I think the song is labelled to Syco, which is a subsidiary of Sony BMG, which Cowell has a pretty large share in
It's not. RATM's label (Epic) are a subsiduary of Sony as is Cowell's (Syco).

The Sony argument is completely void of rationale. Every record label sucks up to some parent company whether it be Sony, EMI, Warner etc. There are really no truly independent labels capable of having music heard by anyone other than a small number of people and so having no chance of challenging something as truly horrifying as the Xfactor.
I think that RATM track was a good choice. I shouldn't have to spell out why.
Yes but when you say the Xfactor isn't ensured a monopoly on the christmas number 1, you may aswell say Cowell.
Cowell is the Xfactor. So whether you are personally against the show or the man is an irrelevance to be fair. When they are one and the same.
Who actually gives a shit where the money goes.
Well besides that all being complete nonsense, you are spot on. Well done.
This is the point - no one really does. At the end of the day some money grabbing big cat will get it, from which ever record label you buy from.
A good choice but in reality they still have the monopoly on the Christmas number 1 because they own the music industry in essence. It's just that angst riddled teenagers and facebookers picked an out-spoken band who swear. A band that happen to be linked Cowell via the umbrella of Sony BMG. Not the whole of Sony music, a much smaller part in Sony BMG. So they are closer than it would appear. Here's a fact for you, JLS are signed to Epic.
JLS as in Cowell's runners up last year. Amazing eh? You all need to wake up and smell the coffee.
BECAUSE THE COFFEE SMELLS LIKE SHIT.This is fun.
Im not even going to bother replying. Late entry for wum of the year.
Yeah I know its all a big horrid circle of wonga and in all honestly a difference it not will make. I think I'm backing this campaign for two reasons, one just because it would be pretty funny to see some clown who actually thinks that singing karaoke on tv and being judged by celebrities = success, bascially fail. But more importantly because I'm still annoyed that my girlfriend spazzed out and went upstairs halfway through the final because I was talking over parts of it deploring the state of music and calling for the return of mass drug taking and very loud guitars.
I had to go home the next day so she could watch the rest on Sky+ without being disturbed. Says it all really.
Honestly, I'm not. I admire the showing of people power that this whole scheme has caused, but it's still inherently funding the people who monopolise music anyway, specifically in this case, Cowell/The XFactor christmas number 1 onwership.
I like youI agree with pretty much everything you say, I just think, considering what this project is trying to do RATM we're the wrong choice, infact any artist associated with Sony would be wrong. I personally like the song, but something else should have been picked.
The FB group is saying were behind by about 10,000 come on people buy some more! Do the above method at the least, it does work
Joe will win now he's in the lead, unfortunately the number of spastics outweighs the rest.
X Factor winner Joe McElderry has branded Rage Against The Machine's 'Killing In The Name' "dreadful" after finally hearing his chart nemesis.
The star, who is currently 11,000 sales ahead of the Los Angeles band with 'The Climb', said he hated the track.
"They can't be serious!" he said. "I had no idea what it sounded like. It's dreadful and I hate it. How could anyone enjoy this? Can you imagine the grandmas hearing this over Christmas lunch?
"I wouldn't buy it. It's a nought out of ten from me. Simon Cowell wouldn't like it. They wouldn't get through to boot camp on The X Factor - they're just shouting."
Simon Cowell has already branded the Facebook campaign to get Rage Against The Machine to the UK singles Christmas Number One slot ahead of Joe McElderry "very Scrooge".
The X Factor mogul claimed that despite the campaign to get 'Killing In The Name' to the top spot the reality TV show winner would still be victorious.
Now, McElderry has defended Cowell and said his own track deserves to be Christmas Number One.
He told The Sun:"I think people are jumping on this to have a go at Simon and The X Factor rather than me. But Simon gives people a shot."
"I will be really disappointed if it doesn't go to No1 after all the effort I've put in to this and winning the show."

"RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE have just announced that if their single "KILLING IN THE NAME" is number one on the Christmas Week UK pop charts over the single from X-Factor winner they WILL PLAY A HUGE FREE CONCERT IN THE UK TO CELEBRATE THE VICTORY OF THIS HISTORIC PEOPLE'S CAMPAIGN!!!! If the unprecedented grassroots movement to topple the X-Factor monopoly is successful in making Rage number one the group will return to UK shores sometime in 2010 for a massive "thankyou" gig. And get this...Rage have vowed to invite 2nd Place finisher, X-Factor empressario Simon Cowell, to MC the show! Said Rage guitarist Tom Morello late friday night: "Attention Freedom Fighters! RAGE VS. X-FACTOR WILL BE DECIDED BY SATURDAY'S SALES. Spread the word! Knock on doors! Host downloading parties! Knock over ladies buying X-Factor! The clock is ticking. And if "Killing in the Name" is number one WE ARE COMING. And it will be the victory party to end all victory parties." TM

Uncensored performance and interview from 5Live - Rock Pit - Rage Against the Machine
I hate all this.
I love RATM – one of the best bands ever imo. I feel there good name is being dragged into this stupid circus. What disappoints me more, is that there now getting behind it - i thought that they wouldn’t want to associate themselves with this kind of shit.
Though i do understand that they didn’t start it and i suppose if the ball is rolling, you may as well get behind it. Its great that some of the money goes to charity.
That fact that most people will only ever associate Rage with the X factor is pretty sad.
I saw Rage for the first time at Reading last year – they were unbelievable. If one good thing comes out of this, its that they will tour England again soon.
Of course theyd get behind, this is afterall part of what they stand for - sticking it to the man and proving a point.
And theyve already said if they get #1 they will do a mahoosive gig for free over here
Great, but for most people in the UK, RATM will only ever be known as the anti X Factor group. In the eyes of most people, they will be remembered almost as a novelty - like Mr Blobby or Bob the Builder.
