Rage Against The Machine For Christmas No.1

Yep

Also from wiki:
Rolling Stone lists "Killing in the Name" as the 24th in its 100 Greatest Guitar Songs of All Time.

Now Im not saying that Rolling Stone is any type of expert opinion but it really is an all time classic anthem - so those complaining that RATM are not worthy, not only completely miss the point, but are dead wrong anyway!

The Rolling Stones magazine had the Jonas Brothers on the cover a few months ago I think that says it all!

However yea you're right about it being a classic anthem.

so I just bought my copy for 29p from Amazon

wont count towards the chart, im pretty sure the price has to be above 40p for the track to be counted, its to stop labels fixing prices at like 2p or something crazy to get millions of downloads

Aparently it does because Amazon pay the difference - I suppose they just want to attract people to the buy from them.

Anyway I know this campaign is probably going to fail because lots of the XFactor shit will be sold in physical CD today as people go out to buy xmas presents - but the whole thing has still amused me anyhow!

It would be if i was a member of rage. Lots of fun

the members of rage have already promised their earnings from it are going towards a UK charity

and tom morello has put this on his twitter

NEWS FLASH: RAGE ANNOUNCE THEY WILL PLAY MASSIVE FREE VICTORY GIG IN UK IF "KILLING IN THE NAME" IS NUMBER ONE XMAS SINGLE!!! Let's go!!!!
Tom Morello (tmorello) on Twitter

and joe from x-factor isnt doing himself any help with this interview

I don't know how true this is but I've been told that for any more sales of RATM to rank for xmas No.1 it needs to be downloaded before 3pm today.

Needless to say I've gone and bought my copy.

I just dont get it all. Someone break it down for me without the point being stopping X factor winning it becuase it sells the most every christmas. I don't know, i dont care who wins number 1 anytime of the year.

Fair does to the guys at Rage. They are loving it, i would be too! Just hope its not Coldplay next year!

Don't know if this has been posted, but here's a way to download it for free and still make it count: Rage Against The Machine Chart Vote for free with no Credit Card 100% Confirmed! - HotUKDeals Forum

Basically you can download Nokia's music player for free, and then use 4 promotional codes to buy RATM for free - afterwards I just uninstalled the music player.

Hot UK Deals said:
To begin with, please don't make multiple accounts with this, there's no reason why all 850,000 can't create one account and the charts company cant hassle us about bulk buying!

If you don't have a Credit Card and want to support Rage for free, there's still a way and I have confirmed with the Charts Company that its eligible!*

1) Go to Nokia Music Download and install the player on the main page insuring you select UK when it gives you the setup options!

2) Open the program and click "Join Now", Click "Join Nokia Music", fill out the details to create the account (No credit card details are needed)

4) Go to the main Store page and to the left you will see a box that says "Redeem Pin" Click on "Continue"

5) Enter ONE random of these codes, doesn't matter which one! Each one will give you £4 free credit and that's all you need to buy all 5 versions of the song, you can get up to £16 worth if you use all the codes, but please don't as Nokia may pull it if its abused!

6) Search for: Rage Against The Machine - Killing in the name of

7) Click the Orange down arrow next to each of the songs, then click the blue tick.

Congratulations you have just contributed [=

Thanks to the others who found this method! Now lets spread the word!

*I rang The Official UK Charts Company to see if tracks bought from Nokia Ovi Player are still eligible for the UK top 40 singles chart. They confirmed that they are as long as its bought with a UK account!

Joe added: "I will be really disappointed if it doesn't go to No1 after all the effort I've put in to this and winning the show."

That guy is a fecking cnut!!

Absolutely, or do both - not trying to stop people donating money to charity, just adding another way to keep RATM ahead of the XFactor crap

Indeed.

I just looked on Amazon's mp3 download page and you have to scroll down 2 pages to even see RATM mentioned. The xfactor kid stupid face is all over the page. CONSPIRACY!

Totally. feck i really hope this happens now after reading that interview.

I'm now trying the Nokia method, I have it installed for my phone anyway. Already purchased off of iTunes.

I can't stand that little feckers face.

He will come out as gay soon. Its fecking guaranteed.

I hope the X Factor gets top spot, it'll be worth it seeing all you spastics go mental. I can't even remember the last decent Xmas No. 1 anyway, and I don't really give a feck about the charts in any case.

While I admire the display of people power apparent from this episode of forcing RATM it's way to UK No.1/2 I must also reiterate Elvis' comment of you all being spastics.

They're both managed/owned/lolled by SONY BMG. Whoever gets to number 1 it's all more money in Simon Cowell's bosses pocket and thus Simon Cowell's pocket too.

I mean, seriously, if you were going to launch a fecking attempt at getting a single to number 1, atleast pick a band who were on a different fecking label. That's surely basic principle number 1 of attempting to hijack the charts vs one song/man/label.

Let me just reiterate the point; No one gives a feck about Simon Cowell.

The campaign isn't aimed at Simon Cowell, nor is it about him.

Why are you all so bothered if Joe gets to #1 anyway? Is it going to affect your life? Will you wake up, see the news, and cry into your bowl of sugar puffs, that yet another shit song has managed to reach #1 spot in the charts, despite this being pretty much the case for the past god knows how many years?

Yeah, you're all spastics. Except Biscuit, he's OK.

This it completely about Cowell and his monopoly on the Xmas No.1

You bought RATM didn't you?

Only to find out it's made Cowell some money.

Hehehehahe.

How has it made Cowell money? Rage are signed to Sony, not Cowell's label. It's like saying buying a PS3 will "make Cowell money".

Sony are the parent company so to speak. Even Cowell has his bosses.

I know, but how will buying RATM's single make Cowell money?

In the broadest sense possible of course, the richer the bosses get etc. Plus, it's making him a whole load of publicity - for free - either way Sony are making money, the Sony fat-cats will be pleased with Cowell for causing this. Which he did, anyway you look at it.

No its not. I couldn't give a feck if Simon Cowell is made the richest man on the earth, as long as Xfactor isn't ensured a monopoly on the Christmas number 1.

I have bought Killing in the name of, several times, in the knowledge that Cowell would make a tiny amount from my purchase. Its an irrelevance.

Yes but when you say the Xfactor isn't ensured a monopoly on the christmas number 1, you may aswell say Cowell.

Cowell is the Xfactor. So whether you are personally against the show or the man is an irrelevance to be fair. When they are one and the same.

I think the song is labelled to Syco, which is a subsidiary of Sony BMG, which Cowell has a pretty large share in

the RATM is on the Epic label, which is a subsidiary of Sony, while cowell owns another subsidiary of sony called syco

Epic is part of Sony BMG, as is Syco. They both answer to the same bosses eventually.

I can just imagine Cowell sat at home, logged into Facebook starting up that group!

True, perhaps a better investment would have been the 'Lets hire a Hitman to take out Cowell' facebook group. Cheaper too I would imagine.

The Sony argument is completely void of rationale. Every record label sucks up to some parent company whether it be Sony, EMI, Warner etc. There are really no truly independent labels capable of having music heard by anyone other than a small number of people and so having no chance of challenging something as truly horrifying as the Xfactor.

I think that RATM track was a good choice. I shouldn't have to spell out why.
