Kroos dint suit pep philosophy. He aint a midfeilder who isused to pass sideways and backwards.
Wrong. Pep rated Kroos and wanted to keep him but Bayern kept lowballing Kroos in the contract negotiations ( he wanted something closer to Goetze who was earning 11-12m€/year but Bayern offered him no more than 7-8m€) so he decided to leave.
There is no point arguing around, Kroos really is Bayern's biggest transfer mistake in recent times given his abilities, age and Bayern's now gaping hole in midfield and every Bayern fan I know regrets selling him.

However most people on here are right, Bayern barely make mistakes in selling players, Kroos was the exception that proves the rule.

Still think he can develop into a top player.
Dont know if a midfield with Herrera-Renato-Pogba is the best scenario.
More i watch the team, more i get the impression that what United need is a DM/destroyer to free the midfield and the full backs, and a top top LB.

At 30m he's hardly a risk in today's market. If our scouts think he's worth it then I'll take their word for it given I've barely seen him play outside of the euros (where he looked pretty good from memory).

No it's stupid because Ajax was basically the biggest giant of them all, winning the CL with them and multiple titles. ....
Talk of re writing history:lol: Ajax winning the champions league when they did was a HUGE surprise. Its Serie A sides like Milan that were "the biggest giant of them all'. Quit lying...

Renato has ahd a decent first season and just cant be compared to Davids.
Not in talent, ability, potential and what they achieved prior to moving to their next respective clubs.
Which is EXACTLY why no one has made such an argument. Do keep up....

I wont write off an 19 year old, as I think our Willocks, McTominays can be as good as Viera and Pogba. They happen to be 19 you know.
Sure Einstein. They are 18 year olds who helped to win their domestic league in their debut season aged 18, helped win a Euro for there Nation and resultantly got purchased for a large fee by a European giant. So comparable they are. Clap for yourself...

Definitely agree!!

Its not even a matter of "still". The kid is only Rashford's age and will continue to improve in time, especially if its under Mourinho and staff.

Think I saw that we were linked with him on loan? I wouldn't see the point in that. I can see him ultimately becoming a great player but would he be that much of an asset next season alone?

Glad we got Pogba and not him. At the same time he's so young and could do well in the epl. Would take him for a cut price.

Never understood what was so special about Renato.
He is decent, but nothing special for our fans to cry about missing out on him.
Probably the only wise transfer (deciding not to sign) of LVG.

It really makes no sense for bayern to sell Renato, surely they knew he was going to be a long term investment so I don't see him moving. However I'd take the £30.5m quoted any day of the week, he has incredible talent for a 19 year old and he's only going to get better with consistent playing time.

Really not sure why we should make an expensive gamble with other players probably available that could offer us more and our own talented players like Pereira, Fosu-Mensah and Tuanzebe who could use the minutes. On top of that I really don't want us to do Bayern a favour yet again.

Id loan him for a season see how he behaves.

Indeed, loan him with the possibility to buy at the end, like what they did with Coman.

I think the only thing exceptional about Renato is that he was able to slot into Portugal's midfield so well at 18 years old. I don't think he's worth bending over backwards for him. He doesn't stand out in any particular area of the midfield, his touch is pretty poor, and he makes bad decisions in a box-to-box role. I think he's still very young and has time to get better. I don't know if him coming here would necessarily benefit his development and he may prove to be a frustrating figure for some of the people on here.

Agreed, we should focus on the young players we have instead of gambling on another shiny talent. We need more mature players at this point, not more youth.

The only way stockpiling massive numbers of talented kids would work out positively is if the Glazers went out and bought up a Spanish team solely for development similar to what the Pozzo family did with Granada.

20m max. Bayern need to make a loss on this deal

So he'd be leaving Bayern's bench to come and sit on our bench?

I haven't watched him since the Euro's, where, to be fair to him, he was excellent.

His ability to drive with the ball through midfield is what impresses me the most.

Definitely would need to be in a 3 man midfield, as the most attacking midfielder. Very much like Pogba, in the way he gets forward well, but needs to work on his discipline.

I personally wouldn't sign him, though. He had his chance.

