RAWK Goes Into Meltdown (2011/2012)

Come to think of it, you know this jobless thing.

The guy has been working hard since the 70's studying, playing football, learning coaching, coaching, managing, mismanaging, giving clever press conferences and interviews, getting into fights with his employers and colleagues, endless buying and selling of players, photo shoots without any break but as soon as he made Liverpool his home.....

I don't get this Alistair character. Why would he come into a thread, specifically made to laugh at RAWK, and start a big defence of Liverpool/Rafa, as if to chastise us for having fun at their (actually no-ones, since they're not here) expense?

It's like going to a kid in a ball pool and explaining that they shouldn't play with the balls.

Because he's an attention seeker.

Storey steals his thunder in Arsenal topics, and let's be fair, storey actually has wit and intelligence, so Al just tends to follow him around 'me tooing' his posts to seek approval.

But Al then has to get his attention seeker fix by masquerading as a pseudo- Liverpool fan instead and trying to drag topics off course by being contrary and talking shite which he can't back up.

Case in point:

Well I just thought it unfair to include add-ons with one, and not the other. And just coming in with abuse is a bit pathetic to be honest, it just makes you look like a bit of a twat who takes the internet very seriously.

He says it's unfair to include add-ons for one figure and not the other. That's exactly what he did but he lacks the intelligence or awareness to see why.

He bumped on £4m of add-ons onto Keane's selling figure (without explaining why) and ignored the £1.3m added to the buying figure, even though that was additional compensation, not speculative add-ons.

Talking shite which he can't back up. And it's this shite which forms the basis of his 'sympathy' for Benitez.

:smirk:

Don't be so quick Al.

It's a token thing added to give his publicity stunt an air of respectability.

A bit like an X Factor or Big Brother contestant saying they'll donate some of their winnings (basically nothing at all) to an AIDS charity because their sister's boyfriend's uncle's dog has AIDS.

I would respect it more if the whole thing was about charity. But it seems more like a publicity stunt designed to keep his profile up whilst he's out of the game.

Don't think he's a bad manager is the crux of it.

a) Won a CL - it's an astonishing achievement with that squad. Arguably the worst squad of players to have ever won the CL.

b) Pushed Liverpool on another level. Made them finish top 4 every year til the disastrous season of 09/10.

c) Brought the best out of Gerrard - signed Torres and Mascherano. That Liverpool side of 09, whilst not being deep enough, was a really good team which played some good, tactical football at times. Beat Real Madrid 4-0. Won in the Nou Camp and Bernebeu. He had some great moments.

but, he's a rival manager

so what? why do you care so much?

being an Arsenal fan like

Alastair's passion for Rafa's 'work' at Liverpool, and the way he clearly would argue Rafa's defence until the end of time if need be (even though facts and hundreds of posters have correctly argued and continue to argue otherwise), belies his assertion that he is just an Arsenal supporter trying to point out a neutral opinion of a rival manager. Clearly he is either:

(a) A Liverpool fan (likely)
(b) A Rafa fanboi with a worrying obsession that won't die (very likely)
(c) Mentally insane (possibly)
(d) Rafa himself (Hmmm)
(z) All of the above

He has the second most posts in this thread and he claims that WE are obsessed.

Notwithstanding the fact that he is an Arsenal fan posting on a United board...

Can anyone provide some insight into this...

I see nothing wrong with this post. I have not read the rest of the thread, but whats the issue?

He doesn't limit himself to defending Benitez. He also defends stupid remarks from posters on RAWK despite not agreeing with them. Definitely a Scouse.

His blogs aren't bad, to be fair. Much better than the average internet gimptard. Although they should be, for obvious reasons.

This is actually an interesting (if slightly obvious) take on the old La Liga vs PL debate.

Rafa Bentez Official Website

I agree. Let's not muddle things. This website and the appearances on tv are simply attempts to clear his horrendous public image and to get a job. Forget the charity aspect.

However one cannot deny that he knows the game pretty well. For example I found him quite interesting when he was punditing on sky last year. I also found some of his blog posts thus far interesting. He knows far more about the game than some so called experts.

I'd rather listen to him than Paul Merson or Robbie fecking Savage.

Still think he is a cnut however.

Missed this first time round (in the same rafabenitez.com thread on RAWK). An absolute classic:

Get him to tot up how much the player Benitez has bought eventually sold for. I believe you'll end up with a core of 1st teamers, Reina, Johnson, Agger, Skrtel, Lucas, Maxi, Kuyt, plus Wilson, Shelvey and sundry youngsters, costing a combined net total of around £30m. Reina and Lucas between them are worth more than that. And if they insist on using gross numbers rather than net, point out Dalglish in less than 12 months has spent over half as much as Benitez did in 72.

I care when people talk, what I believe, is rubbish about someone. If everyone decided to come up with bizarre theories about Roberto Martinez, for example, I would react in the same way. I find it bizarre that expressing an alternate opinion is treated in this way. Anyway, I'm out of this thread. You can all laugh at how deluded RAWK is to think they might get £30m out of Reina and Lucas; something which is actually quite feasible. It's not me who's strange here.

It's not unreasonable to assume £15-20m for Reina (although maybe not now that Arsenal and Man Utd and other top clubs aren't looking for a GK anymore) and over £10m for Lucas (e.g. Palacios mooted for about that price).

I'd be laughing more at how Reina aside that core of first teamers that the poster is lauding wouldn't get into our 25-man squad.

Now you play the victim card.

You wouldn't fight Martinez's corner because you wouldn't get enough attention - not enough mileage in Wigan threads.

I doubt this will be your last post in this thread.

But you really need to grasp that this is supposed to be a light-hearted thread to have a bit of a laugh and poke a bit of fun at our afflicted scouse friends. It's a laugh.

It's not really intended for self confessed Daily Mail reading curtain twitchers like you to come in and give a 4 page bullshit argument about why, amongst other things, the Robbie Keane transfer wasn't all that bad.

So no, you don't get grief for holding an opinion, you get grief for purposely derailing a light-hearted thread, in order to argue (or seek attention), and then supporting said arguments with stuff you've made up.

Nope, everyone else is the weirdo, but not you. Well, I'm convinced.

I've just read it, fully prepared to praise him but actually thought it was pretty dull and not very insightful at all.

To be fair, I don't think it's actually possible to write a blog about tactics in a game of football without a) stating the bleeding obvious and b) making anyone who reads it lose the will to live.
