They do have some promising talents in their academy and if resources aren't there to buy then play the youngsters

I think he means that Sterling has more kids.

Perhaps the two weren't linked despite the quote and he actually meant to say

"They do have some promising talents in their academy and if resources aren't there to buy then play the youngsters" ;)

Because it's a very good point. Fill out the team/squad with the promising youngsters and spend what we have on quality rather than quantity.

Yep hes long been a big prospect. A lot of their other supposed talents havent really developed for them, Suso/Pacheco.

He's certainly broken through now.

Suso looks decent. Very comfortable on the ball and cool hair too.

so why is this still being discussed here? he's gone to liverpool get over it. can't this be moved to out of this forum to general?

Cripes!

He looks like a raving homosexual who earns his living as a backing dancer in 'Cats the Musical'.

He's not gone anywhere. He was already at Liverpool. He seemingly wants to go back to London and Brendan Rodgers said a few weeks ago that he won't be getting a bumper contract.

This is all happening in your head, isn't it? Go on, be honest.

He was a cockney to begin with now he is jus a cock. victim cock but still----

I thought the whole "victim" shit might have got a rest for a while after recent events. Perhaps only for the intelligent ones?

Have to say, I haven't been overly impressed any time I've seen him play. I haven't really seen him do anything to seperate him from Walcott/Lennon. I know he's only 17, but still, he doesn't justify the hype imo. Thought Suso looked to be a more intelligent and technical player than Sterling if I'm honest, although he did give the ball away a few times when he came on today.

The raw materials are there, the end product is not. He is only 17, he has plenty of time to move past the level of the Lennon's of this world. The lad is still potential, at this point, I wouldn't want him anywhere near our first team, were he a United player.

Disagree, he passes and moves well. He doesn't look to run at his full back every given opportunity and can spot a pass, deliver a ball and has way more variety in his game at this tender age than the other two would manage over the course of a career. I see a bright future for him barring injury and managed appropriately.

Dont compare him to Lennon, Lennon is an over hyped shower of shite, Sterling at least has some talent.

He's got the same look about him though, doesn't he(no racist)? Pacey, little and not too intelligent on the ball. Seems a bit 'headless chickeny' at times.

Can't see any way you can come to that conclusion to be honest, especially after the game today. Him and Suarez were isolated for long spells and yet he did very well. Took players out of the game and kept the ball under pressure all game. Didn't look remotely out of place in an intense game against a good side. Think he looks like a real prospect and not really anything like Walcott or Lennon at all

I think he's pretty smart on the ball personally, definitely smarter than other young wingers that I've seen older than him. Plus reckon he has much better close control than someone like lennon, he's very good at working his way past his marker either going on the outside or inside.

He's been Liverpool's best player several times this season. He knows how and when to pass the ball with 1.9 key passes a game so far this season. Putting some perspective on that only Van Persie, Valencia and Buttner have created chances more often for us with passes this season. For Liverpool only Gerrard and Suarez have created more. He's also made more than 2 tackles a game showing he isnt a passanger defensively and works for the team as well. Thats actually 5th most tackles per game for Liverpool this season and would be 4th for United.

While he's not the second coming, he's done very very well for a young player selected in pretty much all of Liverpool's matches against the best teams in the league. These are performances earned against the best teams not relegation fodder.

Have you watched him at all?

How would we feel about SAF bringing him to OT on a free this summer? I am all for it, just for the laughs.

I think he is class, an excellent touch, positioning, decision making and maturity for a 17 year old is evidence of his talent. Obviously his speed and skills are there for all to see but the way he uses his team mates for a player of his age is very impressive.

Not sure which player you were watching but i've been watching him for Liverpool's last 4-5 games and I have to say when you consider he is still only 17 and playing now at the highest level then from what I've seen so far the hype is justified.

He is seperated from Lennon and Walcott instantly by the fact that he isn't blisteringly fast, he is more rapid(moves and changes direction very quickly rather than covering a lot of ground very fast). He has very good close control and as mentioned the thing that really stands out about him is that even a 17, 9/10 he will make the right choices when in the attacking 3rd. Susso might have looked good today(debatable) however he was terrible in their last game against Newcastle, where as Sterling and Suarez are the only 2 reasons why they got out of that game without another home defeat.

He has been a real shinning light for them thus far this season which partly shows just how dire they have been this season but also - when taking into account his age and the fact that (injury allowing) with 2 more seasons at the top he would still only be 19/20 and should have learned alot more not just about how to be a bit more of a goal threat but also how be more effective defensively (thought he is hardly a liability in that area) - shows just how much potential is there.

I'd happily take him in our squad although he wouldn't quite yet be a starter week in week out he would - form being what it is - soon enough he'd become a regular in the first team.

He's very talented, unfortunately. Those of you comparing him to Lennon etc will look silly.

If he was our player breaking through and playing like he has been; I can only imagine the hype on here.

Have some perspective, he is 17 and has generally looked good. He is hardly going to be a finished product at 17! And as for the general hype around him, maybe some have gone a tad bit too far, but that is expected, he is young and English afterall.

Potential to be a very good winger. Good speed, strength and balance, very decent touch and control, plus decent enough crossing and he is a fairly good finisher. Really positive with his runs too.

Don't think he has the necessary vision or manipulation of his passes to be a really great player in the middle but if he stays as a wide player he could be a real handful for most fullbacks.

You should've stopped right there.

He's not really a Winger he's a forward, perhaps an inside Forward if you like.

He's game isn't to stay close to the touch line offering width, its actually to tuck inside a little more and actually attempt to run through the center/cut inside at times.

yeah, it was strange in the England u-21s Vs Serbia first leg where Zaha, Ince and Sterling all played.

I thought that Ince and Zaha were both far more effective (apart from their finishing!) than Sterling was but yet the commentators were just constantly praising his influence. Of course they are both older than him but they were really biased towards the lad there.

I think he has huge potential, it may be too much to ask for in 2014, but by 2016 I'd hope we will have he and Oxlade as inside forwards, Welbeck, Rooney, Cleverley and Wilshere forming the centre.

Given a chance to have one, i'd want Sterling over either of the 2 here at United. He has the tools to become a very good player, the other 2 are just fast players and not much else. Am surprised you dont see anything in him, he's very good for a 17yr old. Him being at a club with shite players will help him a lot as he wouldnt get this chance at any other good club.

He's very talented, unfortunately. Those of you comparing him to Lennon etc will look silly.

Yep, he has the tools to become a genuinely top player. Had he been a United player, people would be wanking over him. I'l never understand how people can totally write off players like Sterling and then with a straight face hype our own youngsters as potential world beaters.

Exactly. We've had Welbeck could be the next Henry posts here but people cannot accept that Sterling's a talent. In any case, these people are the minority, happens.

People forget that less than 18 months ago he was sitting in a classroom doing his GCSE's. He's now playing against experienced, fully developed players, in one of the toughest leagues in the world - The lad has got 3 plus years of catching up to do physically. He'll be quicker & stronger when he gets to 20/21. We'll have a better idea then as to his true potential. As it is, if Stewart Downing had lived up to even half his price tag, I seriously doubt Rodgers would have had to use the lad quite as much as he has.

Sterling is a decent player so I dunno where the 'headless chicken' thing came from, probably just watching highlights. Having seen him in their academy and reserves you can see he knows what he is doing rather than just running at players.

Borell did/does decent work over there and having Segura helped too. Like FCBarca said they have a few decent players coming through like Ojo, Ibe and Sinclair.
