Surprised the PS+ title hasn't been updated this week. You'd have thought a PSA would have been made for a big price hike like that. Damo slipping.

Edit: Forgot I pinched the PS+ OP from Weaste. Truth is I've just been trying to avoid the gaming side of the caf* since July when people were hostile. Coupled with the shite I've had dealt to me after the Greenwood stuff I'm just keeping out of things. Can't win whatever I do.

*apart from usual update in the Xbox thread

Yeah I don't envy you. Ignoring us twats in here for a while is an option, those complete ***** in certain other threads is a whole another ball game.

Ignore locky especially though. He is just a bit butt hurt that Starfield isn't "OMG GAME OF THE YEAR!". Not that he'd know, as he hasn't even played it.

Stay sane Damo. You do an excellent job keeping things in check.

Why do so many dickheads on consoles not understand how mics work?

Every lobby in a game is full of bellends with shit music in the background, or screaming kids, or they're screaming like they're trying to contact me from the next town over. Absolute dogshit. Should be able to report them as being useless with technology. Wankstains.

Also, every game seems to be full of french fellas who won't shut the feck up. Like they have to talk every single second.

Yep, agreed. Unless I'm on with mates now there's a complete muting of voice chat. It can be a game ruiner. I hate it when you can hear a child crying / screaming. 'Put your fecking controller down and go and be a parent ffs'.

I think Microsoft are now trying to be too much like Sony but without all the foundational stuff that makes Sony work. You can see it with their shift away from making Gamepass being about unrivalled variety - which they led with for years - to instead allowing lots of many barren months of nothing burger games so they could push a big IP like Starfield when it finally came around. The problem with this approach is that a) Starfield is shite, and b) Sony get away with this because they have a huge dedicated fanbase who'll sleep in their Sony duvet covers and buy shite like the Portal for £200 . They also make a lot of good exclusives and have that going for them. Microsoft's strategy is doubly weak when you factor in the Nintendo cult.*

*Proud member myself.

oh you spy on @esmufc07 too?

the portal is so weird, and yet so many people seem to love it. It's a fecking phone with a dualsense attached without the phone part. It can't even play media or hook up bluetooth. it's so silly. And yet somehow Sony pulled it off and people are loving the thing.

Basically designed for Dads.

I'll be honest.... I did not see things going this dismally for XBox.
Nor me … until I owned an Xbox.

Granted I’m a long time, self confessed PS fan but I genuinely bought the Xbox with an open mind specifically to play Starfield. I turned to the Xbox a bit sooner than planned after my PS5 went pop and had about 4 - 5 months before the release of Starfield where the Xbox was my primary machine.

I was kind of looking forward to trying some of the exclusives but honestly, Forza, GOW, Halo, all really disappointing. Everything good on gamepass I’d already played or owned on PS5. As Dusk Falls and Ori were the best games i played.

That being said, Sea of thieves had great potential and I enjoyed that but never did too much.

It’s ok. It works. Graphically it seems good. However, the look of the thing, the controller, especially the feel of them, the UI, the noises it makes, Gamepass, everything just feels of lesser quality than the PS5.

Having got my new PS5, booting it up, hitting PSVR2 and the new COD just felt like going home. The controller sits naturally in the hand, the whole thing just feels like a premium bit of kit in comparison.

The Xbox is now up in my daughters room assigned to teenage Roblox and Minecraft duties where it will stay until Hellblade 2 is released.

Having owned both machines I find it genuinely perplexing that anyone would choose the MS machine over Sonys.

Yeah it’s been a pretty dreadful 3 years for them? Starfield aside what have they done?

This is why you're the good V and @Vidyoyo is the bad one..... the snake!

Even with Starfield, it dropped from 1st to 14th in sales after it's first month. The other day Skyrim had more concurrent players on Steam.

Obviously there's a big caveat here that plenty of people will be playing on GamePass, but I can't see those figures as anything other than an indication that the game isn't currently showing the staying power that MS will no doubt have been hoping for.

I recently used a PS5 for the first time, having owned (and sold) a Series X previously.

I suspected two things beforehand…

1) The PS5 would be just as ugly in person as the pictures, and…
2) The PS5 controller would be vastly superior to the Series X controller.

Both of my suspicions were proved correct. It’s the ugliest console I’ve ever seen and it’s huge. I much prefer the design of the Series X. If I owned a PS5 it would be hidden behind the TV, that’s for sure. Regarding the controller, I’d give the PS5 controller a 9/10 and Xbox would get a generous 6/10.

Neither console has any games that would interest me at the moment though. GTA 6 could reel me back in though at some point.

Even leaving aside the gap in exclusives over the past decade, I still can’t believe Microsoft didn’t have a dual sense and adaptive trigger equivalent at launch. It seems they’ll introduce over the next year or two but it’s the most immersive feature of the next gen consoles and only one of them has it.

I can. They're very slow at adopting features - still 17 years on from gyro in PlayStation 3 controllers and Microsoft doesn't have it despite the Vita, 3DS, Wii, PS4, Wii U, Switch and PS5 all having it. They were slow on screenshot/sharing button functionality too and randomly delete screenshots and videos
