Raheem Sterling is expected to tell Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers that he wants to leave Anfield this summer.

The England forward has already turned down a new £100,000-a-week contract, and denied being a "money-grabber" in a BBC Sport interview last month.

Sterling is due to meet Rodgers and Reds chief executive Ian Ayre on Friday, when he is set to tell them he wants to be sold.

The club are determined to keep the 21-year-old, whose contract ends in 2017.

Should he be made available, Manchester City remain the frontrunners for his signature but Arsenal and a number of leading European clubs have also expressed an interest.

Based on his performances this season Liverpool would rather get rid than pay his ridiculous wage demands.

Another case of a young player thinking he's better than he is.

This is a real mess for Liverpool, ideally you don't want to keep a player like him who wants to leave so desperately but the problem is that the money even though it will be big is irrelevant for Liverpool because of their inability to attract top players

Must say though that he has been terrible since the whole saga started and if he played for us I would have wanted him gone

Oh boy bad bad news for Liverpool!

How great these last 12 months have been, Liverpool from looking like league champions to a club in terminal decline :lol::lol:

Hope we at least try for him, even if it is just to feck with them

Been a great week so far........ Regardless of how dogshit he's been recently still one of our only few potential top class players ... Sigh when you don't spend big money players see this and it does have an effect.... :(

I wish Barney was still around to watch his meltdown.

Liverpool are truly fecked. Not long until Coutinho question what the feck he is doing there and he will leave too. Meanwhile the likes of Milner and Ings will be brought in by Brendan.

Good times:cool:

He's not even that good, so it says a lot about Liverpool's current status. Their pull is no greater than a club like Tottenham's.

Excellent. What Liverpool could have become if Suarez,Sterling and Sturridge were together for the next few years.

Now only Sturridge will be left and he is made of glass on £150k a week.

Suarez went last year and Gerrard & Sterling this year it is really abandon ship for lfc.

The problem for them is that they have too many average players so not sure how they are going to get out of this mess!!!

Bit harsh - he was their best player up until xmas. Gone a bit quiet in the final few months of the season, but for a 21 year-old he ain't doing bad. Pretty sure he'll be a top player at the right club.

If I were a Liverpool fan I don't think I'd be arsed but maybe that's just me a United fan knowing we'll be loosing a much better player in De Gea this summer :(

If it weren't for the rivalry between the two I'd say we'd be the perfect team (along with Arsenal) for Raheem. Sadly I don't see Pool ever selling him to us so it's between Arsenal, Chelsea or City sadly.

Is it true he's a Manchester United fan? The scenes if he pushes a transfer to our club.

To those saying he isn't that good would you the same about Di Maria? Sterling is good but importantly full of potential, I don't think anyone is claiming he's world class apart from his agent so he can get the best deal on the market.

Shame because they would never sell to us but at the same time hilarious. He will be a loss for them as it ain't easy to buy a top replacement even if you have money especially as we nabbed Depay.

Edit - on football grounds shame a young player who was given a stage by a club doesn't repay it. That's life I guess.

Suspect quite a few Sterling shirts will be on fire tonight.
