Post-match discussion

Decision making and concentration is just horrendous at times. Formation, tactics, instructions, etc. mean nothing when we can't defend a set piece, Bruno gives the ball away freely, and Onana makes that mistake.

Can’t argue it wasn’t a fair result over 90 mins.

For us, not a great second half. But I thought the first was generally decent.

Some questionable subs you can put down to experimentation.

Overall I’m whelmed with what I’m seeing from Amorim. We look like we’re making big changes, and it’s not going to go seamlessly.

Our players are so dumb, they make the wrong decision countless times.

Decent first half but horrific second half.

Onana - Terrible for the 2nd goal, still to slow to progress the ball, his long ball distribution is terrible and the last minute free kick fiasco sums up his IQ
Martinez - simply having a very poor season and looking like a liability
Dalot - One of the most brain dead players I’ve ever seen, he still doesn’t know the concept of weighted passes/crosses
Mainoo - Not as good as some people think
Bruno - Just too many sloppy passes that either ruin a good attack or put the defence into trouble
Hojlund - Needs to develop fast, hold up play and bringing others in to play is below average
Rashford - Rubbish
Mount - Zero confidence and not bringing anything to the team except pressing

I could go on but why bother.

Not only are a lot of these players just not good enough, they compound it even further by being stupid and have no fight.

The keeper just continues to have a nightmare performance just waiting up his sleeve, Dalot needs to be replaced and we need a proper centre back that can pass out from defence quicker than someone in the late stages of rigor mortis.

Next City away, then a very perky Bournemouth who could beat us at home.

Firmly stuck in the Bottom half, where we’ll be in January after being demolished by the scummy scousers.

I have no criticism for Amorim at all. The players let him down massively today. Brain dead decision making all over the pitch. Two clangers from Onana. Rashford and Garnacho contributed nothing. Hojlund was totally out matched by their centre backs.

That is seriously disappointing. The goals we conceded were just so poor in terms of defending and individual errors. Conceding those at key times killed us really and we were never able to build up a head of steam.

Zero character. Zero knowledge. Zero talent. What to expect. Our managers try their best but they are not magicians.

Totally deserve to lose. When I see this team sacrificing attack for possession with CB having most touches than midfielders. I cannot understand why Dalot is started over Mazrouai, Dalot always has brain fart almost every game, makes wrong decision most time, taking shots that never trouble the keeper. Why on earth do we keep passing in our half and lose possession with the slightest of pressure? Everyone is guilty especially our captain. Stupid decision and passes always ends up with goals. We again conceded a goal from corner and almost conceded another with woodwork saving us. I hope to see these players no longer with United or on the bench. Amorim will be sack because of these players.

Onana at fault for goal 2 and had a hand in goal 3 too. It’s a shame as he’s looked better this year. Dalot awful especially his decision making, why is he shooting from stupid areas? Not sure what Hojland brings to the team other than the odd goal, always looks lost

Trust the process...

Learned a few things in this one: Yoro is going to be an excellent player for us, Ugarte can thrive in this system, Dalot Maguire Onana Garnacho can't rub together two brain cells between the 4 of them. Every time a flick or backheel fails, our player should get fined $100,000, we gave the ball away needlessly so many times because player A expected player B to be psychically tuned in to whatever hidden designs were running through their skull.

What in the feck was Onana doing this game? Reaction speed of a drugged yak.

Dalot is a trier but is not a wingback.

Maguire gave the ball away repeatedly after some good defensive work, and that's a hallmark of his game. Maguire and Dalot need shipping out.

2-3 is fairly accurate although we bossed the first half. Shat the bed in the 2nd half. Højlund looked totally gassed, Rashford ineffective as an "impact" sub, Mount went missing.

Even for the 3rd goal, Onana was very suspect

Well shit... What a game, very cagey, we never really got a grip of the game. I think Mainoo was too passive today but NFO blocked the middle really well, shame that we didn't manage to make proper use of our wingbacks today. Defensive errors cost us the game, individually, pretty mixed. Didn't like Martinez too much, Dalot eager but ineffective. Amad only came to life in 2nd half, Hojlund rather invisible. Bruno was a bit mixed, shows the state of the club when his involvement in goal 1, a 0815 onetouch pass gets so much recognition. But he executed it really well, also his involvement in 2nd goal from pass to finish was very well done, even though I think, Amad did the heavy lifting by keeping the ball. Probably wouldn't have subbed Bruno off, even though I like to see it happen for once - think it should have been Mainoo getting the hook. We are missing technical ability all over the pitch unfortunately, too many players take too many touches. Don't think we played badly at all but certainly not better than the opponent who looked like more in the battle then we were.

