Ralf Rangnick | ex-interim manager | does anyone rate him?

I wonder what excuses will be made for Rangnick after this absolute shitshow of a first half today.

I love how posters are quick to blame him

Hes caretaker for a shower of shite squads that simply won't work.

What's the point of him? 1 win in 7 unless we somehow miraculously turn this around. And that win was purely down to individual brilliance from one player. Clueless tactics and team selections. Play some fecking youth players instead of the same underperforming divas who have been stinking the place out all season.

Hire a sporting director, for a managers job and this is what you get.

We are worse than under Ole, no question about it.

How is he to blame for any of this? They played exactly like this under Ole and Jose. I couldn’t see any tactics on show under all three managers so that also tells you about the willingness to implement them. Personally we should ALL be putting any blame on the players and the board/recruitment.

when Ten Hag comes in and the same happens, are we going to say he’s useless too? Because if he also fails, we’re kinda out of options…..

The stats don't lie, he's the worst manager we've had post Fergie

Has slightly improved the defence but we’re so toothless in attack under him.

Starting to think we’d of been better of keeping ole, this guys even more clueless! It’s a joke. Thought he was all about pressing and playing forward passes. We constantly playing back and crap ourselves! Get rid of at least 9 of that starting team! Absolute embarrassing.

Mind blowing that folks think he's the problem here

Most this team have checked out around the Liverpool hammering.

All easier said and done by saying play the kids, I say that too, but do you honestly think he has that sort of clout to just scrap the team of internationals and fire the kids on when realistically champs league spot still up for grabs.

He been dealt a terrible hand lately, only way you can fix these out of form players and downed tools players is see ya in summer.

I still blame the players more.

Getting done on tactics is the managers fault, not putting in a shift against relegation fodder is the players fault.

I can't fathom these conversations anymore. Surely we can agree that moyes, van gaal, mourinho, solskjaer and Rangnick aren't ALL absolutely shite and unable to get any bit of consistency or style. The club is a mess and Woodward oversaw a catastrophic decade of mix and match rubbish and every manager is paying the price. We have no identity on or off the pitch, we've become a completely soulless mess of a club

Exactly, having these bad results and performances from the same twats that have stunk the place all year, and he keeps playing them expecting to suddenly have it click.

What are his tactics though? I don’t see any evidence of anything resembling a game plan. We look the exact same team we did when Ole was sacked.

Does he not train the team all week and pick the team?

These players aren't this bad.

He's been a colossal mistake.

No one is giving a feck here. Ralph hasn't done anything noteworthy but players just don't give a damn. The only player who actually cares has gone off injured. . Just play some youth and see if they are any better.

Its true.

This shower of shite have chewed up and spat out most iterations, so any caretaker had no chance.

Hes here to instruct and evaluate before undoubtedly passing stern recommendations to turf out the deadwood. Im fine with that.

Ralf hasn't managed a top club but we know his style. We know how Hoffenheim and RB and Shalke would play. We know these players dont want to do that.

Blaming Ralf is so fecking hilarious its almost like some of these fans deserve it for their mindless finger pointing to the wrong person.

These players are fecking shite. Its not all about talent. Anyone who thinks thay is an imbecile.

I'm still confident he'll be crucial in squad building behind the scenes but let's call a spade a spade.
He's a TERRIBLE TERRIBLE manager. Keeping him beyond the summer to get Enrique would have sunk this club 6 feet under and I'm frankly baffled some people on here suggested we look into such a ridiculous idea

Manager's regularly get turn around results and get more out of a team than the sum of it's parts.

Anyone who thinks Favre, Garcia, Fonseca or Valverde couldn't do better than this is a complete imbecile.

You won't see the tactics if the players don't put in a shift.

Two managers look the same, you should ask whats the constant. The players.

Surely when Rangnick took over the brief was simple. Finish in the Top 4 and assess the squad.

He's not going the first objective so we have to hope his judgement is correct on assessing the squad. He's failed as an intern manager. No matter if we're able to turn it around today, we aren't finishing Top 4 in this form with the fixtures we have remaining. We can blame the squad checking out, but it's his job to keep them motivated and fighting for the Top 4. He just isn't a good manager, lets hope he has a positive long term effect in building the club back up.

Dear lord there are some idiots in this thread. Just perhaps take a moment to wonder why a manager who likes to press, play a high energy game and create a lot of quick turnovers has us playing pretty much exactly like we played under Ole. Either he has suddenly seen the light and realises now that the sort of football Liverpool and basically every other top team plays is rubbish... or hes struggling to get this bunch of overpaid cnuts to do anything he has asked of them.

Maybe, just maybe they aren't doing what he has asked them to do and hes basically babysitting them until the end of the season. I hope he sticks around and tells the next manager exactly the sort of pricks he has inherited and clears out 80% of the squad.

RR is not the best manager in the world but hes not this bad. Hes not told the players to jog around the pitch, not track their men or put even a token effort in when closing a man down. He hasn't told Ronaldo to completely lose his first touch and goalscoring ability. He hasn't told Greenwood to be a complete scumbag.

Boggles my mind that some of you think that RR has the team doing even the basics of what he will have been trying to impress upon them for the past 3-4 months.

These players have been throwing managers under the bus for years so whats a temporary manager to them. They get their fat paycheques regardless and a load of them are off at the end of the season so seem to give even fewer shits.

The players just don't give a shit.

Directing any attention to the manager is exactly what these clowns on the field want. Stop enabling them.

What are his tactics though? I don’t see any evidence of anything resembling a game plan. We look the exact same team we did when Ole was sacked.

It’s down to the players to act on his instructions; we know his style of play from previous teams. What we are seeing now isn’t his football.

I don’t think he’s going out and telling them to play like shite - it’s far more likely the players can’t / won’t follow his instructions. Which is partly on him for not enforcing. Or possibly compromising on his vision due to player complaints / lack of understanding.

I do see some vague semblance of a tactical plan early on in games - we at least seem to be TRYING to pass it quicker and earlier for example - but it immediately falls apart as soon as anything adversarial happens, or we fail to create enough chances and start to get the yips.

Basically he just has no motivational qualities. Whereas Ole was all motivation and minimal game plan, we’ve naturally done the most obviously knee jerk thing and plumped for someone with all game plan but no personal touch. A robotic professor type who may have taught Klopp a thing or two about tactics, but never had the inspirational edge to actually become a top tier dude himself… if you can do, if you can’t…. Etc etc

Great stuff as usual, United.

If they aren’t putting in a shift and it undermines your tactics then pick players who will. Don’t do the same thing over and over and expect things to magically change. He’ll get paid millions for this. I could pick eleven players and be honest in interviews for half that.

He won’t drop them because he’s trying to get the job permanently.

The board should never have made it like this.

He’s trying to appease the big players because he’s desperate to keep the job.

Hes a caretaker with a squad thats completely and utterly utterly broken. The managers you named are in no way shape or form proven to implement the quick fix you want.

100%

If those managers won 40 % of the games they would've been hounded out ages before they actually were sacked. Stop making excuses for this loser.

He isn't building for the future. If he was playing some kids and not getting results he'd be getting a free pass from most fans. But he's not doing that.

I'm still confident he'll be crucial in squad building behind the scenes but let's call a spade a spade.

Be honest, we didn't look this bad under Ole. Our attackers looked like they could attack and our defenders were relatively good for the two seasons prior to this.. We weren't great, didn't really control games, but we were attacking. We were scoring goals. As annoying as they are, we were never this bad under Ole. That's on Rangnick.

Hasn't been able to get a tune out of the squad a manager who thought he was playing football manager built and we let him have the reigns for three years. I'm shocked.
