If he has ambition, though, why move to Arsenal?

Precisely. I don't think it even makes sense to him from a financial point of view. Are they really going to fork out £180k/week for Sterling? I'd be very surprised if he ends up there.

I think City are the only realistic team he can move to in the PL.

If the rumours of him declining 180k a week are true he's as good as gone from Liverpool in the summer.

Is it true he has 3 kids with 3 women? Bet they'll take a fair whack of any pay increase.

He should just tell the club that being a United fan, his ambition is to play for us, whether its next year, or on a free a few years later

I think he's worth a giant salary. It boggles my mind that people think it's okay to pay some mediocre types 60K a week and let a very productive young player (with potential to be great) go instead of paying him double or triple that.

Gerrard's massive wages will be off. Just give them to Sterling. Or get rid of Borini and Lambert, that's 100K right there. Replace Kolo with a youth player. That's about 50K.

Sterling's a brilliant talent obviously, but anyone else agree that Oxlade-Chamberlain is an even better talent? Injuries are his problem though, but if I had a choice between the two I'd take the Ox.

It's very close, and I do feel for Ox with all his injury woes...

It's good for England to have both at their disposal, though!

They might actually win something if they signed him and upgraded at DM and in net. Every starter here is still in their 20's (though Debuchy and Koscielny are knocking on the door).

There are certainly worse career prospects for a winger than to team up with Ozil.

----------Giroud-------- (Welbeck, Campbell)
Sanchez--Ozil---Sterling (Cazorla, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Rosicky)
------Ramsey----------- (Wilshere)
-----------DM---------- (Coquelin)
Monreal---------Debuchy (Gibbs, Bellerin)
----Koscielny-Gabriel---- (Mertesacker, Chambers)
-----------GK----------- (Ospina)

That's actually pretty strong with Schneiderlin and any keeper you rate in net.

Some money for those purchases and wages generated from selling Podolski, Sanogo, Jenkinson, Walcott and their Polish keeper whose name I can't spell and Arteta. Gotta be 35 million there combined you would think with the English tax on Walcott and Jenkinson.

Wenger has shown ambition in signing Ozil and then Sanchez, but you wonder if he has the ruthlessness to upgrade the way a Mourinho would. Tell Coquelin he's done well and has now earned a spot in the squad, but as a backup. Jettison their keeper and buy a proper number one (Ospina is the definition of a solid #2 for a proper league and CL contender) instead.

If the rumors are true and he is a United fan, then we need to do something about it, Sterling on a free.
And the state of RAWK.

He's got two years left as far as I'm aware. No chance he'll go on a free. He'll either sign a new deal or be sold for decent money.

Yeah. If he left, I would think Citeh or Chelsea would just buy him and whichever was willing to spend a bunch of give Rodgers someone he desperately covets in exchange (plus money) would just get him. Teams need English players for the quota and both those teams could use a winger (unless Cuadrado lights it up) like Sterling.

I know that, Sterling can refuse to be sold, and go on a free in 2017. I don't think that Liverpool will sell to an english team because one of United, Arsenal or City will be their rival for the last CL spot.

Sterling should look at Bale and Ronaldo, and stay as far as possible from Real Madrid, Barcelona are loaded in his position and Bayern could be a good place but it will be very complicated and Guardiola won't stay long.

He's not going anywhere on a free, you guys really think he's happy being on £35K PW for the next two years?

He's either signing a bumper contract or leaving, and I doubt he'll be coming United. More chance of the moon turning blue.

I can't see Liverpool selling him to another PL club, unless City are offering stupid money like £40m+ he still has lots of potential and is suited to the league, he will certainly haunt them for years if he stays in England.

I don't know, I just can't bring myself to jump on the Sterling bandwagon. He looks decent sometimes but he just reminds me of a young SWP or Aaron Lennon (non racist) just a small, quick footed winger with bags of pace. Maybe it's because there isn't a lot of English olayers like him about at the moments

Be fecking hilarious if he left Pool for another rival club. Old lollana would have to step up eh

Obscene amounts being rumoured, a gamble for a club to pay a hefty transfer fee plus £200K a week.

He'll go city because they really need home grown players. They'll pay him top dollar too.

I can see why he'd want the move, I've heard he's not a Liverpool fan. Ultimately most players will go where the money is, and you can't blame them.

There have been murmurings for a while that his family want him back down south.

I don't want him here personally, he strikes me as someone who's going to massively flop after a 50M move.

Really? Think he'd be great here... We have a strong manage and a very level headed squad. He will be a star from a boy amongst seasoned winners i.e. Rooney, Di Maria, Mata, Carrick, RVP.. We don't do the superstar stuff unless it benefits our marketing ;)

People suggesting he could end up here, I can't see it. Not unless he were looked at as a #10 and Oscar is sold.

City look the most likely if he leaves.

He doesn't strike me as a strong character, and big money moves add too much pressure on players, some players can handle it, others crumble.

What makes you say that? He in no way gives off an impression that he is not level headed.. Never seen him do anything crazy.

there was a good article about him the other day, saying liverpool poached him from QPR to make him the highest paid 16 y.o. ever, then subsequently made him the highest paid 18 y.o. ever and now are outraged he's vying to make him the highest paid U21 player ever. Pattern of behaviour, lad has a plan and is sticking to it. Fair play to him, I would kill for that money. He knows he has a shelf life and is just getting himself the best possible deal.

I think he'd be a great Arsenal signing, but like most people are saying; i think he's a stick on for City.

He doesn't want the money.... Jeez!!! He obviously wants to leave. If the figures talked about are true it's not really a figure you really turn down. The kid wants to move.

I'm sorry but feckin hell we should be doing anything we can to get him if that's the case. Great talent and homegrown, one of the most exciting young wingers in the world. Him over Depay any day.

He's easily two levels above Depay and I agree.. We should be sniffing all over this.
