It's been there for quite a few years already.
Shooting like I mentioned is highly dependent on the body position of your players and well, whether there's any pressure on them. They're highly likely to balloon a shot if there a player sticking close to them or pressuring them. If you have a quick player and a robust one i.e. Rooney. Tried tapping the R1 twice while carrying the ball to push the ball further ahead of you and try to get away from the defender, then take the shot. Although with weaker players you're more likely to get barged off the ball. The distance of the ball to your leg also determines whether they'll toepoke it or take a proper shot.
Drag them further out to the wings in the settings. Nani and Valencia always stay out wide for me when I play around with the ball in the middle with Scholesy and Carrick, offering me the opportunity to stick it out wide when I need to.
Oh, and on the link feints thingy. My friend actually made some good use of it. Instead of sticking 4 tricks on it, he sticks one which would be useful in a game i.e. Ronaldo Chop or that Inside Step thingy hence eliminating the need to do the skills manually. I don't do it personally, I still go on manual but he has 4 skills preset on the 4 L1 preset, making it easy to dribble past players as it only involves pressing the L1 button and flicking the right analog stick. That's one way you could use that I reckon instead of running 4 tricks at once and get tackled in the 2nd or 3rd skill.
Finally gave in to the itch and ordered this off Amazon for £30.
Arrgh, I just can't bring myself not to hate this game. There's to much about it that's just utterly retarded.
The shooting is retarded, the crossing is retarded, the way players position themselves and make runs is retarded, the passing is occasionally retarded, the referee is retarded...it's just endless. I can't get into it at all. Occasionally something normal or cool will happen, but then it's immediately cancelled out by one of the million idiotic looking things that invariably follows it. Every time I play my heart is constantly sinking at the latest "how the feck would that ever happen in real life?" moment.
I want to play it some more but at the same time I don't because I know it'll just make me hate it more. I think I actually prefered the last one.
I have no problem getting shots on target, I have a problem with the fact it's impossible to do anything other than power blast them, no matter how little power you put on the shot.
For example, I got through on goal with Rooney, feather tapped the shoot button in order to place the ball into the bottom corner, and what happens?...he power punts it into the top corner at about 500mph. Next time I try the same thing but using the R2 button...he power punts it at about 500mph into the goalkeeper, only using the side of his foot. Players don't shoot like this in real life, ever. It looks ridiculous.
As fort eh positioning, I moved the two wingers right out to the touchline, and that was indeed where they stood next time I played. Except that's exactly what they did...stood there. No making runs when you're in possession, no trying to get in behind or inside the fullback. They just stood there. It's so unbelievably fecking frustrating because this just doesn't happen in real life, and never used to happen on PES...even five or six years ago.

I don't know noods. Maybe you need to check your strategies? Nani and Valencia on the wings makes plenty of runs for me. As for the shooting issue I've scored some goals in the bottom corner, round the keeper kinda goals. Mostly just involves some manipulating of the directional button. When I usually baloon a shot, there's a defender pressuring me.
The crossing is brilliant Noods and you're reporting so many issues that I just have not experienced with this game. I'm starting to think you're either just a bitch that likes to moan, an idiot or just shit at life.
Having played it quite a bit now the only two issues I have are with the tactics and players changing positions, but I suspect that's my fault entirely, and also corners/crossing seems like a total gamble and whenever I've scored from them it's been an AI teammate doing it.
Delivery of crosses is much improved though. Previous versions I thought it was frustrating because I couldn't really cross it in with pace and the whole process seemed deliberately slowed down. Suppose this is fixed now but it's caused a problem in terms of controlling players attacking crosses. Could be I'm just pants, mind.

