genuinely believe it's one of those where the kid just couldn't adapt to a new environment and an alien language.

We forget sometimes, but this is a child.

Have you ever tried fishing? You should cause football it's not for you, really.

The only problem with Renato is that he picked the wrong club in wrong league, just that.

I am not writing him off, I just don't rate him at all. Sadly, I invested 6 months watching him since the time we were first linked and was talked about and I was severely disappointed. Ability and hype were miles apart. He is not the first overhyped Benfica kid I've watched but he is imo, the least impressive. Benfica have the tendency to overhyped their kids to get money, and this was the case with Sanches. Within his first 4 months of first team football, Benfica were quoting something like €60m. At the end of the day, Benfica were not that reluctant to let him go, and the player himself split fans down the middle. Bayern fans aren't exactly impressed by him either.

I will not deny that he is a physical specimen at his age but that were it ends for me. He should have stayed at Benfica but Bayern would have been the perfect place for him to develop, surrounded with world class talent in Vidal, Thiago, Alonso, Lahm and Martinez. There would be no pressure on him to make an immediate impact. This is a league where Bayern can walk the league easily. The very fact that Bayern want to offload him so quick tells the story.

I hope he has a decent career and even proves me wrong but my opinion of him is nothing to do with age but that even at his age, there is more talent out there. It's easy to push through if your physicality stands out but when it matters the other aspects expected of a young CM is severely lacking. What he needs is to go to on loan to a lower ranked club and get a year or two under his belt. We don't need this now.

I never said he's better than Herrera. He's a good option to have when we need to rest Herrera or if he's injured. People seem to be oblivious to the fact that we're back in CL and need options on the bench

There's no way Herrera should not be starting. He's the first name in the team sheet every game

Herrera needs cover, so does Pogba (I think pereira will do that nicely) whilst I'd prefer the naingollen (sp) I'd certainly rather see Sanches on over Fellaini.

Look at the strength in depth real have - Isco, James, kovacic etc.

Under 30m as a rotation option with Jose being a fan why not?

He runs around a lot and has a lot of pace. Pretty good at nicking the ball and starting counter attacks. His passing looked crap whenever I saw him.

He looks suited to a team that presses high up, something we don't do.

He's a talented youngster, but one who's lacking in confidence and fine-tuning and is nowhere near good enough right now to displace Herrera.

We need a CARRICK REPLACEMENT - we have done for a few years. Someone to clean up house in front of the back four allowing Herrera and Pogba to wreak havoc and do their thing.

Yep Fabinho would be perfect for prem and champions league while using Fosu Mensah for cup games.

I haven't seen much of either, but isn't his style (not comparing quality here) quite similar to Nainggolan?
Powerful midfielder who likes to bring the ball forward, decent passer and have a decent shot?

I have probably watched roughly one full match of both players, and it's a while back.

Still very young, and the potential is there, maybe Mourinho is the right man to get his development back on track.

If it's going to be a back up formation, say so. It's very simple.

Dont just assume everyone knows you're replacing one select player due to a random injury or to rest.

Just seen Bayern have bought Tolisso. Will this impact Sanches's place in their squad?

I don't think most people who haven't decided that he's a terrible over-hyped player would want him at the cost of Herrera.

If we end up playing a 3 man midfield with a new DM behind Herrara and Pogba, we can still fit Sanches into that quite comfortably. He'd get games in the further forward midfield 2 and Herrera might also work as a makeshift dm behind him and Pogba.

I hope the people who are writing him off aren't the same people who took ages to realise Wayne is finished.

We are talking young kid, one season and all of a sudden he's not good enough for us. Laughable.

And the added bonus of having him coached by the best Portuguese manager...

Given they have Rudy and Kimmich, I don't think he is a replacement for Alonso.

This does make Sanches attainable for any club
Kimmich seems to be headed to RB although only Löw plays him there and neither Pep nor Ancelotti.
Since there are no Bayern rumors regarding RBs, but some in regards to midfielders I tend to believe it. Rudy is a squad player, so I expect a Thiago, Vidal, Tolisso midfield for Bayern.

Alexis* Lewandowski Robben
Tolisso Thiago Vidal
Alaba Hummels Boateng Kimmich
Neuer

Personally I'm against signing him.
He has plenty of raw potential but Utd need a couple of players in their prime.
Currently he isn't really an upgrade on Herrara & right now Utd aren't in a position where you could say 'We're in a good position for next season, confident of a title challenge'
Still need a DM, Striker & a winger of sorts minimum.
That should be Utds priority, get the important positions sorted / upgraded then think about taking punts on potential wonder kids.

I think there are Jose comments about his regret at our not signing this player last year so he should at least be somewhat interested in him again this year. For what's it's worth he always leaves Bayern in my fm and goes on to become a beast box to box in the PL.

No, they are the same people who thought he was overrated before he moved to Bayern. The thread is still there if you search for it, there's plenty of us expressing the same opinion on it, opposing those shitting with despair over 'another one we let slip away'.

The 'one season' line doesn't float, it's the same length of time it took for the rest of you to decide he was worth spending over 30mil on despite his very obvious deficiencies.
