I haven't said whether he will go or not. Clearly he wants to, however the club have said he is going nowhere.
Whether that is just talk I don't know, as it stands it seems likely you are right - but I can't see us selling to United and clearly from the Suarez situation we are reluctant to sell to any English club.

If he came here I would be absolutely stunned. I agree with you on that. It feel to me that things have gone a little too far him to sign a new fat contract. I don't think he will go abroad. He will be offered lower wages and a new culture and language could harm his development. I think he will move in England.

If Figo could move from Barca to Madrid, anything is possible.

In Spain you can simply deposit the transfer fee and take the player without ever dealing with the owner club. Not sure if you can do that in England.

We refused to let them have our second choice LB/CB ffs.

There's no way they are selling us one of the best youngsters in Europe.

I'd be happy for us to sign him but handing Liverpool £50 million doesn't rest well with me.

If we're going to pay that, then I want it to happen right at the end of the window when all their transfer targets have moved onto other clubs, lets see them panic buy their way out of trouble then!

I'd be very surprised if we do actually sign him but I don't think we'd not be interested in the player - yes p1ssing Liverpool off is great but from a football point of view we are talking about a 20 year old player who is going to get better and better and potentially world class. If he joins City, Chelsea or Arsenal he only makes them even stronger so scouse rivalry aside we simply should be interested in him if we have plans to win trophies. Yes Bale seems to be the muppet dream this summer but we shouldn't be putting all our stock in that idea. Our left side seems sorted with Depay and Young but on the right we have Mata who is so much better centrally. Di Maria not sure if he will even be here and Januzaj needs a loan move so there is definitely room for him in our current set up. If not here though I hope he goes abroad or stays at Liverpool.

There has been unrest lately amongst many supporters on the high ticket prices, cue the Hull protest. Many people can't afford to go anymore, not just at Liverpool. Especially if you have kids who also want to.

Liverpool offered him a lucrative deal that most people can only dream of. Maybe it's not about money but loyal fans understandably can show their unrest when these things happen.

I just hope it doesn't drag on all summer, the meeting tomorrow will hopefully clarify things.

He can't have been a very good childhood United fan if he spends his career playing for both Liverpool and City.

Pool picked him at the right time, can't blame him for that. The next move would be interesting, would absolutely love it if we're genuinely interested and he kicks shit up demanding a move to us.

I might be in the minority here, but I don't think he is worth the 40m-50m bandied around. Do not want him here as I see Januzaj develop into a similar level, if not a better, player.

I think Liverpool should do the deal if Arsenal offer 25m-30m + Walcott.

Why? They're going to waste that on players who won't improve them anyway.

It's not going to happen guys. Don't waste all that nervous tension over this one... There'll be another Muppet Saga for us to enjoy soon enough ;)
More amusing than anything else. If you lived through the thiago thread then thats tension for you. This is just fun.

I agree with most of your post but Sterling is more of a left winger than a right winger. For that reason Bale would be the better option as he can play on the left, cut inside etc.

Would you? Bale over Sterling for me any day of the week.

I would :) imo Sterling has got more to his game than Bale.

You consider Sterling the better player or is it just because it'd be hilarious?

Not better, but as I said above I think he's got more to his game. Also, it would be hilarious. Not that it would ever happen.

I thought he was more right sided but can play all front 3 positions comfortably. I would rather not get Bale as I want Depay to start on the left otherwise a waste of time buying him to be fair as Depay wouldn't get a sniff if Bale is flying.

Yeah I’m with Sarni on this one. That’s why I wanted Liverpool out of top 4 (instead of City), now they won’t be able to bring quality players even if they get loads of cash.

IMO Sterling is definitely better fit for van Gaal. Bale will face the same problems as Di Maria (although he’s a better winger). Sterling is the man I want, can play comfortably in any attacking position and his strengths are close control and agility instead of power and pace, which won’t be as important if we continue playing like we do.

Don't want him here, he's not even that good. Quick maybe but he runs like a flid and can't shoot.

What the feck is going on... his agent has had a few things to say:

Football's most controversial transfer saga exploded into acrimony today as England star Raheem Sterling’s agent launched an extraordinary attack on Liverpool and the club’s former players.

The Premier League striker’s representative, Aidy Ward, said Londoner Sterling would refuse to sign a new deal even if he was offered nearly £1 million a week and may well return to the capital to play for Chelsea.

20-year-old Sterling, one of English football’s brightest young prospects, has already turned down a £100,000-a-week deal and is set to have a crunch meeting with manager Brendan Rodgers and Liverpool chief executive Ian Ayre tomorrow.

The protracted and bitter negotiations have reignited the debate about the effect of big money deals on young football players and former Liverpool stars and pundits have queued up to attack Sterling and his advisers.

But hitting back today, Ward told the Standard he “didn’t care” about the club or its image, dismissed criticism by former players as “irrelevant” and branded Liverpool legend and Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher “a knob”.

He said: “I don’t care about the PR of the club and the club situation. I don’t care.

“He is definitely not signing. He’s not signing for £700, £800, £900 thousand a week. He is not signing.

“My job is to make sure I do the best with them (my clients). If people say I am bad at my job, or they are badly advised it does not matter.”

Sterling’s relationship with the Liverpool has deteriorated since giving an unauthorised interview to the BBC in which he insisted he was not a “money-grabber”.

Many have blamed his agent Aidy Ward for allegedly giving him “terrible advice” over the handling of contract negotiations and for orchestrating the interview as leverage.

Sterling, who was booed as he collected the club’s Young Player of the Year award this week, is rapidly falling out of favour with Liverpool fans, with one apparently kicking his car as he drove away from Liverpool’s training ground yesterday.

But in an extraordinary attack on one of the club’s most respected former players, Ward said: “Carragher is a knob. Everybody knows it. Any of the criticism from current pundits or ex-Liverpool players - none of them things matter to me. It is not relevant.”

He said their criticism would be the same if Sterling stayed and then left in two years’ time when his contract expires, the only difference being the club would receive less money in transfer fees.

And he also appeared to blame the club for making news about the discussions public, saying: “How did this all occur? There is no smoke without fire.”

Ward said Sterling would not move to Real Madrid, Barcelona or Bayern Munich, and suggested Chelsea or Manchester City were the most likely destinations.

He added: “I am not worried. Worried is making a decision not knowing what is going to happen. Every premier league club will make a bid for him.”

Unique. And special. And specially unique.

He's only saying what we all thought over the past 15 or so years...Carragher is a fucking nobhead...
