To be fair, he was almost used as an out-ball for the majority of the first half. It kind of reminded me of Smalling being out there, in terms of him being passed the ball (often at knee height) completely isolated. Being expected to control the ball and be positive as a man closes him down immediately.First two minutes, he ran around Blind and got a nice ball between him and Jones. I thought here we go, then he disappeared for the whole match. If Sterling doesn't have the 'stamina' to out-stamina Fellaini/Blind then maybe we should take the money now. He is fundamentally a winger who was shoe-horned into playing in the middle/up front this season. Out of all the players I was disappointed in for various reasons, he was top of the list.

You say he was "shoe-horned into playing in the middle/up front this season" but wasn't he central last season? Effectively playing that bridge between attack and defence, and causing havoc by turning and carrying the ball on the break?
Sorry, but he's being wasted at wing-back. You failed to sort out that right-back slot, and he's suffering for it. Winger is not wing-back. Especially in a game like Sunday's.
