We used to have a lot of very good players but poor managers and poor tactics. Now I feel we have some tactics and good manager, but we have almost no good players.
Got to agree with this, the amount of players we have that can’t seem to do the basics is unreal.
Yup. It’s the exact same as what we were saying in the second half of the 2021-22 season. It’s an endless cycle. It’s like a nightmare from which one cannot wake up.Half of this squad needs to be sold and it is the truth. Antony, Casemiro, Eriksen, Lindeloft, Rashford, Dalot, Shaw, Malacia, Sancho, Bruno, Onana, Mount ( I don't know what does he bring) Hoijund and Garnacho are not starting XI material. Ineos and Amorim has a huge job to move these players out where 50% was bought by ETH.
Cause Antony is awful in every position we’ve tried him in.We rotated a lot. I hope that results in us having fewer injuries over the season.
Dalot needs to get binned. Why aren't we trying Antony as LWB?
Different manager, same bollocks.
True. They have indeed been flying high this season. The optimist in me says that this is just a learning curve. And I really hope that it just is. I hope that we can look back upon this ultimately as a blip. It's not great, but that comment doesn't give the context of Forest being relatively strong this season and us being the opposite. Whilst it's factually correct, you said that like we were playing a team in the relegation zone.
It's annoying, but the likes of us and Spurs have dropped another level, while a lot of teams in league that we feel entitled to turn up and beat have become a lot better. It's not an easy league at all now and there will be more results like this along the road.
We could have played till Christmas without scoring. 2-3 minutes extra would not have made any differenceAlso the officials can once again feck off. They kill the momentum in the game due to their shite technology then have the nerve to only add 7 minutes on at the end when there was clearly more stoppage time than that and the ref blows on exactly 97. Pricks the lot of them.
The recruitment has got beyond terrible. It’s nearly a 100% hit on flops. Even in the Summer I was thinking surely we change it round but wow, Zirkzee wouldn’t start for Forest. We used to have a lot of very good players but poor managers and poor tactics. Now I feel we have some tactics and good manager, but we have almost no good players.
I only saw the concepts of a plan.It wasn’t all bad, I guess. At least you can see the plan.
If you keep picking the players who’ve been a problem for years then you got till the end of the seasonYeah, because these players are clearly not the problem.
Not with Onana doing the ocky cocky on the half way line. What an idiot he looked. We could have played till Christmas without scoring. 2-3 minutes extra would not have made any difference
I’ve heard that before…always after we get a new managerIt’s literally going to take 4 transfer windows and about £800m to get us challenging for top 4 !
I've complained about the team but that doesn't mean I can't complain about the officials being incompetent at their jobs.So many things to pick upon and you chose to complain about the ref. Give this set of players another half they won’t win
The whole sequence is actually mad when you truly pay attention to every single thingAgreed, I just couldn’t be bothered writing it down, Martinez is equally to blame , who just watches the ball bounce in and do nothing about it.
That's not the point. We could have played till Christmas without scoring. 2-3 minutes extra would not have made any difference
Tbf if he had knees bent and arms out he might have saved a shot…Not with Onana doing the ocky cocky on the half way line. What an idiot he looked.
He’s probably been a top 3 performer this season. Today was possibly his worst mistake yet…even including last year…but he’s been very good for us so far this season. What Onana did today was unforgivable and it should be the last straw. I'd immediately make Bayindir first choice till the end of the season no matter what happens. I'd transfer list Onana in January and sign a keeper in the summer. Enough is enough.
That’s the thing. If it was a one off we could write it off. But this team has been giving up soft, inexplicable goals consistently for the last couple years. There is a mindset problem. Players switch off too easily and at important junctures. At half time we had 73% possession and limited them to one shot on target, the header that went in.
Having equalised and completely dominated we were looking strong and likely to go on and win it. How the second half went the way it did I’ll never know.
Despite the disarray, they were such soft goals to concede. Forest had three shots on target the whole game, they all went in with our keeper making a grand total of zero saves.
Agree with all of this. The issue wasn't the formation, or the structure. The structure :-
Allowed Dalot to get the ball in a lot of space very often
Allowed passing options for every player in every phase
Allowed for plenty of numbers in defensive transition
Allowed for options for Rasmus to play off
The issue was the players and them continually making very, very basic passing mistakes and decisions that all professional players at this level should be required to be able to achieve consistently. No matter how much beneficial framework you place around them, if they can't accurately make 5-10 yard passes without turning them into throw-ins, corners and counter-attacks, you are doomed.
not trying to defend ETH. He was not cut out for Premier league but along with him, players that he brought and the old guard needs to be replaced. He was a major problem. Look at the squad and see how many of those players are his signings. Now, think about how much he spent on some of them? Because we sure as he'll can't spend our way out of this due to him.
Almost as if he recruited some of the worst players I have ever seen at United and how no plan for how he wanted the team to play resulting in a scattergun approach to the players brought inAlmost as if Ten Hag wasn't the sole problem.
Almost as if Ten Hag wasn't the sole problem.
It’s quite amazing that we still come off second what in terms of fitness and energy nearly every game. All our managers bleat on about it but nothing changes. The players are on their journey and nothing can distract them from their goal (or perpetual mediocrity).Credit to Forest, from the off they looked like beasts ready to exploit us. Possession can only do so much and we've been dismantled by much fitter and stronger players.
We're too busy making the game look very difficult.
the likes of Mazraoui and Ugarte give me some hope that recruitment in the future will be betterThe recruitment has got beyond terrible. It’s nearly a 100% hit on flops. Even in the Summer I was thinking surely we change it round but wow, Zirkzee wouldn’t start for Forest.
