Well at least it's a Xbox...so there's not much chance of burning it out playing games for hours on end.

Why play games if you can be a condescending prick on the internet innit

Actually true because not every Xbox game is a 50 hour movie simulator.

@Damien whats the thing PS5 can do that Xbox can't? (Ps5 thread title)

Except for playing games and haptics etc.

To quote Jimmy Carr: the title "literally just told you"

Says everything you need to know there. Don't know how I can elaborate on it.

But I can stream games I own on Xbox, as long as they're supported, which is the same as what PS is doing. ?

Aren't they just games that are on xCloud/Game Pass?

We're excited to share that later this year [this was in 2022], it's our intent to roll out the ability for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members to play, from the cloud, select games they already own or have purchased outside the Xbox Game Pass library

You don't own those.

The main thing is that nobody streams console games. As Xbox has said they have never had more than 5000 gamers playing on stream in the UK at one time. The share of the market that stream console games is miniscule.

He asked for stuff the PS5 can do the Xbox can’t. Just another W for Sony.

You can use remote play to stream the console to your phone and AFAIK everything works because it's just streaming the Xbox directly.

I've just tested it and it works on my phone. You don't need a GP sub to do this.

Edit - Not everything works. It's only Xbox S/X optimised games, not backwards compatible with 360 titles.

DOUBLE EDIT - Are we talking about playing games you own via the cloud? Yeah you can't do that unless they're on GP.

Is it even a competition at this stage though? Unless Starfield is incredibly special I see no way that the Series S/X can't be called an enormous failure compared to the PS5.

It doesn't matter how good Starfield or any other game that Xbox brings out they wont compete with PS on console sales because they launch day 1 on PC. They also will not compete on game sales because of GP. PS and Xbox are not working on the same metrics anymore.

It includes some games I own but isn't all games I own. And yes it's a gamepass ultimate perk.

Isn't PS5 the same though - only limited games that you own (not all) and it's only for PS Plus Premium members?

What's the difference? Except on GPU there's a much larger library available beyond that too.

You're vastly overestimating the PC market here, it in no way accounts for anything close to the sort of sales gaps between the two consoles. It's a blip compared to them.

Also goes against Microsoft's strategy which isn't for you to buy either a PC or an Xbox, but to want to buy/use both to make the most out of Gamepass.

it's not even just about the sales. The PS5 has it beat for exclusives, timed exclusives, features (Dualsense, 3d sound), just pretty much everything really. A superior UI too, and their own PS Premium has arguably gotten almost as good as Gamepass anyway.

I know you will never concede this but Sony still doesn't have an answer to the Series S which for me is the best way to play what Xbox offers right now. It's so cost-effective and the performance/quality is still good enough for 90% of people.

I completely understand why anybody who bought an X would feel otherwise as PS5 is the superior console when it comes to the top-end market. If you're willing to pay £450 ( ) then you'd be mad not to get a PS5 at this point in time.

I think Starfield will be incredibly special but on its own isn't going to make the difference.

And yet the Series S is selling feck all so why would Sony feel they need an answer to it?

I'm not saying it's not a wonderful little piece of value hardware but it's not exactly disrupting the market either. It's nowhere near the success Microsoft were probably expecting. Most people want the best possible experience, not the cheapest.

They don't and arguably never did because they already cornered the top-end market. People who wanted a Sony wanted the best console they could get and were willing to pay / fight tooth and tail to get one.

However, the fact people aren't buying the Series S matters naught to me. I liken it to that time the Gamecube went to something like £129 and still nobody bought it because everybody was content with their PS2 and Xbox.

The actual experience of the S is brilliant considering the quality of games compared to the entry cost. It just hits all the right notes and is still a couple of years from being anywhere near obsolete. Starfield will push it but 99% of games won't.

Err what are you on about? You said

What is there to concede? The Series S has underperformed in sales vs the X, let alone the PS5, so why would Sony need an answer and what exactly do I need to concede?

The only thing the S has proven is that when it comes to consoles most people want the more powerful one and are happy to pay to get it, regardless of whether it's the X or PS5. So your 90% claim is crazy.

The PC market isn't exactly small. In 2022 console gaming accounted for $51.8 billion and PC gaming $38.2 billion. If they can get a decent amount of PC owners to get a subscription it could definitely account for a good percentage of use on the platform. I don't think MS split numbers between PC / consoles though?

I agree with the rest though, PS does feel like a superior experience to me.
