Next year lads, next year

Some words of wisdom my friend.

It's both funny and sad at the same time to see a whole club and it's supporters living in a bubble where they can't see the forest for the trees.

Some of my closest friends who are long time Pool supporters are pending between deep denials and loosing their hope's. Sometimes they really tries to be rational but then emotions come in their way and feck things up and then they are back to the conspiracy theories or "next season" syndrome. There are times when I laugh behind their back but lately I have to show sympathy when we discuss the clubs shortcomings otherwise we end up in ugly arguments leading nowhere. Who would have thought that ten fifteen years ago..

my nephew is Liverpool mad...he is far away. I wont talk about footie when I talk to him...not much anyway ;)

We weren't that bad. I just think that we're lucked out this season.

If we don't stay firmly behind the management at the club then we are just another set of spineless supporters.

Now this is our test as supporters - we will find out what we're made of. I'm 110% behind Kenny and the management - they must be given time to learn from the mistakes of this season and start plans for next season. I still see great potential in many of our players.

 Yep, it's all bad luck, but next year....

In general, I enjoy Utd winning far more than I ever enjoy the failure of others, but I have to admit, when Reina was sent off I couldn't wipe the smile off my face

Perch should be ashamed of himself. Well done lad, you got a fellow professional footballer sent off. Well done. Proud of himself when he'll be watching MOTD tonight.

 well done reina, you headbutted a fellow professional. well done.

Liverpool lose, Carroll gets subbed & they end up with Jose Enrique in goals. This is more embarrassing for Liverpool than Desperate Scousewives

I can't get over the fact that the blame never lies with Liverpool as a club or a Liverpool player. It is hilarious to read that shit.

Just think, there's still the possibility of a Hodgson win and a Torres goal at Anfeild. Things could still get so much better.

Liverpool and England right-back Glen Johnson, who is not playing today, has tweeted about Pepe Reina's red card: "What have I just seen? Is Perch for real?! Joke."

Manchester United and England defender Rio Ferdinand on Twitter: "Newcastle have fully deserved this win versus Liverpool. They're finishing the season very well."

Well beaten by a better side. The red card changed nothing.

We got outplayed there too and likewise deserved to lose.

It's never their fault though is it?

Today going be interesting and over the few weeks, i can already say what will be said:
1)Kenny to go
2)We making progress
3) Don't care we won a cup
4)All players fault
5)Your Manc, Wum etc etc few more name calling
6)Bring back Rafa
7) FSG fault they didn't spend
8) Comoli Fault
9)Ref Fault we been cheated all season
10)Kenny or staff doing something wrong

So there we have it good 10 points to start with clearly there will be some in between enjoy the fighting ;)

Reina knew the rule.
well deserved.

same thing happened to Ronaldo. I did not blame the other player.

I do. Yes, Reina was an idiot. But going down like you've been shot after your forehead has been brushed is disgusting.

Totally agree - but have to say (and doesn't happen often) that the ref' got it spot on - Perch deserved the yellow for simulation and Reina the red for his "head-butt"

yeah, people keep dismissing the fact that Perch was punished. The referee knew he dived so that has nothing to do with it. The ref saw the headbutt and punished reina.

This is the meltdown thread but this is a good post by Siannn.

First of all, MOTM Enrique for that belter of a save at the end. Skillz.

I don’t really know what to say about that performance, other than this.

I expect there’ll be people in this thread shortly reminding us of our Carling Cup win and the fact that we’ve got an FA Cup semi-final in just under two weeks. I want to make it perfectly, absolutely clear that I think that’s brilliant. I really, really do. I was made up when Kenny took us back to Wembley and we lifted that cup, and I will be even more made up should we beat Everton and eventually lift the FA Cup. But, then, we won’t have our fecking goalkeeper for that. I won’t talk about that because I might actually fecking cry. Anyway, where was I? Cups are ace. Cups are bloody fecking brilliant. I love cups, right? Cupsy cups cups. Cups are awesome.

