Though I have to laugh at these 'rebels' against Cowell. Do people not realise that the record company of Rage are connected with Cowell's so he's probably still made a fortune from Rage being at number 1 and all this Rage v Joe hype

Don't know how anyone can feel sorry for Joe. He's still sold 500,000 odd records. He's financially sorted, and all down to doing a terrible cover of an already atrocious song. Lets all weep for the little shit. I've never seen him live, but he comes across as a complete cnut in all the written interviews i've seen!

I bet he's personally made feck all. He didn't write the song and the contracts these Xfactor people get to begin with are horrendous. They just sign them because they want to be famous.

That 'million pound contract' will be in the form of potential advances dependent on clauses being triggered, and will go towards various costs which will then be recouped from the artist's royalties. As he won't get any publishing royalties (he's not going to get in on the song writing) he will be lucky to make much at all before he's dropped in 6 months time.
Take the power back would have been a better song choice in hindsight

If the song wasn't about X-Factor Joe McElderry and wasn't really about RATM( As The band pointed out) then why not donate all the proceeds they have gained to charity? If they are truly against Capitalism etc then it should be no problem. Don't get me wrong I'm delighted Joe didn't win but I still think they should give away the money.

You're missing the point though. Why go on about how it's not about them blah blah and then pocket some of the money from this campaign. The fact that they have already came out and said this then personally I think they shouldn't get anything if they really have principles. If they have donated all the money then I take back everything I say.

Rage Against the Machine have been one of my favourite bands for a long time now, I'm really happy they've got the Number One because I am SO SICK of the X Factor constantly getting the Xmas #1 and taking all the fun out of the competition for the top spot. It's like Simon Cowell thought he had ownership over that position, like he has ownership over most of the TV shows these days.