I don't deny being any of those things but I just can't force myself to like this game. I usually enjoy PES, even the last few relatively crappy efforts, to a degree. This one just frustrates the hell out of me...I can't gain any sense of realism from it at all.
But a lot of the things you're rpeorting are issues that only you seem to be having.
From the sound of it I think we're quite equally skilled at the game, that is having some troubles with the controls. Playing with 11 players has been messy so far to say the least. I've found playing BAL has been quite useful to get to grips with the plethora of options available to me on the controller. It also has made it easier to get a bearing on how the AI behaves.
Nah cw, I thought Mockney summed it up quite nicely with the Hargreaves bicycle kick into space post. I'm just the only one who it seems to be ruining the game for. I can't stop noticing all these niggly little things and it sucks the sense of realism, and thus fun, from the game.

I'm not saying it's not go issues. It has plenty. It's just the issues that seem to have really got your goat are issues that other people aren't experiencing. The shooting, wingers keeping wide etc.

But your analysis of the shooting is wierd because you say they always just cnut the ball at 500mph when it isn't the case. I've only played the demo but that was the same code as was in the release and i scored plenty of goals that were placed into the corner.

Do you both play wired or wireless? I've been told by a few people now that they've had no problems online. Apart from the odd game, obviously.
Wired, I think. I gave up after getting hammered at SF4 by a 11 year old from Taiwan a. I'm decent at SF4 but the lag was too much for a person who just played online for the first time.
I've found online to be very good this year and I don't have amazing broadband.
The shooting is still better than Fifa. The biggest problem is the retarded ref. The players take 5 steps to get up to speed and when they do they get caught up by slower players. For instance, I literally found it impossible for Lennon to pull away from Zambrotta.
Yeah, that's one of my main issues with it. They artificially raise the difficulty by making it next to impossible to get away from players. Nicky Shorey just caught up with Aaron Lennon after Lennon had a five yard head start. Utterly daft.
To be fair, I'm having many if not all the same problems as you, and also finding it frustrating...I even decided to write one of my articles for the week on how shit both games are because it was occupying so much of my thought proccess (Bruce Willis vs The Chinese Gigolo - PES and FIFA are doing nothing for me this year. | FootballFanCast.com)
I am still playing it..Cos I really like the good bits..But it's annoying me at least 4 times every game. If not more. For a start, this is not 360 degree dribbling. It's not. sorry, no.

I'm with you on the "sameyness" of FIFA. In terms of a technical acievement it's superb (imo anyway) but i'm bored of it already. It's just so similar to the last 2 titles that I have no desire to play it, as i've been playing pretty much the same game none stop for a year as it is.
I wasn't even going to get FIFA this year but in the end I got excited and picked it up from Tesco. I played on it for quite a few hours that day and since then I think i've only picked it up once. Since then i've had no desire to play it and even though I didn't start work until 6pm today I ended up playing Red Dead instead which has previously been shelved in favour of FIFA10 and the WC.

Yep, that's my main problem with the game too. They need to figure out a better way of upping the difficulty.

The list of major problems with this game is endless. And yet still I can't bring myself to play Fifa against the AI on any sort of game mode. I just beat Barcelona in Master League 1-0 thanks to a 25 yard Castolo screamer into the top corner. Just a real moment of magic, worth buying the game for alone. Also playing away in the CL when it's raining and coming away with a well earned 3 points is fantastic.
I was a bit annoyed with the game last night. Then some bloke online played a through ball and Torres ran onto it, got to it just before the keeper but his touch pushed him wide on his left foot (similar to Sparky v Barca in the Cup Winners' Cup albeit on the other side). He shot but as it was his left it wasn't as powerful. Ledley King was running back and I did a despairing slide and I managed to just reach the ball and toe poke it inches wide.

If i have to buy one it'll be PES. Fifa is slick etc but it literally has ZERO feel, PES is still nowhere near as good as it was in the PES6 days but it seems to be trying to get that feel back.
My friends old PS2 broke which is devistating, we'd still play PES6 on it with a classic teams memory card, including a United side with Best, Law, Charlton and co... It was outstanding!

Is it just me or is everyone really rubbish at Online Master League? I keep beating or drawing with people who have an entire team of real players. All I've got is Kleberson.
