Premier League Gameweek 5

Plenty of people criticized Real Madrid for their “anti-football” tactics at Etihad last year but Arsenal doing it is presumably brilliant stuff.

Ref lost control ofthe game when he refused to send havertz off early.

Then calls walker over for a chat, let's arsenal take a free kick from the wrong spot while walker getting back but he's somehow favouring City?

It’s disgusting. People who defend this. How many times have you seen someone getting a red for a push in the back? This shit happens in every single game and players rarely even gets a yellow for it. Giving a second yellow in the first half for this is insane.

The consistency is just shocking, there is no line. Now Oliver has become the main character and ruined the game. Congratulations i guess.

Premier League really making inroads in the american market. So many people out there in the rain outside the studio in Chicago

Not sure people here know what Trossard was sent off for. It was for bulldozing Silva over, nothing to with the kick after. He was already on a yellow.
Then why he gesturing that it was for kicking the ball away when Trossard was dissenting?

Also how come Doku wasn't yellow carded for kicking the ball away earlier?

Bent fecking ref. No way that was a red especially in a big game, they let worse things go all the time.

What are you on about? "Especially in a big game" rules don't change because the size of the occasion FFS. Same waffle Mike Dean was banging on about last week so we know it's incorrect because he's as big of a whopper as Michael Oliver.

It's silly from Trossard but the bar for getting sent off is too low these days. Would a talking to there really be the end of the world?
If that's the rule then fair enough. City are well within their rights to want the referee to apply the rules here, that everyone has to follow.

Both these teams are masters at the dark arts. Don't think they can complain too much when stuff like this inevitably bites them.

As Utd fans, many of us love to act like victims of referees but Arsenal have been shafted in this game and in the one where Rice was sent off.
Bottom line is that the PL referees are pure garbage and they shaft a lot of teams
Both their goals dubious, second is a blatant foul on the keeper.

I wonder if Oliver was just considering a yellow but maybe thinking a final warning for trossard until he decided to smash the ball away, kind of didn't really leave him an option.

Looking at the foul again by Trossard, he could easily get a second yellow for just barging him in the back and the kicking the ball away just gives the ref another incident to consider

How so? That was a clear yellow.

Trossard got a yellow card for kicking the ball away not for the foul. It's dumb from him considering he saw Rice got sent off for the same.

Arsenal are fouling the goalkeeper in every corner they take.
VAR doesn't see this?

Yeah right  Another week of reading dumb takes, exhausting joke of a league.

The way I see it even if I think the sending off is harsh in of itself, Trossard still gave an idiot like Oliver, the opportunity to make a decision and he can only blame himself for that
Trossard is fully aware of what he's doing there, otherwise he would have taken the ball down and looked to play Martinelli in.

Players have had enough warning at this stage. Don't play the ball after the foul. Simple.

Because Doku wasn't kicking the ball away, he was making a point by rolling the ball back to where the free kick should have been taken from. He was reminding Oliver about the first Arsenal goal.

They showed quite clearly he was able to get back into position.

arsenal will park a space ship after this red card. city might not be able to score again.

Rodri potentially being injured for months is a bigger result for Arsenal than anything they get here.

What was it last season, he missed four games suspended and Man. City lost three of them. They also gave one of the worst performances of the Pep era when they lost to us at Villa Park.

I could see them dropping points at Newcastle next weekend as that's a pretty tricky venue for them usually.

Why was the game allowed to continue well into the 7th minute of stoppage time when Trossard got the red card? I’m surprised that’s not been pointed out.
