Pro Evolution Soccer 2011

Tbh PES5 was far from being a great great game of football. It had countless negative aspects to it.
I don't buy into all this "PES 5 is the best game ever" thing, it was a good game for its time that's for sure

Same. I do have my PS2 set up with the Pro Evo disc in it. And I also still have it on my pc - although they arent the same... I did go back and play it for a time. But just like any of today's football games, after a while you do get pig sick of its issues.

And it has as many if not more than Fifa 10. It still holds its own with today's best football games, but the amount of times people go on about it like its the father of their first born... Well sorry not for me. Great game for its time, good game for today.

Name the issues from PES5...

I thought PES6 (on PS2) was better.

PES5, if I remember, your shots would travel at a ridiculously fast speed, and I think it was the one where all the stadiums were always empty during the game.

PES4 was great too, and all of the ones where you could buy that Babangida guy on master league, who was about 50 times faster and more skillful than anyone else on the game, and yet still somehow completely rubbish.

On top of my head, I remember how hard it was to stop bulldozer-like-players such as Adriano.I remember having problems with responsive issues (that aspect has never satisfied me in any football game btw).PES 5 was rigid, you could the same cheap goals (not saying current game are free of them) such 'cutbacks' and the refereeing was shit.Shooting was way too powerful
There are a lot more stuff I can remember if I play it, every game has its drawbacks and more often than not PES5's get forgotten

First 2 players to buy on ML were Babangida and Bierhoff, after that everything was easy.

This looks very promising: normally, in any football game, Muller would have taken the ball and ruined the promising attack.

I dunno. I reckon you could pull that move off in PES10, if you had good enough players.

I've become slightly addicted to the PS2 PES6 again :nervous:. It's just so effortlessly better than anything Konami have come out with since.

The only downside to PES6 was how piss easy it was to beat the keeper one on one

That's hardly ground breaking but certainly looks promising.

Use the L1 cross all the time. It's amazing. It basically crosses the ball like Nani did for the first yesterday. Even though it's an early cross it works from anywhere.

Ffs just noticed this is one month away from release....:(

I'm very uncomfortable with how that ball moves; stopping after every touch like it weighs 10 lbs., other than that - promising.

I've already Pre-ordered FIFA 11, but this maybe the first time I'll be actually buying original for both titles.

Like I've said previously, next year will be very interesting for football gamers. FIFA's increasingly starting to look like it's resting on a plateau.

I'll buy both. I usually just buy PES but FIFA was alright for me last year. Ive always had a loyalty to PES since like PES4 but both will keep me occupied at Uni

Last year was the first time I had not bought the new pro evo since Pro Evolution Soccer 2. Even though to me Fifa has been better for quite a while, I'm going to give the demo a go and see if its worth buying along with Fifa again this year.

If I'm sold on the demo I'll be getting the WE2011 R3 Asian Edition. English menus and player names with Japanese commentary! Reminds me of my childhood days playing Winning Eleven on the Playstation.

Goals from 1:20 onwards.

Confirmed that the XBOX360 Demo will hit tomorrow.

Looking forward to d/ling it and giving it a bash, comparing it to the PS3 version. Will be interested to see how the game feels using the analog stick on the 360 in comparison to the PS3 - never used the analog stick on the PS3 for PES before but I have been trying to use it for the PES2011 demo.

DEMO up in about 3 hours or so for PC users:cool:, console players wait until morning.

Me likes, playing at 640x480

Not saying its amazing but very promising for what is supposed to be a early build. Not too sure about the camera angle though, seems bit a disorienting.

Anyway, bed!

Played the Japanese demo, so did not have a chance to try any tweaking. Manual passing definitely needs a bit of time to get used to but is a good addition.

Only the Japanese one is out for now I think. Had to register a Japanese PSN account to get it. Even the rest of Asia one isn't out yet which I'm definitely going to get as all the menus are in English instead of Japanese.

I played it last night.

So much of an improvement it just makes me wonder WTF they've been doing for the last 6 years.

6 years?

PES6, PES5 and PES4 on the PS2 were cracking games - far better than the FIFA iterations at the time (PES6 on the 360 was terrible though)

Having just played the FIFA demo, I can see similarities with the PES 6/FIFA 07 era. For me that's the era when PES started to stand still and FIFA started to push on, but PES was still the superior game..

Right now (having played both demos) I'd say FIFA is still the better game, but it's stood still. FIFA 11 is essentially a minor tweak of the WC one, which itself was a minor tweak of FIFA10. PES 11 has pushed on a lot and while it isn't quite there yet, it's the one that's certainly had the more work put into it

If the trend stays the same I can see PES starting to pull level and then regain it's crown in a couple of years...I was very disappointed with how un-new and the same FIFA felt. The same feeling I got when I bought PES 08 for the PS2 in fact.

I think you will be proven right, unless of course Fifa are just purposefully holding back on genuine innovation until they really need to show their hand i.e. Pro becoming competitive again.

Its one of the reasons why I'm staying away from purchasing new games until maybe 2 years time, the games on the current market are simply just ripping people off and not mind blowing enough for me.

Definitely ...They may be holding out for the next next gens...

If thats the case.. I must admit then that this current gen of consoles have been the worst since gaming began in terms of mind blowingness.. I can't think of a single game on the current consoles that had me enraptured like the Pro's of yesteryear and GTA: San Andreas, Metal gear solid etc.

You're just getting old.
