Yeah but over the last few months there's been nothing to write home about on PlayStation either, and if you want to play third party surely it runs better and costs less on your PC?
Me and a buddy tend to take turns buying ps5 games so it can work out cheaper. I got Ragnorak, he got Resi 4, for example. PC for sure can be better for some 3rd party titles but others are more at home on a console.

Neither console has been great lately but all I said is that IF I sold one then it’d be the series X. That’s always been the case, though, but right now it feels like it’s gathering dust.

XBox right now, is shite mate, let it go

The ESRB leaks from Starfield's rating make it sound very paint by numbers.

I fully expect a middling Fallout in space now.

Seems an odd take to have on those. R&C I could see where you are coming from – but only really from the perspective of the art design.

What games would you consider not to be kids games??

I genuinely don't understand how anyone can think Spiderman, Ratchet and Clank and Uncharted weren't produced with capturing as wide of the age demographic as possible in mind. I'm not saying adult's can't enjoy them, but the gameplay, storyline, humour etc is all extremely PG and accessible. @swooshboy - in that same post I mentioned Elden Ring, Diablo, and the Last of Us, so that surely gives an indication..?

"Kids games" is harsh but I think he's right in spirit. Quite a few of the big hitters so far feel like they've been pitched at a Young Adult demographic.

This is particularly apt if you're comparing them to some of Sony's more detailed narrative experiences from last gen, such as Death Stranding, Bloodborne, The Last of Us, Ghosts of Tsushima, The Shadow of the Colossus remake, etc.

Special mention to Stray though as I think that's one of the more interesting ideas so far. He also mentioned Elden Ring which is obviously one of the most mature* games released so far.

Ironically I think Ratchet transcends the kid/adult dichotomy as it's just plain fun and kooky for all ages. Psychonauts 2 fits this bill for Xbox.

*I hate this word but I'm struggling to think of an alternative.

Edit - Great news guys!

Death Stranding! Now that was a game.

Considering two of those titles have ratings that mean they're categorically not aimed at a wide audience kind of kills your argument.

You sad bastard

Reading up on ESRB ratings for a game you don't want and have been dismissing for ages

Reading up on leaks from an ESRB rating for a game you are interested in is bad enough

Compared to the violence and themes of some other games, yeah they can be considered "safe". That's a world apart from being kids' games though, that's just silly and a term that has lost all meaning in arguments like this. More importantly, it doesn't diminish the quality of the writing.

This is more of a general observation, but people constantly talking in extremes makes every discussion about games so tiresome.

Reading this thread, I feel I am missing out, I have a PS5 and only really use it for Fortnite, I've got Ragnorak, Fifa and the F1 games on it as well, but none of them really excite me in anyway.

As I said - adults can enjoy them too. I was just making the point that a lot of the major exclusive games are a bit "safe". And that'll probably be because they make the most money as they are capturing all ages.

Ah come on, like the official age guidelines mean feck all.

Well legally they do. Sony cannot market Spiderman, Uncharted or GoW to children.

Whether kids end up playing them is ultimately a moot point. They're not kids games, despite your weird thresholds of what constitutes a kids game.

I get that then. If you and your buddy game share on the PS5 it makes sense to be there.

Could you imagine showing uncharted to a parent who knows nothing about games who wants to know if their little kid is safe to play it. Then witness Nathan Drake proceed to mass murder hundreds of bad guys.

It's the new thing levied at Sony, they make kids games. Nintendo have had that label for years, as unjust and stupid as it is.

The reality is there is a subsection of gamers, the gamer-bros, that only want super edgy mature themes, like shooting up a terminal building in COD. These gamers generally rose with the Xbox as they were kids when Live came out, so their whole gaming identity is based on the shooters and OW games that accompanied that era.

Says the guy who just judged a game before release on ESRB ratings. Couldn't make it up.

By your own weird adherence to official age guidelines, anyone over the age of 16 can play them. That is a child. So what are you going on about? :wenger:

Google it. The consensus on the internet from what I can gather is that kid's are good to play Uncharted. Even on Reddit - the haven of the uber safe nerd - people are saying Uncharted is fine for kids. Mass murdering hundreds of bad guys ffs.

No, that's a teenager. You cease being a child when you reach 13, and reach adulthood at 18. I'm guessing you're somewhere in-between.

You are oddly hostile. Regardless, I'm assuming you're in the UK? From gov.co.uk

Children We define a child as anyone who has not yet reached their 18th birthday. This is in line with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child and civil legislation in England and Wales. The fact that a child has reached 16 years of age, is living independently or is in further education, is a member of the armed forces, is in hospital or in custody in the secure estate, does not change their status or entitlements to services or protection.

 Prime Alock rolling back the years.

The average age of a latest-gen console owner is mid thirties. No standard release next gen games are aimed at kids.
I'm saying that most of the big hitters appealed to all ages. I'd prefer to see more that were adult. It's not that deep as the youngins say

You are being silly. Uncharted is a game clearly marketed for adults as well as teenagers, I don’t consider 16 year olds, kids

i don’t think many actual kids would enjoy it anyway.

as for Spider-Man. Yeah that’s all ages like the actual character from the comics and movies. Or did you expect Sony to make some edgy ultra violent version?

I'm being silly because I think kids might play Uncharted? 16 year olds are kids.

No I don't expect to be able to pimp slap hoes as Spiderman. I just want more games that let me pimp slap hoes, or things of that ilk. I don't understand what is so hard to understand about this.

@Alock1 you need to stage an intervention.

Your fellow gamer-bros are letting you down.

To be fair kids playing a game isn't the same as a it actually being a kids game. I saw someone said horizon forbidden west was a kids game but then suggested elden ring was somehow different. Just weird opinions really.
