Incredibly damaging for the manager this one. It’s his fault, he’s the man on charge. The only mitigation I’ll give him, as I sit piss wet through in a heaving car park once again, is that we have some fecking pathetic characters in our playing staff. Weak, low IQ, completely lacking character or resilience.

Ten Hag’s time is done, this is the beginning of the end whether it comes sooner or later. He’s failed to turn things around fast enough and the mood in the crowd was different today. But good luck to the next poor bastard we get. That squad is not built for modern football, which is a huge collective failure on everyone at the club.

I have not called for ETH to be sacked until now. It is painfully obvious he has lost the dressing room and there is no recovering from that unless Ineos sanction he drop the whole squad which is not going to happen. The logic of continuing on with ETH and expecting anything different now is just so unrealistic. He is not up to the job and leaving him in it because other candidates might not be up to the job is the most rediculous thinking I have heard. The logic of we know he is shit but the others might be shit too so we'll not change ... really....

A game which encapsulated the last 18 months. Clueless.

I am certain we’d still have lost badly even with 11 men.

Over to you INEOS.

Love a good crisis. The irony being some Spurs fans were really getting behind the idea of sacking Ange.

Just shows you how tight margins in football are.

Total waste of time until the manager is sacked, feel sorry for anyone wasting their money on this.
So glad I don't make the 7 hour round trip these days.
Nothing more depressing than a miserable tram then drive back stewing on it.

Think that's that for ETH. He may cling on simply til next weekend with it being a busy week, but after the Villa game there's a short gap with the internationals. Hard to see him staying on after that. Honestly, it would feel cruel keeping him on. He looks lost.

Biggest issue was a simple lack of belief and commitment from the first whistle. That supersedes any issues with formation and personal form. If the team can't go out and make a full effort for the cause they're never going to win. I wouldn't say the team has outright downed tools, but they sure as hell don't believe in the project. Without that, nothing he can do will work.

I understand the approach the management took with regards to keeping ETH. And there a lot to be said about how the club’s previous senior managers made things harder for ETH. He isn’t the sole architect of this mess. However Ineos need to be wary about the club heading into a downward spiral mid-season. I think it's the right time for him to go.

Nah, you don't give him the chance. 2 decent performances and people will say he's turning things around. You strike whilst the iron is hot, that's the mistake we made last season. Utd fans are fickle. Used to managers being supported, so will always look for an excuse to back the manager.

Are we buying players based on five minute clips of their best bits, or do we still send out scouts to actually watch them play a few games?
GEnuine question, because we seem to have paid top sums for Championship level players

I think we'd actually have had a real go at getting back into that one if we'd got to the second half just 1 down and with 11 men.
But we'll never know now.

Red card or not, the way the game went, we were always going to get battered.

No way out from this for ten Hag. He has to go

Pathetic first half from us and referee/VAR.

Dalot and Rashford should be ashamed of their performence. TenHag needs to find some solution quick or he will soon be out of the door. Like previous managers.

Just utter dreadful. Right from the off, that goal set the tone. There were a few chances to get on the score sheet but Spurs deserved their win.

I think the sack is looming for ETH now. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him go tomorrow morning.

Totally.
On another day we put a strong 2nd half in, get back in the game, win it, and the doubts about Ten Hag are put on ice again.

The biggest worry, on top of everything is it doesn't take much to totally throw our players off.

We can be on top, concede and the players' heads are gone.

The only thing I will say in favour of ten Hag at this point is that half of our fans vastly overrate our front 3. Mid table level.

I've supported ETH for a long time but it must be time to change at this point, 7 games and we haven't got going.

Question is what top manager is available that can build long term success?
Considering how poor we are right now, I think that’s the wrong question (and I hope that’s not the question Ineos are asking). All we need right now is a manager capable of making us better than the sum of the parts. It could even simply be an interim manager until the summer and then we reassess available options. We just can continue with this, we are in free fall.

This has been like an FA Cup third round game against non-league opposition for Spurs. A comfortable 3-0 with the other team trying but not even getting close.

Sack him, get RVN as interim. Get McKenna at end of season. Simple as that: his Ipswich play better football than United.

I am guilty of thinking that performances were improving but that there is inexplicable

McKenna is a great building block towards their seemingly stated 2027-2028 title push. Enough time for him to fail. Enough time for him to do a good job, and be replaced by better if it looks like he can’t quite kick on at the highest level.

We’d need to buy players for his profile (many at the club seem to fit it). And ALSO identify 3-5 similar managers that could replace him if he isn’t successful enough.

No more of this lurching from disaster to crisis. A solid 5 year plan.

This needs to end. Enough is enough.

Yes some pathetic performances from our players, but we all know who is responsible.

Sack him this early in the season and perhaps all isn’t lost yet for this year

Shocking performance, one of worst I've seen from us. Definitely one of the worst under Ten Hag. Obviously we knew the game would be a write off after the red, but there was nothing positive about the performance before that.

Only player that I could any credit to would be Onana. Without him it's an even bigger score. We were actually let off lightly in terms of the scoreline really.

Grim times. Not sure how, but we need to pick ourselves up from here. I agree with others who have said the excuses are running out.

I think we’re now in the end game for ETH. That was simply abysmal.

It's very hard to see any positives.

Bruno thinks there are many good thing we can take away??

What actually are ETHs tactics. Aside from a left back which we don't have and Hojlund up front, that was a starting XI that should be competitive. HOW are we so porous?

Bruno is the only person to volunteer and come out for a Sky interview? It must be curtains for ETH… maybe sooner than we think?

And goes against the few times we’ve looked decent this season. When we slowed it down and kept the ball against Palace we looked much the better for it.
Yes, but even then we only really looked decent against shit teams. Spurs were never going to give us the same amount of time on the ball that we had against Southampton, Barnsley and Palace, so this and the next few matches were always going to be the test.

Objectively one of the worst redcards I've ever seen. Bruno's heel makes contact rather than his studs, atrocious refereeing.

Regardless, we deserved nothing, we were piss poor. No style, no passion. 11 headless chickens. And it's all on ETH. I've been vacking him since day one, but entering your third year and having YOUR team play like this, without any structure at all, you just need to admit defeat.

Sad times.

I wish this were the case but it really looks very bad for us at the moment. How can CBs attack us like that two games in a row.

Rashford was so poor in that phase of play and took out 6 of our players. Our defenders seem to want to attack more than defend. Dalot jogging back and covering 15 yards when their CB covered 60 is complete bollocks

It really feels like we have rinse repeated the latter days of LVG, Mou and Ole again. There’s an acceptance the manager should go but then how can the players get away with what they have put on the pitch. Spurs didn’t play that well, there’s not a huge amount of complexity to what they do, we just were categorically not up for the off the ball work required.
