Cops getting hammered. This is only going to get uglier from both sides I reckon.
They have bodycam, it's the most open system of policing. What more could you expect? Unless you're God himself I don't think you can get a better proof to an incident than a bodycam.
The other 3 cops weren't charged (yet as we speak) not because there's no proof, but because of something else more sinister.
The video is all in the internet for the whole world to judge for themselves and here's the local DA worried about not getting a conviction if he go murder 1 because some jury might be some sort of law professor and nitpick on law technicalities.

The issue being discussed is the shooting of a store owner by officers who appear to have had their cams switched off.
I’m waiting for that one Seminal moment. The moment to change everything.
For one large city Police head to be bold and brave enough to ask his entire force to take a knee. Shields down. Batons and guns holstered.
Take a knee. Grab a loudspeaker, address the crowd. Apologise. Tell them they are heard. Ask them for calm. Promise change. Make change happen.
Not that it should be a consoderation, but That person would stand to be one of the pivotal people in US history.
It will never happen. Because the people willing to take that stand (Heh) are nowhere near positions of power.
But it could.
I wonder if we'll see a change in culture from some people. The police can't be trusted and are essentially a boys club for violent assholes.
Yeah people are acting impulsively and irrationately, filled with hate and anger. Stuff like this will just make the police act worse against others though. Scared police = more violent police. Definately escalating with extreme violence now. Trump doesn't excactly help the police with the way he acts either.. Must be scary times to live in the us now, pandemic and all plus all this.
Typical newspaper said:'George Floyd was killed. But f*ck details of his life and death, let alone an actual obituary - here's a load of tweets from celebrities about him!'
Sorry to be sarcastic but this really grates with me, and it happens all the time:
I mean we saw two police vehicles accelerate into a crowd two(?!) days ago in NYC. The police have already been "there".
How often do peaceful protests actually get stuff done? How often do they change anything? The likes of Kaepernick were peaceful protestors and they were demonised.
America unfortunately has to see this stuff on their streets for them to wake up to it, arguably the world does in the current era of disinformation.
I don't wish violence or death on anyone but peaceful protesting only gets you far in the moral stakes, riots and looting do more for the real factors. Those people in power only really take notice when they have to as opposed to when it appears to be good optics to offer platitudes.
And "there" is not a place anyone wants to go. Two wrongs don't make a right. It is possible to look at each situation and be upset by them equally.
However awful this occurrence was, it kind of annoys me how this one is getting global coverage with people from differing countries even contributing to the protest but other instances of police brutality which occur very often do not garner this kind of attention. I know this annoyance may be irrational as the beginning of a global movement against racism is obvisouly great, however I can't help but feel lots of people are doing it in an insincere manner on social media platforms (i.e. just following everyone else in posting something about this instance of police brutality when no other instance of police brutality got this kind of attention).

Except for the people who spent their last days gassing, spraying, beating, shoving, shooting and arresting protesters I guess? And when you say both situations upset you equally does that mean you assume the other driver had an emergency to get to as well?
I think running over people is wrong. Period. But I'm against framing this one like it gives the police an excuse for further escalation, when they have already relentlessly abused legitimate protesters for days. And while I hope that this driver will be brought to justice I doubt he will get it either way.
I just agree with Obama

Rioting and attacking random police men just emboldens the white race supremists. A random cop getting killed for being a cop is a tragic as a black man being killed for being black.
I don't think anyone has tried to frame anything other than you to be fair.
It's a shame there's no forum which allows adults to discuss things rationally without the childish undertones.
This stuff should get more media attention and is what's needed to help de-escalate the situation and shut Trump down. Not all cops are racist nor are they bad people. This needs to be seen as how to police and be in touch with your communities.
I interpreted "Stuff like this will just make the police act worse against others though. Scared police = more violent police. Definately escalating with extreme violence now. Trump" like it was going into that direction.
It's a good thing though we have you to reminding everyone how they are being childish, how noble of you to keep using your time to discuss with people who can't be rational. You really are too good for this forum, I feel sorry that you are forced to be here.
It's a nice thought but the definition of 'country' has been warped; it no longer equates to 'people' but to 'property' and 'money'.I know I mentioned it before and was called naive, but I really think/hope that if the army gets called in, then at least some of them will side with the protesters. I know the US military doesn't exactly have a stellar track record, but I genuinely think that the army folks would have actually signed up to protect their country, as opposed to the cops who seem to just love the authoritah and power tripping.
Someone should explain to her how selfie cameras work...

Im quite surprised and horrified at how well the US police are equipped. Every single one of them seems to have full body armor, weaponry, gas masks, shields etc in abundance. You would think that in this sort of situation they would be stretched too thin, but that doesnt seem to be the case. The sheer volume of them. How much of the US economy and taxpayer money has gone into recruiting, paying, training and outfitting these thousands upon thousands of officers?
In the UK I would expect to see some small units of similarly geared riot police, but the lines mostly made up of regular officers.

I didnt get that from @Cardboard elk but then again I wasn't reading what he posted and seeking a confrontation. With regards to the last paragraph grow up.
I understand it but the people get real fecking touchy when anyone dares to call it out.I really don’t understand how people are trying to put a negative spin on any of this, I mean it’s quite clear there is a racism problem in the states that should be getting addressed and any action is good action.
Now you have people saying well why isn’t other injustices not being highlighted, it’s not our problem or was it even a racist incident.
I mean what the hell how do people even think like that or are they trying to dilute the situation I don’t know.
I get you exactly..I understand it but the people get real fecking touchy when anyone dares to call it out.

This isn't really a limitation of technology but willingness on part of the US police departments to open themselves up for accountability.
You can drop the patronising attitude. It's just as annoying as being childish.
I find it's the best way to deal with people who lack the ability to engage in mature conversation. I'll take the advice on board though.
Well no it really isn't. Do you like being talked down to?

Another person. Not sure about the one you posted, her outcome that is. Is she the one that was walking home from work that someone posted about a few pages back?
Update: post #1100 by @Silva - same person in the image?
