Manchester United 0:3 Tottenham Hotspur

Post-match discussion

Sun, 29 September 2024

Even the most deluded bastad on the cafe couldn't have thought we'd get utterly tonked at home by a Son less Tottenham.

I'm trying to decide if the red card makes it better or worse. Probably buys the manager a stay.

As bad as it gets.First half should've been 3 down at least.
It feels like the end game for EtH.

First half performance was enough for me.
Had we mustered a result, wouldn't have been enough

One of the worst halves under Ten Hag

Thank you, but it's time to go

Not many players in this team that you can like these days.

Ten Hag is done, but Bruno, Rashford, Casemiro, Martinez need a long look in the mirror and should be gone soon as well

That first 45 minutes is the worst of the ETH reign. Just absolutely battered from start to finish. By Spurs. fecking Spurs.

Horrendous performance and result.

Genuinely only positives are potentially that results in the manager being removed from his position. Also, Bruno is now suspended.

Heh

We've been more successful than anyone besides City

heh

RVN until end of season please. Need another transition year, 8th place and maybe next year we can break the top 6. Right now it's just bleak, 8 conceded, 5 scored, 7 points in the league.

Laughably there will be STILL some utd fans that think they need to see if given more time he can turn this around!

He was always bang average but somehow managed to pull the wool over fans eyes by his excuses.

Doesn't even matter who. Just sack this shite coach and start your search while we have a random interim in the meantime. Let it be clear that we are at least searching.
We should get an ex cult hero player in as caretaker or something to improve morale.

Or maybe a 1990s coach who didn't win any trophies but who apparently created one of the most effective styles of football in Europe.

Our joint worst start to a PL season. Only Southampton have scored less goals than us. I suspect INEOS will keep him until after Villa and sack him then but ideally I'd prefer to just give it to Ruud for Porto and Villa and get the proper replacement in then

Brief spell where we got slightly better in the 2nd half but that first half was terrible.

Terrible passing and players that seemed to always leave it to someone else. Dalot was terribly bad.

Hate this team. Only watch out of habit. Brings me no happiness at all.

We're lucky Werner couldn't score in Ibiza with an arse packed with ketamine or that could have been a proper thumping.

The trend of the match was obvious as soon as we saw the line-up that ETH put out. Spurs would dominate the ball and control the general play and we would try to hit them on the counterattack. The only question was whether it would work. On another day it might have, but it's embarrassing that our 'playstyle' lets so many teams control things against us. Relying on counterattacks is always going to be more inconsistent than actually controlling things ourselves, but that's never going to happen with this manager.

Zero chance he gets sacked. Bruno gave him the ultimate get out of jail free card.

"We were down to ten men, I couldn't implement my tactics"

We don't want to be seen as a club that doesn't back the manager!

Hes got to go. That simple. A quick decision is necessary for the season ahead

I've supported ETH for a long time but it must be time to change at this point, 7 games and we haven't got going.

Question is what top manager is available that can build long term success?
We don't need a manager to build long term success! That was the whole point of overhauling the entire team that works above the manager (head coach)

"It was a good performance. I thought we did some good things, but, ah, the, ah, sending off was the turning point..."

I really hope the red card and playing with 10 men don't dominate the discussion here or wider reactions. We were absolutely terrible, in every way, playing with 11 men. Must be one of the worst first halves I've seen recently. The 1-0 up to that point did not tell the story.

Even before the red card, we were outplayed. That first Spurs goal? Absolute stupidity from Garnacho and Rashford, compounded by the fact that our midfield and defense is a sieve and further compounded by the fact that our goal keeper can't be arsed covering a potential crossing opportunity.

Not sacking in the summer was an absolute killer.

It was clear towards the end of last seaosn the players had lost faith in ETH's tactics, but the FA Cup win saved him.

I dont think theres anyway he turns this around now.

Not many top managers available at the moment, but anyone will do at this point. We need that new manager bounce, even if its until the end of the season.

"Monstrous result" says Neville. There lies a problem. Why monstrous ? 3-0 with a team built from European second league starters and reserves from European top league players! What you get is mid to lower PL standard.
