Just to add, debut against Arsenal away and zero fecks given. Really looking forward to see him more.

Anyone knows what penalty was ETH was talking about that was commited on him ?
Haven't found anything on this

Reckon it's a bit from 0:36 - 0:43 in the video above. Not a penalty imo, surprised ten Hag even went about it (assuming that is what he meant).

Please stay fit. Please stay fit. Please stay fit. Please please please.

So much better than what we have seen in years. You just wonder why we never invested before

How didn’t he get that penalty? Defender fell onto him, didn’t get anywhere near the ball

Having three strikers, one of whom cannot stay fit, is hardly “piling players on top of each other”. We know Martial cannot be relied upon in terms of fitness nor impact, and we know he is very difficult to shift for those same reasons. Failing to ensure we have adequate cover given those facts demonstrates how poorly run our club is.

No it doesn’t. You don’t just buy another player because one is injury prone, you replace them. Which requires that player leaving.

He’s also currently fit too, so heaven knows what we’re even moaning about. This ‘poorly run club’ line is such a grating buzzword these days. We have a number of players to buy. We bought one striker. We’ll buy another next year. We’ll also probably buy a centre half next year. Not buying 6 first teamers doesn’t make a club poorly run. 2 players sharing one position is standard procedure. Martial has fitness and form issues, but he’s still here and being paid handsomely too. That may be an irrelevance to you but it’s more than that in reality.

Promising debu cameo/ We didnt get to see much more than his physicality as he wasnt well fed. But that in itself give me optimism when we play some of the weaker sides with physical defenders.

It is only really him and Mainoo that excite me in terms of progression this season. Onana, I can only remember one quality save so far this season. Not a huge criticism as none of the goals this year have been big msitakes, but its all very well people raving about his calmness with the ball at his feet, but if he cant make big saves, how valuable is that to us anyway with this current side. Lets face it, we seem unable to progress the ball from Onanao and our defenders through midfield unless a cm come really deep, its actually taking away any tempo from our play.

That is why Mainoo could be so important, none fo our midfielders are ball cariers or very quick so there is no flwo through the middle most of the time. Mainoo and even Hannibal could well change that.

Apart from he obvious form of our big players, really think us cracling the top four its vital we keep Hoijlund and Mainoo fit and that they perform and that is intself quite concerning a lot of our season could depend on two very young inexpeerienced players

Are you seriously trying to argue that we have been well run? That the lack of balance and adequate quality and cover in our squad is nothing to do with how the club has been run for years? That players remaining here despite contributing so little has nothing to do with that? That the Glazers and their lackies have been doing a good job!?

You’re having a laugh surely?

Failing to get rid of players who have consistently shown they are not up to scratch is indicative of the club’s failures, not an excuse for it. You don’t see other well run big clubs carrying so much deadwood.

And yes, we are constrained financially, but again, that is because of how poorly run the club is, not an excuse for it.

Guy is going to be quality and a huge difference for us. We were the better team after his sub IMO

Nothing we can spdo about him bbeing paid. That was a mistake made while ago.

But him still being here is absolutely on the owners and their way of doing things. A proper club would pay him off, get him out of the club. And to cover for him, would get an older stop gap

We ended Weghorst loan deal and we also loaned out Greenwood, that is two players leaving and we have only signed one.

This also a summer when the Saudis have been trying to sign anybody they can yet as it stands Bailly, Maguire, VDB, McTominay and Martial are still here amongst others I hasten to add.

The answere may be wages and players unwilingness to leave, but how the hell are all that still here as it stands? Twp pf those have barely made an appearance in two seasons yet cost about £70m, Martial is in what hi sseventh or eighth season here.

There are probably only a couple of clubs around the top half of the table who have raised less in sales than us and we had more players to move on than most sides.

We have spent £60m on a player in the last year of his contract to play a position he doesnt seem ideal to when there are a few deals within the same division for the same money on players on contracts or far less that on paper look to fit what we needed in our midfield.

Of course our recruitment in and out has been poorly ran, must be blinkered to suggest otherwise. There is also the "next season we will sign a, b and c"....I hear that every year, yet our deadwood still remains the same numbers and the what we need threads are still for the same positions as the season before.

Next summer we could well possibly be talking about needing to move on Lindelof, Maguire, Bailly, Varane, Dalot, Williams, Pellestri, McTominay, Martial, VDB, Martial, Greenwood....could still be a big number. Out what we need could well include 3cb, a number 8, back up number 10, rw, second striker.

Our business this summer is a regression from where we were in comparison to oru competitors. Hoijlund we over paid for, but he is the one huge bright spot signing fro melike Martinez was last year. The one in one out philosophy is pretty floored when we are moving out mainly players barely around the fringes of the squad, raising barely any money and failing to move on players on big wages that have done little to nothing for the club, some over several years, of course we have been poorly ran. We have only had two godo premiership campaigns where we weere still way off those above us and both seasons big clubs liek Chelsea and Liverpool had stinkers of seasons

Very well said, absolutely nailed it.

Face looks about 14. Held off the defenders like Drogba. Some nice little flicks.

Will be interesting to see how his finishing is when he gets sight of goal - that will make or break this transfer.

He's no Martial though.. the boy scored a worldie on his debut vs Liverpool. Shame the man has blown so hot and cold

Really loved what I saw from him, and what a difference the sub made. Felt we had the upper hand after he came on and thought we could win.

We were in the game until the end, we'll have to take that as a positive.

I think its got lost in all the bed wetting about the result, but he looked an outstanding prospect, scared the shit out of probably the 2nd best CB pairing in the league...

I didn't think it was, but to be fair if you think of it as a genuine 1v1 then Hojlund is getting shot away if he's not brought down, Gabriel made zero attempt to play the ball and just takes him out.

It's the fact that Saliba is there to cover and takes the ball whilst the foul is taking place that casts doubt over whether it's a pen.

Didn’t get to see much of him on the ball but enjoyed his physicality and willingness to compete. Looked fast to during that attack where Rashford failed to do anything.

Looks like he could have a transformative effect. Our entire midfield are rubbish on the half-turn and most of our attackers don’t like playing with their back to goal. Straight away he looked like he loved the physical battle, and he finally gave our midfielders a chance to get the ball with the play in front of them.

Happy with that debut. Initiated a few attacks with his good hold up play, looked to run the channel and almost got a penalty.

Will be delighted if we manage to sell Martial twice!

Looks an absolute handful physically, good pace for running in behind and showed some good hold up ability under pressure. As G.Nev put it looks like he has the ability to turn bad balls into good ones.

How long has it been since we had a proper CF who could do that? Feels like a long long time. Very early days of course and he did all also look very raw but I'm excited to see more of him looking forward to him mauling defenders.

He's got a bit of mongrel in him the way he bullies centrebacks. No fecking about and I love that.
