Post-match discussion

Think we are at the bottom, or at least one of the lowest, in the league in terms of distances covered during the game. They are a lazy, passive bunch. There's no doubt about it.
The not running would be fine if they were all stellar passers, but they can't pass the ball five yards. If you are not great at passing then you have to put the leg work in. Oh and they are gutless cowards, have I said that.

I’m not fuming, but just very disappointed with how we’re going backwards again. There’s something very wrong going on with our coaching, as with this collection of attacking talent, we should be beating shite like Newcastle convincingly. There’s bad days and then there’s what we currently are. A team with all of the attacking talent in the world that doesn’t have a clue how to attack.
Agreed here. Trouble is, we can't expect Mourinho to see this.

We completely lack cohesion, that has to be a coaching issue. Now Sanchez comes in and we are still ineffective. I swear we get Neymar and the same thing happens. It's down to the coaching imho.

Tony martial!! Future world player of the year:wenger::lol:
His typical poor game, distinct lack of drive, determination and quality when it matters. So now the "crap left back"excuse has gone I'm sure there will be one for the right popping up in the near future.

On a positive note I thought lukaku and Sanchez linked up really well having only played a couple of games together, they look like they have been playing together longer than martial and lukaku!

Newcastle putting in their one good performance of the season, none of our players able to finish and us having a Smalling on the pitch never bodes well. We do seem to be going backwards which is really worrying. Absolutely no fight in this team either.

crap tactics , unfit players, players that dont deserve a 1st team spot picked ahead of others, could go on and on. Two awful defeats on the trot with little attacking play to show. Will be an interesting run in now

Very, very poor. Wasteful (which is far from a new problem). Lazy. Uninspired. I could go on. No positives from this one.

Pogba was a joke. I don’t know if he’s injured, but he was absolutely dire. Didn’t mark his man, leading to the goal. Rightfully hauled off again.

The only thing worse will be Mata’s mind-numbingly lame blog, where he’ll talk about how hard the team worked, how they’re disappointed to have dropped points, and how they’ll try to pick themselves up and move on to the next game...but “hugs” apparently make everything okay.

We weren’t good enough, but there is a huge slice of bad luck in this result.
feck luck we are just shit

Some people will call this knee jerk, but I genuinely feel that a more positive thinking manager could be getting much more out of this crop of players.
Without a doubt. Managers with lesser pedigrees manage to get instant reaction from a set of much worse players. It cannot just be about buying players, it's a bit of a joke.

Shocking ‘performance’ can’t remember our last entertaining match.

Honestly that was shite from start to finish.

Lukaku is frustrating to watch. Pep prefer Jesus and Aguero and Jose prefer Costa and Lukaku. I guess we won't be winning the EPL as long as Pep is around. Martial should either be on the bench to left. Sanchez should either be left or centre. I don't know why Jose is not utilizing the players at his disposal. I also mentioned that we should be Moura, 25mil is nothing to Man Utd when you have 90mil striker who underperforming.

Worst performance from a man utd team ever,, both manager and too many players at fault.
Pogba doesn't seem to have the correct mentality to be a top footballer, and too much mediocrity within the team.
The midfield should have been strengthened many summers ago and we missed an opportunity this January as well. Mourino has got to play a three man midfield, with two decent defenders, Linguard is not a midfielder and Carrack has been past his best for a few years now.

Mourinho just said there is nothing wrong with Pogba....he looked like he was sick to me...flu or something...looked dead sitting there on the bench after the sub.

piss poor from first minute...pogba needs to wake up. I actually think the guy is a complete arsehole. Totally self indulgent and more interested in dabbing and haircuts that being a united player. We also need to get shot of smalling and jones. not united quality and never have been.

Shocking misses by Martial. Credit to Newcastle. They defended well and had a bit of luck. If you don't take your (easy) chances you don't deserve anything.

Meh. Not too angry or saddened as I had very low expectations for this game.

Same old shit. No cohesion in attack. They look like they've hardly trained together.

But if Martial had taken his chances people wouldn't be talking about "Jose out" etc.

I know it's a game of opinions and I am not saying he was sh*te but the forum voted Lukakau MOTM????? From what I recall he was non existent after half time won zero headers, no shots on goal, no defence splitting passes, no great link up play. If that is a MOTM performance then we are in deeper sh*T than I thought!

Pogba
Smalling is just shit. Had absolutely Sanchez and Martial should have scored pretty much easy.

And wtf was wrong with Pogba, looks sad feck! Top four in danger and its fecking far from sure. We still have some tough games coming.

Pogba was injured in the warm up. Clearly wasn't fit and should have sat it out. That said...big boss stubbornly stuck to his 2 man midfield and trying to shoehorn Martial into the right. I give up...

I have a feeling that we might be over taken by one of Chelsea, Liverpool or Tottenham by end of the season if we keep playing like this.

Shambles...wrong tactics...no idea how to attack and luck was not on our side.. basically cant wait for the season to finish just like the past 5 years

I don't give a feck if Mourinho leaves in the summer to be honest. There's simply no way that we should look clueless on the pitch in 90% of the games we play after the money we've spent and after how long Mourinho's been here.

On Pogba. Again. Getting to the point where I don't give a feck if he stays or not. He hasn't been good enough in his time here and can apparently only play in 1 system and we look horrendously unbalanced in any other system. He has to show he is good enough to build around him first before we actually fully commit to that, and I'm beginning to doubt that.

On Lukaku. Yeah he did "alright". Ish. But that's Lukaku. He'll get goals now and then. He'll have decent bits of play. Is he or will he ever be on the same level as what our main strikers under Sir Alex were? Not in a million years. He is way too limited, wish we never bought him and he's another one of those where he'll just hold a spot and hold us back until we get a more dynamic striker that won't limit us like he does.
May put your post in a plaque and frame it! Can't disagree with anything you said. I can only add that lingard is not a good player, scored a couple of goals on a run but should not be in the first 11!

No great fan of Lukaku but today is not the day to put the boot into him. He was our best player today.
We have huge problems in defence and midfield, he was the least of our problems.

That's on the manager for me.. injured or unwell Pogba left on the pitch far too long, Rojo should have played - Jones and Smalling can't play out from the back and slow everything down together they're a comedy act and make us easy to press. Shaw should have played. Poor attacking options on the bench. Players looking like they don't know where to play up front and poor link up play and lack of off the ball movement. What's happened to Herrara ? I don't see any improvements in all the problems we've had for weeks isn't this a world class manager supposedly ?? AND Martial would have scored that chance from the bloody left !

I think I would've rathered not signed Sanchez if I'm honest, its totally stifled Martial and ruined the balance and efficiency of our attacking play, going forward we've looked shit since we signed him.
We have unfortunately....:(

Notice at one point with Lingard, instead of confidently doing what he was recently, he's hesitating and constantly looking for Sanchez I feel... everyone needs to settle down.

Looking forward to the dozen threads about how this and that should change, we are shit, Pogba should be sold, Lukaku should play for Swansea etc.

We've played like this many times before and won. We had plenty of chances today and the ball just wouldn't go in. That is football and Newcastle away was never going to be an easy trip.

Lukaku was one of our best players today. Only he and Sanchez seemed bothered about playing football. His link up play and control has massively improved over last couple of months. Pogba was a joke today, heard he was injured but he's been dire for about 70% of the games he has played for us since we spent 80m quid on him which could of homed all the uks homeless people.

I don't care if he was one of our best players today. I'm saying he isn't a Manchester United striker. Yes he wasn't our big problem today but he can't take the game by the scruff of the neck and score a goal out of nothing. In the end he will be a failure like Berbatov was.
