It actually goes Godfather 2 > The Room > Apocalypse Now > Birdemic > Godfather. IMO of course.
You're the biggest hipster on here. It's the hipster's choice to prefer the second one, just screams bad taste, it's the same people who think Scarface and Pacino's performance in it is great, most likely.
Yeah, his films aren't the ones you approach head-on unprepared, I did the same but with Solyaris instead of Stalker.Zerkalo is a fantastic film, Nilsson. Solyaris is Tarkovsky's most accessible but The Mirror the most rewarding. I recall watching Stalker years ago before I really got into films...suffice to say it wasn't the sci fi movie that I was expecting...
Officials at Goskino were critical of the film. On being told that it should be faster and more dynamic, Tarkovsky replied: 'The film needs to be slower and duller at the start so that the viewers who walked into the wrong theatre have time to leave before the main action starts'.

Well inSplendid, Nobby!
It stands out in a decade that lacks great thrillers and was refreshing at the time, not because it's really great, but because it was significantly better than all the shit we had to endure in that genre for more than 10 years. Of course it's not a top20 film of all time, it's not even a top 5 Scorsese film.I never got the hype over Shutter Island. Found ti boring and predictable. Not to mention the same repetitive performance by Di Caprio.
Yep I'm gonna try to post mine by the end of the day Damien Duff!Well in
Any more for any more people? On an off note, as always I will have the usual vote for what we want to do next during the countdown but do we think we could get some football related ones (maybe specifically the world cup - greatest goals, teams, games) going across in the footy forum - could run along side the entertainment one.

I disagree, I think it's one of his best pictures. I thought it was a great exploration of madness with a fantastic performance by DiCaprio (one of his best). I also loved the way it was shot, which some didn't enjoy though if I recall correctly. It stands out in a decade that lacks great thrillers and was refreshing at the time, not because it's really great, but because it was significantly better than all the shit we had to endure in that genre for more than 10 years. I need to edit mine. Its just Pacific Rim atm.Well in

would be a bigger job. Aldo, up to you pal, if you want to take control of the footy ones be my guest!Duffy I'm not sure you're ready for the deluge of submissions you'd get with a football poll.
Cheers. Though I don't think now is a great time to do it with the WC fever hitting the caf. I would prefer to do it after the WC.would be a bigger job. Aldo, up to you pal, if you want to take control of the footy ones be my guest!
I get 21 results when I search for 'City of God' in this thread, so it should be in enough lists to make it easily into the top 50. It's not the greatest foreign film of all time though .12 Pages of Movie lists... and not one single person has mentioned the greatest foreign movie of all time??????????
Bloody hell people....
City of god!!!
edit: I found one!
