The PC market isn't exactly small. In 2022 console gaming accounted for $51.8 billion and PC gaming $38.2 billion. If they can get a decent amount of PC owners to get a subscription it could definitely account for a good percentage of use on the platform. I don't think MS split numbers between PC / consoles though?

I agree with the rest though, PS does feel like a superior experience to me.
I should clarify; console gamers and PC gamers are generally different markets. I'm not saying PC is a small market, it's huge, but it's largely dominated by the big online games. The level of crossover for people who want both a PC and a console isn't very big.

You're vastly overestimating the PC market here, it in no way accounts for anything close to the sort of sales gaps between the two consoles. It's a blip compared to them.

Also goes against Microsoft's strategy which isn't for you to buy either a PC or an Xbox, but to want to buy/use both to make the most out of Gamepass.

it's not even just about the sales. The PS5 has it beat for exclusives, timed exclusives, features (Dualsense, 3d sound), just pretty much everything really. A superior UI too, and their own PS Premium has arguably gotten almost as good as Gamepass anyway.
Steam has 132 million monthly active users, hardly a blip if they can get people on there to buy their games. They are having a harder time getting PC gamers to change to GP that's their biggest push now, rather than selling more consoles.

Spiderman remastered, Spiderman MM, and Spiderman 2. Not for me, I just don't do old school Superheroes.

God of War, Horizon, and Ghost of Tsushima I'd play but they haven't got me running out and buying a console.

Most people buy consoles to play multiplats where their family and friends are.

Damien updated that thread title. Think we all know who the real winner is here.

Yes, that's fair. As a PC owner I have zero enticement to get an XBOX and if I do want to experience it I can get GP for a few months. I do get Sony consoles, but that's purely because of the quality of their platform and games (which I can't get on PC at least for a few years after release).

Dunno really. I'm not sure what my point was now

Just that they don't have an answer for you. Which is valid.

Talking about an answer for the market or who is going to win console sales etc is pointless and has been for a decade.

Iron all over my face.

Only as I felt it best to avoid having thread titles for the individual threads igniting console wars.

Sure

No war here. I just asked what the difference is.

I stand by the experience being offered is the same.

Is it even a competition at this stage though? Unless Starfield is incredibly special I see no way that the Series S/X can't be called an enormous failure compared to the PS5.
I dont rate the ps5 enough to call anything an enormous failure in comparison. They're both pretty crap to date.

Not bad. I look forward to those sales translating into new and innovative gaming experiences sometime soon.

So the question is how much did Sony pay Gamespot and IGN?

You are slipping in your old age. Might be time to find your successor on here...slim pickings I know, there's not a lot of options there!

I think it must have been posted on here at some point, but it's easy to find.
I thought it would be @VeevaVee but he failed spectacularly

He has the lack of a detectable sense of humour thing down, but the faking of the knowledge is just not there. Plus he doesn't even pretend to own a PS5 and therefore should be considered unbiased.

Not locky enough, C-.

I'm not the one who pretends I'm a game developer mate
