Pro Evolution Soccer 2011

Finally managed a game last night.

Beat the Dippers 3-2 thanks to goals Owen, Rooney and Berbatov.

Rooney's was a 90th minute equalisers and Berba's was a 119th minute winner. :D

I reckon he was referring to the PS3 not the game.

Indeed I was.

The cheapest "deal" I saw was €350 with that new motion thing and 1 game of my choice. That was for the 320gb version. I dont actually need that much memory so I looked for the standard one not sure what size it was (obviously smaller) and it was €300

Cant decide what to do now, probably just go with the 320gb. Same deal was €384 in game

PS3 feckers can add me if they want.

This is me kicking the ball into my own face a minute ago. Interesting animation I'll grant you.

Worked for Chicharito, don't knock it till you've tried it ;)

No. In fact technically not anywhere near. Bu it's more interesting because FIFA's the same game you bought last year. Twice.

That said I'm getting very tired of it.

The main limitation in any football game will always be that the computer has to 'fill in the gaps' to provide an individual simulation of a team game. To what extent you enjoy this game depends on how willing you are to buy into the fiction.

I can understand why the fluid gameplay found in old games like Kick Off 2 and Sensible Soccer was really never built upon and why games instead reverted back to the ball stuck to your foot motif. It's because the former style of game would no longer resemble an actual match and with super realistic graphics, game designers are obliged (at least visually) to closely obey the laws of physics.

I feel as football fans we're far more forgiving of the defects than we would be for any other game. Imagine a game of Tetris where you only have partial control of the bricks but were nevertheless still entralled because your favourite pastime was to watch falling bricks.

Playing against mates, PES blows FIFA out of the water.

Playing against AI, it's pretty mediocre.

Yah. Haven't been able to get into the single player at all on either game, but PES is a laugh on multiplayer. Even online I've found myself behaving like an excited six year old.

It's utterly ridiculous at times but somehow that's what makes it fun.

I don't know whether I love or hate this game. Online Master League is great fun your 1-0 up in a competition, everything's going great and then suddenly from an innocuous cross your keeper chargers out, is left in no man's land and the opponent side foots it in the net. I then curse and break stuff. Five minutes left in the match I float in a lofty free kick from 60 yards, head it and hit the post then score from the ensuing chaos in a goal mouth scramble. I love this game again!

I think I must be shit at it though because I usually only win 1-0 or it's a 0-0 draw. What's everyone's team like in Master League, mine is pretty shit I've got Lovenkrands up front, Colucci (Some random 37 Italian midfielder) and a right back whose name I can't remember how to spell. El Moubraki or something like that.

EDIT: Oh and I've had lag in about 90% of the games.

Playing against mates, PES blows FIFA out of the water..

Utter nonsense. FIFA is as fine as ever against mates, it's only against the computer it becomes 'routine' and handicapped by the AI forcing you into similar patterns. PES however is handicapped by awful running, turning and non 360 movement in both modes. It's drawbacks hinder it from blowing anything out of the water. Arrrghh, that be fanboi talk that be.

Objectively FIFA is still the better game, it's just dull and repetitive after 3 identical installments.... And the game modes are crap.

Only mode I'm playing is Online Master League, and I've only managed 8 games so far.

How the feck do you get money to buy players? I managed to get a couple of million by trimming out the squad, but then I wasted it on Kleberson, who's crap, and I only seem to get about 80-100K per game.

Everyone I play against seems to have half a team or more of purchased players...though that does make fluking a 2-1 victory all the more sweeter. The rubbish default ML players are so prone to random spastic episodes it makes every game almost completely mad.

Some (presumably) 12 year old kid just called me a 'catolic cnut' for picking Celtic in response to him picking Rangers. He then tried to inject a bit of culture into the conversation by calling me gay boy about twenty times.

I love online play. It's like taking public transport without the smells.

oh fecking yes.

I just qualified from my CL group in master league thanks to a last minute van den berg winner at old trafford after being 1-0 down to a berbasloth header. this kind of matchday experience just made the whole game worthwhile. Plus it was right during a chorus of 'you are my solskjaer...'

I sold loads of players from my squad bringing it down to 16 and then used that money. Had about 5 or 6 mill to spend I think.

Kleberson!

The trick to getting money on online is when you trim your squad to 16 get two or three half decent players or young and promising,I went for bent and wiltshere and then keep playing or watching in coach mode.
Takes quite a long time to raise more money but when you need to buy again look for the division 2 players that are rated at 20's, they are around 10 grand and then sell one more of your original squad and get enough for a better player with your match earnings.Has took me about a week but so far I have bent, wiltshere, macheda, adam johnson and rodwell signed.Hopefully they improve with age.

I have so far got Chicharito, kevin prince boateng and wiltshire. I also read that there is a lot of money I'm competitons on MLO

I bought Ngog, Mata (free) and some goalie they made me buy. I've promoted two youth players, who were both infinitely better than the players I already had and they're both 16.

Now I've got some buys lined up for january, pretty much all ex-Arse players. Diaby, Bentley, Djourou and Pacheco.

As far as I know there is no player growth in Master League Online.

Almchendolf 1-1 Real Madrid.

Ronaldo 27'

Borvenbach 90' + 1'

I love doing this to cnuts online! Get the feck in!

You playing Master league online?

No, I stopped paying attention during the team selection thing and it auto-assigned me to whatever the feck their name is.

Gonna set up my online master league team tomorrow I'd say.

Got it yesterday finally. Taking me a while to get into it but I think it's growing on me. It has alot of flaws already mentioned on here. I don't agree with not being able to place shots though, it's been the same as it's always been, "R2 + Shoot."

Same with sprinting, there's no flaw here. Simply time the tapping of the sprint button when you have the ball and providing your player is fast enough your easily coming off best.

Ok, I have a stupid question. When I first booted the game and it gives you settings to choose from I turned off the player names from appearing above the player but now I want them back but can't find the setting for it!

Right. It's deinfitely a grower. I'm starting to enjoy, but there are some things that fustrate the hell out of me.

Does anyone feel that everything is a bit to "loose." I mean, it doesn't even feel like your in possession. And when you score, most of time its a case of "oh right, that was a goal was it?" You can score a screamer and it just doesn't feel as good as it woud have on Pro Evo 6.

This of course is not helped by the sound. I don't know if it's just the PC version, or it is terrible in general. You can barely hear the sound of the ball, or the posts when hitting them, or generally anything else that is important to the atmosphere.

The commentary is as pathetic as ever. "He couldn't hit a barn door let alone the corner flag".....Does that even make sense?

Online Master League keeps "randomly" selecting me to play away from home against people with 600+ ratings.

Also, is it possible to actually win/lose a game based even slightly on being the better player, rather than on when the computer decides to make something spastic happen, or when you press to do something and something completely different happens instead?

I have seen it happen a couple of times.
