Halo Infinite plays great, and the campaign was fun, but it was essentially abandoned immediately at launch. Kind of embarrassing really for a flagship game.

A few big insiders have said today that Sony held back a few AAAs for after the Xbox event.
Why bother having the first showcase in two years before the Xbox showcase if you wanted to conceal your hand until after the Xbox showcase? It makes no sense. They knew when the Xbox showcase they could have just held back their show until after Xbox had committed to theirs.
My big problem with the showcase was how far they are going down the games with a service rabbit hole with the games they have shown. It's a mistake the whole industry has made now. It was my main problem with Redfall and countless other games that have just chased that trend.

I don't know what they are playing at tbh, there's obviously more but they're so complacent they seem to think they don't need to show it.

I don't think those live service games are that much of a problem, as they're all coming from studios that were acquired specifically for that reason. So nothing is lost. Whether they will actually be good is another matter.

There's some believable rumours that the Last of Us multiplayer wasn't announced because it'll be shown on the 10th year anniversary of the first game in June. We'll see, but that would make some sense for them.

Hmm... Let's see, I'm still waiting on those PSVR1 remasters (a tap in for Sony) and more news on first party projects...

They just released a statement basically indefinitely postponing it.

Looks like they've done a Redfall with it.

I've just seen, it's a shame but at least with Naughty Dog you know they'll either make a great game or never release it.

The fact that the only first party game that isn't live service at the show was Spiderman is what had me thinking that there is a need to worry. That and the fact that they have said that 60% of their budget is going on games as a service.

People banging on about local split screen missing when TLOU2 had no multiplayer at all, still has no multiplayer 2 years later, and looks like it probably won't ever get multiplayer. TLOU 1s pvp was class outside the pay to win microtransactions. Shite news, though not that unexpected. Clearly too ambitious with it.

TLOU is a single player game, which had a MP add-on. I'm guessing you're talking about a game in a completely different genre which is Halo here?

Personally I'm more annoyed that they're spending time on multiplayer rather than doing what they've done best so far and create great single player games.

Come on. Local split screen is barely played anymore and barely available on any game in that genre these days. I'm just pointing out the more than double standards that people have here.

Yes ND are known for SP but multiplayer was really highly thought of and pretty popular in not just TLOU but Uncharted too.

A bunch of us here played a ton of TLOU1 multiplayer.

At least there is one good thing about these games as a service titles that they have announced. If any of them are good I won't need to buy a PlayStation as they are all coming to PC day one.

Why? What exactly are you implying? That Sony are forcing their traditional single-player studios into live service games?

That they are moving away from being a predominantly single player focused publisher into one that is sticking more than half of it's recourses(60%) into games as a services.

That's avoiding the question. I've already pointed out that all the live service announcements we've seen are from studios that were specifically acquired for that reason. If their single-player studios just continue doing what they've been doing and these newly acquired studios focus on live service game on top of that, nothing is lost.

So again, are you implying that their single-player studios are going to stop focusing on single-player games and switch to live service games?

Well Naughty Dog have been trying to make a multiplayer game for the past 3 years that it has now kicked into the long grass. That's 3 years where they could have been making another new story focused single player game.

Do we even know what the other studios are making?

Naughty Dog made a multiplayer component for the first Last of Us game though, they were trying to do the same thing here. The fact that it got out of control is not exactly compelling evidence of a change of strategy. And they are supposed to have been working on a single-player sci-fi project for years now, although we don't have anything official on that of course.

No, we don't know what the other studios are making. Many of them have had major release in the last few years, so it's obviously going to be a long time before we hear from them, especially with how long AAA dev cycles are these days.

What have you been playing and what do you have to look forward to?

I'm currently playing Total War Medieval II. it's 17 years old but still a great game.

I am looking forward to Starfield. Love Bethesda games like ES and Fallout, love that style of game so, IF Starfield is ES/Fallout in space I'm all for it. I'm also looking forward to Hell Blade II, Avowed, and Fable.

I'm glad that Xbox is coming back to single player games. I'm not happy that PlayStation is now chasing the games as a service trend.

I'm just hoping that PlayStation does go too far down the games as a service rabbit hole just as Xbox is starting to make single player games.

Yep, Starfield and Hellblade are currently my two most eagerly awaited titles. After ES6 of course but not worth holding our breath for that one just yet.

Using any mods? Stainless Steel has probably eaten 500+ hours of my life.

I never thought I’d see this logo in a room of mine but my ps5 has melted so …

Bad times!

Seriously, quite intrigued as the how I’ll find it. First foray outside of Sony since PS1.

The photo rmeinds me. I really need to think about getting a soundbar My screen is a 65" LG. Its just on the stand it came with on my TV cabinet. not mounting it to a wall. But no space under it to fit a soundbar. So I need a riser. Can anyone recommend one? And are soudnbars wireless these days?
