RAWK Goes Into Meltdown (2011/2012)

Yes, losing £8m. 'Pretty much' made their money back.

If by pretty much you mean, not even close.

Liverpool's recent troubles can be directly attributed to Benitez's revolving door transfer policy, which basically took the form of throwing enough shit at a wall and eventually some of it will stick.

Spend that kind of money and you're going to come up trumps a few times, but even when Benitez did find the odd success he'd often find a way to feck that up too.

Keane went for £19m, returned for £16m.

The rest of the post is complete rubbish too.

Too much emphasis is placed on transfer spending when it comes to things like this, the amount of money the club spends on wages is at least as important when evaluating a manager.

Another Liverpool fan who uses Liverpool fansite LFCHistory for his transfer fees?

He cost £20.3m. BBC SPORT | Football | My Club | Liverpool | Liverpool complete Keane transfer

£19m transfer fee plus £1.3m in further compensation (not add-ons), totalling £20.3m.

Sold for £12m. BBC SPORT | Football | My Club | Tottenham | Keane seals £12m Tottenham return

Plus add-ons probably never fulfilled.

Are you ever right about anything?

You just spend your entire time on RedCafe being corrected and pulled up for talking shite.

So (in your own world) what are the relative net spends of the top four during that period?

 I love the way you post an article which proves my point, top work there.

I spend my entire time on redcafe trying to stop myths people like you create about managers spreading. There's no point with people like you though - you're just a bit mental.

Sometimes your stupidity defies belief. Those articles don't support you at all.

You ignored the £20.3m, and you changed the selling figure from £12m to a mythical £16m mentioned nowhere.

I know you struggle with simple concepts, and have admitted to being borderline retarded in terms of maths, but this is really poor.

They'll praise him, because he was great for them. His job for Villa, on the other hand, wasn't as good as it is reported. Look at their financial situation now.

So he's a good manager then? Glad we cleared that up.

Wait a minute, how the hell do the articles prove your point?

'The general public opinion of Rafa in this country has been entirely manipulated by the media. Ask any opposition fan about him and they will tell you he spent hundreds of millions on rubbish players, whereas anyone with the facts at hand can see he spent between £10-11m a season (net) and brought us some of the best players in our history.

This doesn't just extend to fans but the people who run the game, how many club chairmen in this country would be willing to appoint Rafa as manager? Even Villa fans thought they were too good for him.'

That is very true.

Yes, it probably explains why Inter fecked him out so quickly too.

I think Inter is a perfect example of the quality and appeal Rafa provides top clubs.

I spend my entire time on redcafe trying to defend anything slightly derogatory to my beloved Rafa and Liverpool football club

Fixed!

I had a brief look at that article, and when I saw Aquilani was down for £20m, it immediately lost credibility. I don't believe they paid anything like that in the end.

On the 8th August 2009, Roma released a detailed breakdown of the transfer fees for Alberto Auqilani.

I thought Al supported Arsenal but from the looks of things since page 35 he's either a Liverpool fan or has a crush on Rafa. Perhaps both.

Liverpool winning that cup in 2005 bloated Rafa's legacy and inflated his ego. The fact he failed to deliver a league title to the club, and also allowed United to reach and eventually surpass in league trophy hauls, renders his leadership at the club as a failure. That's a facht!

Is he such a legend in their eyes because of one European Cup?

Benitez is a legend with some of their fans. Don't let the page-long RAWK hagiographies fool you- there are plenty of Liverpool fans who were glad to see the back of him.

Getting back to this Benitez website. What is he doing?

It's embarrassing on every level.

I know he's at a bit of a loose end but setting up a website? What? Shall we expect to see him on Strictly Come Dancing or I'm a Celeb next?

The thought of Fergie or Wenger doing something like this makes me cringe with embarrassment. Lose your job at an English club after fecking them up, feck up a big foreign club, don't get any more job offers, set up a website.

Obviously the goal will be to squeeze some dosh out of his deluded band of followers (expect a few hugely manipulative articles to draw them in and make them part with their hard earned cash) but how much money does he really need?

He must be rolling in it with two massive pay-offs 2 years straight?

Alaistair's beloved Arsenal are in the doldrums and here he is on a United site getting involved in a spat about an ex manager of Liverpool.

You have to wonder about the nouveau fan on the internet.

You've got to admit that was a shrewd piece of business by the Scousers. Look at the money they saved by sticking in those add ons. Crafty feckers.

To be fair O'Neill and Benitez are very similar. Their main attribute is their ability to motivate a team. However when it comes to buying players they are both totally inept and both left their clubs in similar if not worse positions than when they took over.

O'Neill inflated Villa's wage bill to over 80% of their turnover, when historically they have been one of the few clubs to live within their means. He bought absolute dross including:

Delph @ £6m
L. Young @ £5m
Shorey @ £4m
Sidwell @ £5m
Heskey @ £3.5m
Harewood @ £4m
Reo-coker @ £7.5m
Beye @ £2.5m
Cuellar @ £8m
Arguably Warnock @ £7m

Whilst at the same time keeping a tiny squad that always fell away after Christmas, despite letting what would be decent squad players (or first team players) leave:

Ridgewell
Gary Cahill (especially bad decision)
Gardner
Aaron Hughes

He did very well with the mediocrity he bought though to be fair to him, motivating them to 6th three times in a row. Then Lerner told him that the purse strings would be tightened after his £100m+ investment and he bailed.

Both O'Neill and Benitez would probably be much better off with no control whatsoever over transfers.

Bitter isn't the word. Whatever I(or he) think of Benitez, my view isn't bitter. There's no reason for me to be bitter on it, I don't support either team.

Oh and I love Benitez, he gave the scousers plenty of hope! He even won the CL, which is more than can be said for most managers.

His meltdown has been entertaining too. He's like the Charlie Sheen of the football world :)
