Can you realistically see anyone in the rung above the likes of Ings and Rodriguez going to Liverpool this summer? They couldn't get Sanchez after their best season in a decade. Furthermore they lost out to a team known for finishing fourth.

They're on track for a long run of finishing outside the top 4 and there's no obvious way they can change that.

Lacazette is the only one really due to few top clubs being after a new striker. I'm not convinced moving to Liverpool would be a step up for his career though. No champions league and it makes it harder to move to a top club in the future.

Think the best thing they can do is splash on someone like Dybala or Vietto. They tried it with Markovic but he wasn't proven enough at all, despite being talented.

he's so overrated its untrue, he has pace to burn and he's a decent dribbler but he has absolutely no end product. His shooting and crossing is abysmal.

He will stay in England and probably end up at City or arsenal tbh I won't be too fussed either.he isn't a game changing player.
He's just 20 years old, the end product will come. He's a brilliant dribbler and fast as hell, along with being homegrown. He's very clearly got huge potential, is a good player already and under the right tutelage can be world class, definitely. Would be great to have him on our right wing and Depay on the left for the next 10 years basically, with Januzaj as the 10.

Regardless of his dip in form I think he's a huge talent and I hope we'll be in for him. Getting one of the most promising English players while pissing Liverpool off? Win-win.

I just can't see why, they'll make you pay a ridiculous amount for him if you do get him, then you'll have to pay him stupid wages to get him to come to there.

Yes he's looked good at times but he's miles off been a top class player imo.

Because he's English and precisely the kind of player we lack. And we're not exactly going to break our budget just for him, we'll pay a reasonable price and reasonable wages (well, as reasonable as you can get at clubs like City).

It won't be stupid wages. He isn't leaving for money. If Suarez was still there and they were top 4 then he would have signed the 100k a week contract for sure.

There's no chance they'll sell to us. Unless he's on a free that is. And I can't see him pushing a move to United. Basically, no.

I think he is a good player but 40-50 million for him would be madness IMO, only City because of their desperation for English players would stump up that much money
Apparently they're going to offer Milner a £145k renewal contract, I wouldn't be surprised if Sterling gets offered £150k+ at City.

You're not supposed to do this now, Raheem. You wait til about September to kick up a fuss, just like Wayne did.

Interesting thing is if city go for him and give us better run at Bale

City probably wouldn't be in the race for Bale anyway. Would cost too much. We could compete for him but he would take too significant a chunk out of our budget for any pursuit to be worthwhile.

I think there is quite a bit of unfair criticism with Sterling. Yes he hasn't had the best of seasons, but that is largely due to being played here, there and everywhere. He has had no consistent partner when played up front either.

Last season, with quality around him, with the likes of Suarez and Sturridge he played some excellent football, so putting him in a team with good players around him again would probably bring back that form

Genuinely busted out a huge laugh when I clicked the spoiler tab:lol:

I'm actually not bothered whether we go for him or not, we just signed Memphis, we don't need Raheem.

Though it would be great to see the reactions if he did come to us, would be worth the £40M.

I actually fully agree with Carragher. A 20 year old and his agent leaking shite to the press and trying to call the shots after the season he's had is a disgrace. Who does the little prick think he is?

Arsenal is clearly the best football move for him, if he has the choice.

Well players have far too much power these days, he has 2 full years on his contract. The clubs he is now desperate to go to would never have given him a game at 17

You're dreamimg, it has been said he wants to go back to London, so if he decides to move 50 miles down the road to you guys it'll not look good for Liverpool, the least they'll want is a top fee, like you say he is English so that adds a bit, he is also as you say a player you need, and he still has 2 years on his contract so they don't need to sell.

It'll be £50 million, £170 k + per week if you mange to do a deal, at best.

Back in March.
Raheem Sterling would cost a buying club as much as £100 million if Liverpool were to sell the forward, Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini believes.

Sterling is yet to sign a new contract at Anfield despite an offer being on the table for months, and any improved deal would include a big buyout clause for the 20-year-old England international.

Pellegrini is acutely aware of the value of homegrown players, with City falling foul of UEFA's financial fair play regulations and also hoping to stop midfielder James Milner leaving the Etihad Stadium at the end of the season for free when his contract expires.

Losing Milner would deprive City, who have been criticised for their lack of an English core, of another home-based player. But Pellegrini does not think there is good value to be found in the English player market.

He said: "It is important to have English players but can you sign them? You are talking about trying to sign players from clubs that won't sell them.

"Can you get Sterling? Maybe if you go to Liverpool with £100 million you can."
City will undoubtedly look to the transfer market again in the summer but retaining the services of Milner is also high among Pellegrini's priorities.

The 29-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season. City have offered a new deal and PA Sport reports that terms are satisfactory to the player, but Milner wants to be sure of regular game time.

"It would be very difficult to find a more complete player than Milner," Pellegrini said.

"There are players who are better technically. There are quicker players. There are players who head the ball better. But show me a player who does all the things that Milner does well and there isn't one. And whatever position I put him in he plays well.

"It's very difficult to find another Milner -- an intelligent player, with big balls and a massive heart."
I wonder how much he'd value Sterling at now.

Dont really rate him that highly, he may go on to be very world player some day but hes no way near the level of a young Ronaldo or Rooney, still very unproven.

If Liverpool can manage to get 50m for him, which i think is pretty ridiculous, anyway, but that's the figure that has been touted about. For a player that does not want to stay they should grab it with both hands
