Rafa invented a cauldron that produce endless food that can eradicate famine everywhere in the world, but Hicks and Gillete vetoed the patent.

He used it at home to feed himself instead.

I miss him.

in 2008/08 we were ranked by UEFA as the Number 1 team in Europe. Today we are no better than Stoke and Fulham.

Ok Pop quiz.

Who for Liverpool will score more than 10 goals for LFC this season in the league ?

My answer = No one

FSG used our transfer budget to pay off Kenny and his staff and Swansea for Rodgers and his staff.

and the classic "player for player, we're great..."

I don't want to sound like Mr half glass full Tomkins Times here... but ffs.
We've retained Suarez, Agger, Skrtel, Reina [compare that to Arsenal retaining their stars].. count Gerrard in there too if you like.
We've got rid of every player, bar Cole, who wasn't going to have a future.
We've acquired what already looks like the best midfielder since Alonso in Allen,
and another one on loan in Sahin. We've got two very young but very mobile and dangerous strikers in Borini and Yesil, to complement Suarez.
We have the next John Barnes in Raheem Sterling.
Johnson and Enrique, show me two better attacking full backs.

Most importantly, we have a single minded, progressive manager who believes in what we all believe in when it comes to what to do with that round thing.

We've got a great side. Get a grip.

The thing about Dempsey is that whilst he's no world-beater, he comes with 10-15 league goals a season and Liverpool desperately need those goals. That's why fans will be so disappointed in getting outbid.

Pretty much - Liverpool simply needed someone to bang in the goals. They were ridiculously wasteful last season which is why Dempsey would have been a good deal, if only a stop-gap of sorts in the long-term - but someone who could get 20 goals with the correct support, for £6m, is a good deal for any club that needs simple goals.

Spurs, for example, need a striker too, but couldn't get what they needed, so getting Dempsey is the next best thing.

LFC needs ambitious owners and owners who realise they are honoured to own a bastion of invincibility.

Remember when Kenny went on air after the Suarez - Evra handshake trick at Old Trafford? Completely unprepared on the situation and walked straight onto a SLY right hook! Made to look a right fecking idiot because our behind the scene team aren't the brightest buttons in the box. And I mean during the charge, before the handshake and after the match. We were useless. Lacked direction and leadership. We were crying out for guidance from the hierarchy and what did we receive? Not a fecking sausage.

Not Kenny's fault! :nono:

To be fair to Kenny and Ayre both have not done too bad in their intended roles. Ayre has struck some pretty impressive deals commercially and Kenny did well initially.

There is no evidence that FSG are smart operators. In fact, there is plenty of evidence that they aren't too smart.

I've never heard them say that they want to win the league.

They just seem like bumbling idiots to me who haven't got a clue what they're doing.

well they sacked kenny that was a pretty good move

your here for a laugh are you, do one!

Thread's moving way too fast for me to keep up

What's the point. If they win tomorrow, which is quite possible, then it'll all be "CL here we come!"

'A bastion of invincibility'??? Hahahaha. And also hahahahahaha.

My friend thinks Allen will be the next Xabi.

Surely Drogba or Anelka can sign for a club before January? It's not their fault that their contracts got cancelled. Sounds like a breach of human rights if they're not allowed to sign for a club, or are forced to go to a certain country just because they're transfer window is still open.
......

Fair play to Shanks, mate, he could talk a good game. Not so good in a tank though.

How can we watch this documentary?

It sounds gold, pretty much the worst thing a self-respecting club could involve itself in (apart from condoning racism etc). The fallout on RAWK and elsewhere should be amazing.

It started just before the FA Cup Final, which they thought they had already won. It was supposed to be a documentary showing the return of Liverpool, instead it seems to have captured the inevitable conclusion to the biggest P.R. feckup in their history.

Gerrard: Liverpool close to title challenge

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has hit back at Sven Goran Eriksson's suggestion that he needs to leave the club in order to win the Premier League.

Eriksson, who managed Gerrard during his spell as England boss, was quoted on Tuesday saying, "I don't begrudge a good guy like Steven winning the Premier League. But maybe he needs to change clubs if he wants to win that title."

However, Gerrard insists Liverpool are closing on being a title-challenging club, having reached the final of both the League and FA Cup last season. However, they have taken just one point from their first two league matches of this campaign, following Sunday's 2-2 draw with Manchester City.

"Hopefully before I hang my boots up I can realise the dream of winning it - but I'm also realistic as well," Gerrard said on Sky Sports News.

"I don't think we're miles away. Of course we have to be realistic, we finished eighth in the league last year but we got to two major cup finals which shows we can compete with anyone on our day.

"If we find a better level of consistency we can find ourselves higher up the table than last year."

Brendan Rodgers has backed Gerrard's view, saying: "I think Steven, over the years, has had a number of chances to leave here, and he's always felt that this was a club where he could still win it. He's still got a number of years left in his career and we hope we will fight for it.

"We understand how difficult it's going to be, but I think he'll still feel that the dream is here. I don't think he needs to move anywhere."

Liverpool started their league season with a 3-0 defeat at West Brom, although there was more encouragement for Rodgers and Gerrard in the performance that brought a 2-2 draw against champions Manchester City last Sunday.

Rodgers added: "This is a club which will go through difficult moments. But his dream is to win the Premier League with Liverpool, and I - along with everyone else at the club - will fight for our lives to try to make that possible.

"He's an iconic figure for this football club. His status - everything he's gained in the game - has been through Liverpool Football Club. He's won every major honour you could possibly win at this club. And obviously there's one missing that he will want to fight for the rest of his career to win here.

"Thankfully with Steven, he's realistic as well. He knows the reality. He's not misguided. Sven obviously had his reasons for saying what he said. But I'm delighted with Steven's contribution. He's been brilliant since I've been here.

"I've seen in from the outside, but from working with him, as a man and as a player, he's a wonderful role model for everyone here. So let's see if we can fight to win it ourselves, and hope that he can stay here and be a real ambassador for the club."

 Is that real? Wasn't Gerrard admitting that he will probably never win the league a few days ago?

Another great display of big bren's tiki taka revolution today, will tune in here later for a good evening's entertainment.

Their cup final is in a couple of weeks. That's all that really matters.

One man team

Are you serious? I'm sick of hearing it, said it when we had Ronaldo and Rooney at the same time, then when Ronnie left we became a one man team with Rooney. Now we've got Rooney and RVP, we're still a one man team? Morons.

Its always the same. I honestly couldn't care less about comments like that now. Every year we are a one man team but our one man keeps changing.