Fecking play players in their best position.
Amad at 10, maz at rwb e.t.c
How long will it take for him to realize that dalot is not a lwb?

Also feck this spineless, brainless squad

I've said it for a long time and I will say it again: When will people realize that the manager isn't the problem?

Moyes, van Gaal, Mourinho, Solskjaer, Rangnick, Ten Haag and now Amorim - yet none of them turned United into a powerhouse again, despite several of them being highly successful at multiple other big clubs (van Gaal, Mourinho).

The problem starts at the very top and this poor culture trickles down and infects everyone else.

Thought Rashford was decent so that's a positive I suppose. Bruno sub was odd, did Ruben say anything about it?

I expected 4 points out of our four fixtures (Arsenal, Forest, Tottenham, City) as I know we're bad partially because Amorim prefers 3-4-3 without the suitable players (i wrote about his suicidal tactics earlier) now i don't even expect 4 anymore. I'd be surprised if we could get a point against Tottenham and City even if they are in bad form. Ten Hag's ghost haunted us, his idea was to sign Onana who is absolutely ridiculous, big saves and even bigger mistakes. Well, before the season i predicted 7-8th place, apparently i was way too optimistic. If Amorim keeps forcing the 3-4-3 we won't finish in the top 10.

just waiting for they're inevitable tweets about how they need to do better and will fight for the badge blah blah blah

Defence is trash and we're not scoring goals regularly if we only have Rasmus and Zirkzee to rely on. Both are terrible, let's be honest.

Some players had a bad game today, others are consistently awful. Rashford can do one. Did absolutely nothing again. Doesn't matter where he plays.

As I said when he joined, Amorim will have to win me over, it's not just about results in the short term, it's about making impactful decisions for the future based on results he's not getting now. I'll judge him on that because I can't imagine he's looking at this team thinking the majority of them can step up how he needs for his sytem to be successful

And it's not about changing his system to accommodate this terrible group of players. They'll have to sink or swim in it.

Mazraoui is our best defender.
We have no idea what to do when Bruno is not playing.
We need to getaway from playing with a single point of dependency.
I think Yoro will pip him to that title, although Maz is a different kind of player given license to get forward.

The issue wasn't the formation, or the structure. The structure :-

Allowed Dalot to get the ball in a lot of space very often
Allowed passing options for every player in every phase
Allowed for plenty of numbers in defensive transition
Allowed for options for Rasmus to play off

The issue was the players and them continually making very, very basic passing mistakes and decisions that all professional players at this level should be required to be able to achieve consistently. No matter how much beneficial framework you place around them, if they can't accurately make 5-10 yard passes without turning them into throw-ins, corners and counter-attacks, you are doomed.

The difficulty for Amorim is working out who is good but broken, and who isn’t good enough. That’s an incredibly difficult job, because standards have fallen so far in every single way in the past decade.

That's actually a really good point.

We are far too pedestrian in the build up. Infuriating to watch.

Watching De Ligt with the ball at his feet is like watching grass grow.

Onana is completely useless. Makes far more howlers than decent saves.

Dalot is impotent in attack and has no redeeming qualities.

Mainoo has gone into his shell this season.

Hojlund is not good enough to lead the line. Even Chris Wood looked better than him today.

What is the point of Mount? He has brought nothing to the team.

Rashy made 0 impact and the sooner we get his wages off the accounts the better.

Nottingham were just here to waste time today after getting their quick fire goal. They didn’t test the keeper at all apart from their weak attempts at goal which we should’ve kept out.

Amorim really needs to give the squad both barrels. Simply not good enough.

Old Trafford just seems to exist for the enjoyment of opposition players and fans at this point.

No belief in the place whatsoever.

The one positive from the game was Amorim having the bollocks to sub Fernandes off as on the ball he’s the most wasteful player I’ve ever seen at United, yes the occasional flick or Hollywood ball comes off but 1 in 50 is an awful ratio and I couldn’t give a feck what anyone says about how ‘creative’ he is but the reality is he has such a poor footballing IQ and lacks pretty much any awareness.

Honestly outside of Yoro, Mazraoui, Ugarte, Mainoo, Diallo and Hojlund I wouldn’t care less to see any of the squad sold and thanks to a combination of a clueless board and ETH we’re back to having a squad packed with deadwood and dross so I actually feel bad for Amorim as it’ll take him 18 months to get anywhere near what he’d like squad wise.

It’s literally going to take 4 transfer windows and about £800m to get us challenging for top 4 !
