Rage Against The Machine For Christmas No.1

Rage Against the Machine have been one of my favourite bands for a long time now, I'm really happy they've got the Number One because I am SO SICK of the X Factor constantly getting the Xmas #1 and taking all the fun out of the competition for the top spot. It's like Simon Cowell thought he had ownership over that position, like he has ownership over most of the TV shows these days.

Well, in your face Simon! We won't stand for it. Power to the people! :D

Do you want to go to the celebration concert together, MrsGiggs?

That forum is wonderful. Christ, can no one spell or punctuate? Can they also not see that Joe Teeth is a mere pawn in Cowell's empire? They all seem to think that Rage Against The Machine are some unheard of band who viciously organised this campaign to ruin their beloved's life.
I would despair but it's just too funny.

Joe has done an amazing job no matter what and was extremely courteous to RATM throughout. I hate that he didn’t get to number 1, but I’m still going to buy everything that Joe releases.
Says it all really. That's why this campaign was done.

What about next Christmas though?

a) Let X-Factor have the number 1 because it won't be the same toppling it for the second time

b) Pick a new song to be number 1 (like this year)

c) Pick an old Christmas number 1 to be number 1

d) Get Joe's song "The Climb" to number 1 (this would be ironically ridiculous )

Choice d sounds fantastic (I mean the second choice c).

What about

e) Get RATM to #1 again, possibly even with the same song.

F) get olly, who finished 2nd in the X Factor, to number 1.

Can't wait for the gig. Was supposed to see them at Reading years ago, but after initialy being down for doing it, they pulled out due for some reason..

Next christmas, I'm sure Sony will cook up another campaign that makes them double the money and gives them income from the 1st and 2nd chart spots. Just like this year.

Don't know how anyone can feel sorry for Joe. He's still sold 500,000 odd records. He's financially sorted, and all down to doing a terrible cover of an already atrocious song. Lets all weep for the little shit. I've never seen him live, but he comes across as a complete cnut in all the written interviews i've seen!

Doubt that me lad. McElderry will see VERY little of what The Climb makes. The real winners are the writers behind the climb. As I doubt Miley Cyrus can write her own name let alone a song I doubt she's the one making much money off of it. It was just handy to have a song that is linked to such a strong (sadly) brand name.

In saying that it's a good launching pad for Joe and he's going to get sympathy sales from all his hardcore  fans

I bet he's personally made feck all. He didn't write the song and the contracts these Xfactor people get to begin with are horrendous. They just sign them because they want to be famous.

Spot on. You know.....when you put it so simply it really brings home how sick the feckers are behind the X-Factor. I realise that the heads that go on it for fame and glory are idiots, but a part of me feels they're misguided and should not be subject to the bullying that goes on, on that show

150k ain't bad at all also I read he might be getting big contracts from Disney Joe will be fine. Joe is on radio 1 now he seems to be taking ok.

Joe will definitely be ok. He has most certainly not lost out here, and this is why the campaign was so good. It was never intended to ruin someone. Disney would be perfect for him. He can go and join the likes of Miley Cyrus in fairy land. Leave him to it

Bloody hell that fan forum is hilarious, do they really think RATM are some random nobodies?! And Louis Walsh claiming they couldn't fill Wembley but this kid from X Factor could do is either woefully ignorant, extremely naive or deliberately disingenuous. I can't decide which as they'd all fit with the plonker who told us Jedward will be huge!

All these X Factor contestants will be forgotten about in 6 months, the only ones to buck that trend are Leona and Alexandra, both of which have something that makes them a lot more marketable than Joe.

Why’s everyone talking about a new campaign now anyway? If you’re so fed up with the state of the charts and mainstream music then do what happened yesterday every week. Actually buy music you like, don’t download it for free. Go see local unsigned bands, go to gigs, listen to stuff on spotify and last fm that you’ve never heard before. Sack needing a campaign, that is as bad as watching x-factor and being told what to like.
And you can be guaranteed there’ll be even more campaigns next year, and they wont be run by fans, it’ll be the record labels behind it this time.

That forum made me want to kill myself.

That forum is hilarious. It's a great way of seeing the general mindset of the average "Joe" fan. They have no idea who RATM are, and are merely bitter about the whole ordeal

RATM will be forgotten ? :wenger:

Yeah and I suppose that's why they managed to rise from the ashes this year after a long time in the shadows ? Because they're capable of being forgotten. Spastics

Rage Against The Machine beat Joe McElderry in race for Christmas number one | The Sun |Showbiz|Bizarre

Best part from Louis Walsh "Joe will go on to sell a lot more albums then the Rage ever have done. He's going to have a huge career. Missing out on the No1 this week will not make a difference to this life.

Rage Against The Machine couldn't fill Wembley now. I think Joe will"

He's such a clown. And did he actually call them "the rage" ? Rage would easily fill Wembley, and I'll tell you this much, it would be filled to the brim with hardcore gig goers who are up for a great night, not a bunch of cotton-pickin ninny mugginses who light their cigarette lighters for 99% of the show's songs.

I'm all about a ballad don't get me wrong. I mean Foreigner ?? But when it's every song it's a bit silly really. It's manipulative and plays on the naive heart strings of 16 year old girls (and gay men)

I think it would be brilliant if song writers throughout the U.k and Ireland spent a few months coming up with some pretty cool Christmas numbers. We'd have a shit load of new Christmas tunes so we wouldn't have to rely on the old ones (which lets face it, we have been doing) and maybe because of this campaign people will be more into the idea of original. It's where music should be. It's what's magic about the whole thing in my opinion

I am delighted about the prospect of seeing them. I've never seen them live and it was one of my main regrets for a gig going perspective. I never expected this to happen and so this time I am going to make sure I am there with feckin bells on !
