Clever than Elvis or cleverer than everyone?

Cause like, the first one, that's not difficult.

Specifically Sarni but we know he means everyone

Elvis has Karl Pilkington intelligence. Don't underestimate it.

I have respect for @Sarni btw, also @Massive Spanner because he is the go to for what we should play.

The rest of you nobodies who pipe up every now and then (when summoned no less ), but know absolutely nothing (and worse, shill)? I tolerate you. Especially those who still to this day have avoided playing MK with me. It's a pity thing at this point.

Playing leisure suit larry, magma cum laude right now, would recommend to all 10/10

Elvis doesn't shill he just likes Playstation mate. Why do you have to be so cynical?

That's not true at all though, all the big engines work on the Switch. They all worked on the Wii/Wii U too. As for "different development processes" that's not true either, sure you have to devote manpower to it, but there's not a single reason any of those machines couldn't do what the current games were. Those machines were a lot easier to work with than then likes of the PS2/3 and Xbone at the times. It's not as simple as saying "oh now the new gen are basically laptops so anything you do on PC you do on them!" at all, ALL dev kits at the time you are talking were PCs emulating the power of the machines.

And again, even if you want to suggest a completely different team to work on a completely different game, let's remember the install base of those machines and the costs.

No, the problem mostly is how Nintendo works with 3rd parties and how the others play the game. I mean, let's look at the "exclusives" war for a start. In house development aside, look at all the bribes, trying to buy each other out, all that stuff. Nintendo being the first to tell EA to go feck themselves before GP was even a twinkle in Alock's tiny little balls.

The question raised was about 3rd party support. Motion controls, power of the machines (because BTW the N64 was lightyears ahead of the curve, the GCN competed with the Xbox and was ahead of the PS2 easily), some idea that they were "different to develop for" (N64 aside, all Nintendo consoles since have been a dream and much better supported than any others, the PS2/3 were nuts and the boner was atrocious) are just myths. The issue is and always will be the same, Nintendo rightly or wrongly do things their way and they have to make money. SCEA/J/U and Xbox division are bankrolled. And the last one are pretty much no different to Uber or Netflix right now in what happens when the investors want the money back. Which is why they've been up for sale a few times now, and yet no buyout.
Thanks, wasn’t aware of all of that. I have one example of NBA 2K which is indeed the same game on Switch as it is on other consoles but runs at 30 FPS in lower resolution and with lower quality textures. Lower FPS makes a ton of difference though as sports game is the worst of all genres to try it.

I have no idea why there is no GTA V for Switch though. Seems so obvious they’d try to make it.

XBox still seems to have nothing going for it... Not many big first party games, no VR... All a bit meh.

Neither has really had that many good exclusives to be honest, in general games for this generation have been scarce and often disappointing.

I’m still getting very good mileage out of Xbox but I must have used PS5 for a total of less than 10 hours in the last six months.

It's all relative @Sarni... You can say neither got many big games (I wouldn't, but you could) but XBox has demonstrably fewer big games then it's opposition. It's surprising to me, and it's surprising that none of you seem to care anyway....

I don’t care because I’ve had enough to play anyway and have found a lot of fun in some of the smaller titles like As Dusk Falls, HiFi Rush or Pentiment so I can’t say I’ve been bored.

PS5 has basically had GoW and Horizon to show for the entire generation, and Horizon wasn’t even that great. GT is fine but I find FH more enjoyable and accessible anyway.

I am not even an Xbox fan or anything. I have owned all consoles in all of the last few generations, I just prefer Xbox this time because it’s a much more user friendly experience. Previous generation I much preferred PS4.

So your answer to me questioning XBox output is to downplay Sony output?

@Alock1 taught you well... but still, Sony had more games, and better ones imo...

You seem incredibly sensitive over this. I have basically said I prefer Xbox purely for user experience (which isn’t even that controversial to begin with) and you have basically proclaimed me an Xbox fanboy already.

Both have been poor, Sony have had slightly more big titles but for 2.5 years it is still unremarkable to say the least, and from what I recall there isn’t anything large planned for this year with an announced release date either. It’s entirely possible that at the end of 2023 both will have had 5 or fewer big first party releases that are not remakes in 3 years. It has been a disappointing generation when it comes to games.

For me Xbox has also been somewhat helped by offering several multi platform releases in their subscription at launch, games I would probably not buy day one or before they are heavily discounted, and often I’d probably not even try them at all.

Covid hurt but if you include some cross generation titles think its been solid enough primarily due to 3rd party.
Neither console have enough 1st party games for it to be a selling point in their favour imo.

Yeah 3rd party games have been all right though impacted by COVID and not without some major disappointments. Indie games have been good too but it’s been happening since last generation, the amount of good games from small teams has been steady.

It could be a great year going ahead anyway. Diablo 4, Starfield, Baldurs Gate 3, Street Fighter 6, Elden Ring DLC is a strong line up. Potential for a fair bit of disappointment with a couple of them but if they live up to the developers previous titles it could be pretty special too. Only 1 exclusive I think? Are Bethesda games going to be a timed exclusive?
Loads of others like Spiderman 2 that probably wont be mind blowing but should be above average gap fillers too. And indie devs will keep throwing out a few gems that we'll be oblivious to until they're released.

No. HiFi Rush, Stargate and Redfall are console exclusives. The same will probably be true for Fallout and Elder Scrolls.

I really, really hope Diablo is amazing. Such a cool theme and playstyle and so easy to sink hours into it.

I don't think there'll be another Bethesda game for PlayStation unless Microsoft feel like they need to do that to push Activision deal through.

Similarly, once Activision deal is completed, I could see CoD still being made for PlayStation (given the current debate over this it's probably inevitable for MS) but not THPS or Diablo.

Are Bethesda games going to be a timed exclusive?
Full console exclusive. Same with ABK when that is done unless they're forced to release certain games on other platforms for a fixed period like with CoD, so no more Crash Bandicoot, Spyro or other games that have been primarily associated with PlayStation historically.

Redfall previews are great! Wasn't expecting a strong response to it.

Still think the type of game it is will dampen critical acclaim potential but looks to be shaping to a decent game to follow up HiFi Rush.

Maybe? Wouldn't be a shock, Spiderman and Final Fantasy (both) should be good.

What do you think?

Not sure.

Hope Spiderman kills it though. I loved the first. Platinumd it and did all the dlc.

The formula got old with Miles though. Still haven't completed it.

You think Playstation will have the better exclusives this year?

It should be a strong year for Xbox, hopefully Starfield and Redfall deliver. Forza will almost certainly be good and they got off to a very good start with HiFi Rush, I also believe there are quite a few good indies to come.

I'd wait to see which bethesda are gonna turn up before banking on Starfield, reeked of stupid base building never ending nonsense when i last watched a gameplay segment, which is the exact nonsense that made Fallout 4 a massive downgrade.

Fallout 3 bethesda, then your talking!

Miles was such a short game haha.

Funny enough I completed Miles and then took me about a year to finish Spider-Man. Really enjoyed the final acts of Spider-Man.

This generation has been pretty dire so far. I don't even own one of these consoles yet as the best games haven't even been exclusive to the new generation.

FFXVI is the first game that has actually made me interested in buying a new console, and that will be over two and a half years since the console released. Other than that, it has been a pretty pathetic showing up to this point.

Xbox - they have been too slow with their games development, or just badly timed with it. Their initial expo sounded interesting (Avowed, Fable, and, supposedly, another AAA RPG in development), along with the acquisition of Bethesda. Timing of their purchase of Bethesda wasn't exactly the best, to be honest - Starfield doesn't have anywhere near the draw of Elder Scrolls, which is a problem.
