Dunno not watched it. Just knew it had been a big debate here.

I imagine even if it's a no it's more a 'not yet'

I don't have 90mins at the moment, but I'm guessing it's going to echo my thoughts...It's a great machine, great form and doesn't quite do what it's supposed to in many ways (resolution vs features), but ultimately isn't really specifically holding the gen back as consoles on the whole do that anyway. Whether or not they have a problem with the memory (and not just moan about the lack of disk drive) and what that means, depends on their mood at the time of filming.

As much as they will be as diplomatic as always and not quite say the truth of what they think, I personally say overall that I stand by what I've said all along...in many ways the S does and will hold back the X, but it's still such a viable and very well thought out machine it's hard to not love it as from both hardware and software perspectives. Whilst Sony really do have a stranglehold on the gaming side (and I'm not going to bother going over that again, but MS are still miles off if they would even get there, no this gen isn't their year 'la, nor the next one either IMO), both the X and S are seriously well designed, built and priced machines.

Xbox ftw!

Something I was thinking about recently, since Microsoft already have an underpowered console that is targeting a different group of customers, would it be feasible for them to also release a small handheld - the size of Switch lite or something - that would support Game Pass and all of its less demanding titles? Where MS have excelled in this generation is support for indie developers and having virtually all indie titles day one on Game Pass, most of these games could probably run quite easily on a device much less powerful than Series S that could be streamlined into a handheld. Seeing how successful Switch has been with its portability features, I reckon this could be a big seller. Cloud gaming is good but you can't really do that in most places, even most hotels don't have bandwidth strong enough to support it currently.

Steamdeck exists. I dont think MS care much for hardware and previous attempts to compete with Steam haven't ended well.
I wonder is there a workaround to get gamepass on the steamdeck? Download the games from ms and add the launcher to your steam library. Would that work?

The Steam Deck is a PC, it can run GP, although it isn't straightforward and I believe you need to install Windows because MS games won't run on Linux.

If you watch they actually say Series S will hold back PS5 more than the Series X! @b82REZ
They also say that it will force developers to make games that run better on the bigger machines because if you make a game that will run on the S then optimise it for the X you will have better performance(FPS/Resolution) on the X. Their hold back is how will it handle UE5 and raytracing. They've ripped in to the new Halo update though. I haven't been back since launch.

My emotions are somewhere in between feeling excitement and needing a shower, I'm so Team Playstation it's crazy

Joking aside, what should i be sniffing out to begin with that isn't on Sony's side?
The Ori games are ace. Psychonauts 2 is really good. Forza 4 and 5 are stunning. Sea of Thieves is supposed to be great with mates. Personally I'm playing the new Plague Tale and, even though it's not an exclusive, it's very good.

Forza will be downloaded this weekend no doubt and Sea of Theives is something my son loves, he's PC, will I be able to play?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure you can play with PC folk on your Xbox. Sure you'll have a blast!

Psychonauts 2 is also on PS5, though it is technically only a PS4 native title.

I would say: Ori games (at the very least Will of the Wisps), Scorn, Flight Sim, Pentiment, Grounded and Forza Horizon 5. That list will grow in the next couple of years.

Lots of good suggestions already but that Somerville game just came to gamepass - the one made by the team behind Limbo/Inside. You might enjoy that?

Edit - It's been mentioned plenty of times - often by me - but the best thing about Xbox isn't necessarily what it has that Sony doesn't but rather what you can play with a GP subscription. It's definitely worth a browse through the catalogue :)

I am currently finishing Pentiment and can recommend it highly. It drags a little towards the later part but still manages to present an interesting story, while also making sure your choices impact development of the story. Not much of a game as it’s more of an interactive book but you will have quality time with it.

As Dusk Falls is also a narrative driven game that’s very engaging and enjoyable. It is shorter and choices matter even more. Highly recommend it as well.

Ears pricked already :) Love me a good narrative driven game. Just finished a little indy title called Road 96.

Heard good things about this. It's on the list!

Nothing wrong with wanting bad games to fail. Both consoles churning them out on conveyor belts atm