This is the thing. What I’ve just seen, and what I saw against Wigan, and what I saw against QPR, is a group of individuals that love cups even more than me. We’re not finishing fourth, so what the feck is the point in us trying in the league anymore? There isn’t any point, is there? Because we’re not finishing fourth. So that’s it. feck the league, feck pride, feck playing for the shirt, feck it all, because we’re not going to be in the Champions League next season, so let’s just play for the cups. It’s logic. Of course it’s logic, because there’s people on here who think exactly the same, isn’t there? They’ll be in this thread in a bit and they’ll be telling us that the league doesn’t matter now, we don’t need to finish as high as possible, it doesn’t make a difference to us, let’s just concentrate on the cups. I wonder if I’ll read someone saying - what was it? – oh, yes, “Fourth is no better than finishing 14th” again. That was brilliant, that was. Can’t remember who said it but it gave me a hearty chuckle so ta for that.

Those players should be embarrassed. How fecking DARE they turn out a performance like that in front of the people who spend vast amounts of money following this team up and down the country come rain or shine? They should be fecking ashamed, every single one of them, of this complete and utter capitulation in our league form. And so should the fans who aren’t arsed about it either. I don’t give a shit about getting called a member of the “Sky generation”, I only give a shit about this club. I want the absolute best for us in everything we do. We’re a long, long way from the “absolute best”, yes, so in place of that, I just want those who are getting paid thousands of pounds a week to show something resembling the pride that myself and 99% of everyone on here has in this great club. We’re Liverpool Football Club, for feck’s sake. Liverpool. Football. Club. 18 league titles, eight League Cups, seven FA Cups. Five European Cups. That’s who we are, but that isn’t who we were today.

In 2009, we were fighting to win the league. In 2012, we can’t be bothered fighting to finish in the top half.

 Good post. Anyway, onto the meltdown:

Well, there's no more eloquent word to describe that than 'clusterfeck'. Really couldn't have went much worse.

Oh and in regards to the other thread:

Perch is a dickhead, but it's modern football. Anyone who thinks Suarez wouldn't have done the same - or worse - is deluding themselves.

Really, I'm not even annoyed with Pepe. I'm so fecked off I might headbutt the cat, so it'd be hypocritical to think otherwise.

I don't want to comment on the football today because by and large it was irrelevant.
The officiating was so bad whatever the 22 players on the pitch did became largely irrelevant.

Let us analyse Atikinson's performance. Big decission by big decission.
He had to make 5 of them, he got 4 of them wrong, and every one in favor of Newcastle.

1: Carroll wrestled to ground by Williamson. Clear pen. Result: No pen given
2. Carroll dive. Result: Yellow card for carroll (only correct decission)
3. Simpson handball of the line. Correct decission = penalty and red card. Result = nothing given
4: Newcastle 2-0 goal about 3 meters offside. Result = goal given
5. Newcastle dive for Reina. Result = red card Reina

Might aswell give all the opposition players whistles of their own, let them do the officiating.

So. Those saying the game isn't bent are spot on again. I dunno what I was talking about. Nothing untoward at all. Nothing.

Oh.

Except for Newcastle not conceding a pen and being down to ten men after 10 minutes. Oh and Cisse scoring a goal despite being stood 10 yards offside.

But apart from that. Nothing.

Oh. Except for Reina getting sent off for feck all. And Perch not being sent off while already on a yellow card being last man back and comitting a cynical professional foul on Suarez.

But apart from that, the referee and linesmen were totally spot on.

You have to wonder what exactly would have to happen for some people to think "Hm. That doesn't seem right" - what would it be? Would it have to be the referee picking the ball up running twenty yards and smashing it into the top corner for some people to think something untoward was going on?

But you're right again. No controversial decisions. Again. Game after fecking game after fecking game. I'd love to stop moaning about fecking referees but I can't think of more than a handfull of games this season where we haven't been fecked over by them,

Season contend soon enough. Well reffed by Atkinson. Not.

It is absolutely crushing. I mean there are so many things that are wrong that it is hard to pick the bones.

1. Hiring a past legend out of sentiment!?
2. Players who are bought for exorbitant prices not even being worth 1/10th of that!
3. Midfield is past it. We'd be done by a league 1 side in midfield and that is the real problem.
4. The passing is atrocious, absolutely fecking disgraceful. So many misplaced passes.
5. Carroll
6. Carroll
7. I hate to even think it, but Kenny is out of his depth.

No passion

No tactics or a plan B

Gerrard walking around

Shelvey Playing creative, is subbed.