I'd like to try Periera in centre midfield next year. Mourinho tried him as a 6 in pre season, which I found interesting. Would love to see him given a chance, instead of paying for a player who initially didn't want to be here.

At the price banded around for certain players surely he's worth a gamble. As people have said if Mournho can mound him he can become great and, at 18/19yrs old can be a back-up at times for Pogba and Herrera.

Add Fabinho to the mix and you can have pogba/Fabinho/Herrera...Sanchez/Fabinho/Herrera/...Pogba/Fabinho/Sanchez

Surely some more dynamism and energy is what we need in central midfield.

Having watched the @ivaldo ljust posted, my original assessment of this remains.

2 year loan and an option to buy at a fair rate. Interested.

Play it the way they did with Coman at Juve. Similar situations (albeit higher prices).

No point doing ourselves out of a deal here. Jose likes him, we know. He's an incredibly talented player that has played at a higher level than Tielemans and could work well switching into key positions for us.

His youthful exuberance would work well to break the lines late in games and support our flagging forwards on the 60 minute mark from a deeper position. There are some heavy first touches at times and a handful of circumstances where he hangs onto the ball too long in that compilation but both of these can be improved upon in similar fashion to how Pogba did this year. The player can certainly bring value to the squad as a substitute in big games and a better stand in than our current level when Herrera or Pogba need resting. He could be deployed further up the pitch earlier in his career with us if we were to get him.

I think there is definitely value here. 30m pounds isnt much for a young and talented box to box midfielder. He won the golden boy award, he cant be so bad. I would rather a loan with a buy option of lets say 40m pounds, just in case he turns out to be totally useless or homesick or whatever. You would think Bayern willing to possibly sell him after one season, there is something fishy.

Can't believe there are people negative over a lad so young, he honestly looked fantastic during the Euro's.

If Bayern don't want him, we should welcome him with open arms.

Didnt Jose make a comment on him last season that he would have liked him ?
I Wouldn't mind him actually but not sure how he would fit into the team, any time I have seen him play I have liked him. If we did get him I reckon we would need someone like Fabinho too.

He was decent in the three games he played but fantastic is overstating it a bit. I wouldn't be against signing him but not sure where he would fit.

Fabinho
Sanches Pogba
Mkh Morata Martial
Looks like a solid midfield which will bring out the best out of Pogba too

There's no way Herrera should not be starting. He's the first name in the team sheet every game

starting sanches after the year he's had is bonkers. literally only in your line up based on name not performances.

Looked great the few times i saw him in the Euros, but not sure where he'll fit into the team.
Not sure if he's better than Herrera, or even Pereira.
He's cm/b2b, isn't he? Or is he more dm?

He's a talented youngster, but one who's lacking in confidence and fine-tuning and is nowhere near good enough right now to displace Herrera.

We need a CARRICK REPLACEMENT - we have done for a few years. Someone to clean up house in front of the back four allowing Herrera and Pogba to wreak havoc and do their thing.

If true, then you have to wonder why Bayern would be willing to let go already. Only a kid so plenty of time but it would suggest that after watching him daily in training they think he lacks ability or a good attitude...given bad behaviour hasn't been revealed and can be overcome, I'd think it was the former.

He can't start every every game with us being in the CL and probably mounting a title challenge too. We need someone who isnt a tree in our squad. Plus a little competition never hurt anyone

Sanches will be decent cover for our midfield; switch him in with either Pogba/Herrera when either of them need a break. Fellaini will have a specialist role when we need an aerial target with Fabinho/Carrick to cover them all from behind.

I think fit is easy enough. Herrera has been very good as a 6 and it would be a nice advantage to have his mobility and skill at that position while he's kicking people and covering space, like Gabi has done in going from an 8 to a 6 and having his best years at Madrid.

I think the advantage of a manager like Mourinho is that the team will defend well without defensively brilliant players. We saw that this year already.

So, a classic inverted triangle midfield with Pogba left, Sanches right and Herrera a bit deeper in the middle looks well-equipped to create turnovers, move the ball quickly and carry it when the counter is on.

Except we have Pereira

I'm not saying he should start every game. He would be a great asset coming off the bench when we need to park the bus or in CL/cup games.
