Raphael Varane

This is a stupid argument but you cannot know that line is parallel with the camera. Daft comment. What you can see is how someone has arms and shoulders (Jones) are in front of Rodwell I.E Father Ted Farther away.

feck off, man, he's not gonna look three inches taller than he is just because he's stood perhaps four inches closer to the camera than Rodwell! FFS. He's quite clearly matching Rodwell for height and a couple of inches taller than 6ft Mancienne; if you can't see that from the picture then you're fecking blind and there's no point in anyone trying to tell you any different.

Serious business this internets.

Ha,Ha, I will have to change my mind now 'someone' has changed his wiki profile 6ft 4 1/2 so it must be true muppet.

Although the link used as reference has him at 5ft 11" weird.

This deserves its owns thread instead of poor Ralphies.

He's going to PSG, they matched our offer and you would expect to stay in L1 at this stage of his career. His partnership with Sakho will be promising.

Jones looked to be the same height as Welbeck, who is listed at 6 ft 1.

Oh good, actual Varane news rather than talking about how tall Phil Jones is or isn't!!

Along with the staying in France thing he would get a lot more games there than here (unless he is so amazingly good he manages to work his way above Smalling, Jones and Evans), so makes a lot of sense for him to go to PSG.

Can't say I'm too bothered - know nothing about this kid and we're ridiculously well-stocked at centre-back. Even if he turns out to be excellent in a few years time I'm fairly confident that with Smalling, Evans and Jones we will still have one of the best defences in Europe.

I'm sorry, but what exactly has this got to do with Phil Jones' height?

That's a terrible example.

More poignantly, people actually vary in height up to a full inch from the time they get up in the morning to the time they go to bed. Has to do with the compression of gasses in the spinal discs due to the pressure exerted by being upright over the course of a day.

Always measure yourselves straight after getting out of bed, people.

So early kick offs are better for him then, assuming he isn't up all night partying. And he should sleep in as long as possible.

You should aim for late kick-offs. And make him sleep until until an hour before kick-off

Does anyone think we could have the dwarfism surgery done on Phil Jones where they break his legs and let them fuse back together longer to get him the extra inch so he's 6 feet?

May cost us a year or two of his career but at least we wouldn't be the mugs with a 5' 11" centreback.

Apologies if already posted...

Lens are prepared to cash in on the youngster after they were relegated from Ligue 1 and United tracked the rising star's progress throughout last season.
However, Varane has said that if he does move on to one of Europe's big clubs he does not want to end up stuck on the bench and will only join United if he has a chance of featuring heavily for Sir Alex Ferguson's side.
"I know I have the choice," said Varane. "I can move abroad or I could join another club in Ligue 1 [France's top division].
"What interests me is playing regularly, so I have to think carefully and go to a club that will allow me to progress."
Competition for places in United's defence will be fierce next season, even if Varane does not sign. Ferguson has already added Blackburn's Phil Jones to a squad which includes Rio Ferdinand, Nemanja Vidic, Chris Smalling and Jonny Evans.
Reports in France suggest Real Madrid will use Zinedine Zidane's French connections to lure Varane to Spain, while Paris Saint-Germain are also said to be in contention for the player, who is able to operate as a holding midfielder as well as at the heart of the defence.

Yeah I would choose PSG if I were him.. Over both Man United as well as Real Madrid..
