Theres serious structural flaws in this team. We have some fantastic individuals but we're not playing as a team. Why are we passing for the sake of it at the back when we're behind.peaky

I think I’m entering LVG stages of «can’t be arsed» soon. We were absolutely second best at everything today. Losing to the better team is ok, losing because you think you’re better and having a shit attitude should honestly get you fired as a player. Appaling attitude from the group of guys out there today

I don't give a feck if Mourinho leaves in the summer to be honest. There's simply no way that we should look clueless on the pitch in 90% of the games we play after the money we've spent and after how long Mourinho's been here.

On Pogba. Again. Getting to the point where I don't give a feck if he stays or not. He hasn't been good enough in his time here and can apparently only play in 1 system and we look horrendously unbalanced in any other system. He has to show he is good enough to build around him first before we actually fully commit to that, and I'm beginning to doubt that.

On Lukaku. Yeah he did "alright". Ish. But that's Lukaku. He'll get goals now and then. He'll have decent bits of play. Is he or will he ever be on the same level as what our main strikers under Sir Alex were? Not in a million years. He is way too limited, wish we never bought him and he's another one of those where he'll just hold a spot and hold us back until we get a more dynamic striker that won't limit us like he does.

We are shit; there's no fight, no passion. They don't care. The moment Newcastle scored I said to my dad 'we're beaten', and so it proved. That was an embarrassment, against a side that can't win at home. I'm fed up with the attitude of the players.

Newcastle deserved it. If United fought with half their passion, they would be leading the charts

Liverpool and Spurs are going to fly past us at this rate; we better hope Chelsea don't pick up the pace. Really gutted with this result, we're looking less and less convincing recently.

All these people saying Mourinho to go

He puts a side out that should be beating a relegation battling team. His tactics were fine and Martial,Sanchez and Lukaku should be doing much better in front of goal.

Van gaal, moyes or SAF wouldn’t of made any difference today.

Mourinho is still winless at St. James' Park in the Premier League. What is up with that?!

Depressing game that. Pogba clearly injured and insult was literally added to his injury by him being so deep again. Messi Lingard was just messy today. Sanchez and Lukaku were good.

Martial looked indifferent but could have had a hat trick on another day. I actually gave up after he was was double-blocked by Gayle (?) on the line. We were never going to score there on a day like that.

We weren’t good enough, but there is a huge slice of bad luck in this result.

What an terrible performance as a team, passing was off today and it seemed like there was not enough drive in the middle.

So sluggish, our midfield is shambles, wth is wrong with it? Pogba has become very average. We had Carrick and Mctominay at the end, i think it really tells that Mourinho saw that its not working at all. We could have scored (Martial had good chances and Sanchez had empty net, but not this time, no luck in there :( ) but it was not the reason we lost this game. We are so far away from being a consistent good team. Man united should not be wavering against a top half team.

Lets hope we can be better.

Games like these happen every season, problem is this season the race for top four is tougher than ever and City are bulldozing their way to the title, so it's more damaging then ever.

Very disappointing performance but we move on.

Bad game, but we didn't deserve to lose.

Martial and Sanchez had great chances. Sanchez for some reason stopped when he just needed to pass into an empty net!

They had one real chance, one of those complete pure lucky set piece situations where the ball has to fall right to a man with loads of space.
When it fell to Martial there were tonnes on the line, so quite a hard finish.

My take on the game is that our manager is as clueless as our players. He's past it and I have lost all faith in him. I'll support him while he's here but I couldn't wait any stronger for him to leave now.

Some people will call this knee jerk, but I genuinely feel that a more positive thinking manager could be getting much more out of this crop of players.

fecking owned by Shelvi and Diame. We are only second because our competitors has been pretty bad.
Not sure what Jose is doing. Just cant fecking beat a high press. How many times did we lump the ball up ? And What was the need of that midfield subs? He has no idea how to use Pogba . He is one of our best players who can do something rather than an 20 year old academy player who just broke into the team.

Carrick is past it and was worse than Matic.

I think Pogba was the weak link today. Having a key attacker play so poorly seemed to destabilise everyone else.

Not sure why he's like this. Unfit? Injured? Bit of both? Or just immaturity?
Souness said he is immature and he does appear to be a big kid, who has no tactical awareness. A world class midfielder would be comfortable in a midfield two or three. That we have to protect him says a lot.

Loads of things wrong (players and Jose).

Need a proper CM to release Pogba.... need 2-3 top defenders (instead of several average ones) ... need attacking players who have positive mentality and good technical ability to pass/interchange at speed .... need a team with better mental attitude.

And Smalling back at Fulham where he belongs.

Smalling is just shit. Had absolutely Sanchez and Martial should have scored pretty much easy.

And wtf was wrong with Pogba, looks sad feck! Top four in danger and its fecking far from sure. We still have some tough games coming.

So...same again. Good players, awfully average team. A team come out and play the way they've been prepared. The way they've been coached. Jose was a great manager. He's done now. Sure he can still hold it together to be decent. But he ain' taking us back to the top. No chance! Never seen a 'big' team so poorly coordinated. Like 11 strangers game after game. Better coaching would produce better with this bunch. Why go all out for Sanchez if you had no proper plan for using him?! We've een no better for him. Absolutely embarrassing we lost that game. Shite doesn' even start to describe it!

Really poor. Matic, Jones and in particular Smalling are so slow and safe with their passing that our attacking threat is stopped at source, our tempo today was a disgrace. The full backs were about 15-20 yards deeper than they needed to be, Shaw needs to start now, at least he overlaps.

Sanchez had a few quality moments and Lukaku's hold-up play was good, no threat in the box though really, Martial could have had a few, it's promising at least that he looks a threat from the right.

Pogba looked like he was playing at about 25%, we desperately need cover for him in the summer.

Mou will never learn - hope he goes to China in the summer. Just a mediocore coach nowadays with no(!) ability to adapt to modern football!

Fair play to that...I think everyone is to blame but Mourinho needs to take a serious look at himself and the way he has this team playing.
I'm extremely frustrated, might feel different tomorrow but at the same time I've never warmed to Mourinho completely. I wish he transforms our football into something coherent but there is zero chance of that happening. I genuinely think he's past it.

I hope all the lingard hype has now ended. Average player, don't deserve to start.

Lukaku's best game saved for when everyone else was garbage. He was very good today.

Do people still think Martial's best position is a centre forward? He's nowhere near as good in central positions as he is when bringing the ball in from the wide areas, mainly from the left. Botched two piss easy chances when he came in to the middle (which he seemed to do a lot as he doesn't seem to like playing on the right), and a third which was less easy but a top centre forward would at least hit the target. He should play wide left, or nowhere. He's nowhere near clinical enough in front of goal to be a 9. He's a dribbler first and foremost. BY far his best attribute.

I'm never one to bang the "game raising" drum, but Newcastle have looked truly hopeless every time I've seen them this season, and I bet they'll be back to being hopeless as soon as next week. The utterly brainless lunatic Shelvey danced around our midfield like young Patrick Vieira. Won every tackle and didn't waste a singe ball, completely unlike him.

Pogba in a midfield 2 is patchy at best. Hobbling 50% fit Pogba in a midfield 2 is disastrous. How did he last so long? How did he even start?

Another uninspiring performance from a soulless team.

It is a grind to watch Utd play these days. We have a team and a style that just takes the joy out of watching football , winning football can compensate for that. But we don't do much of that these days either.

How the hell are we still top 4? that probably tells us more about the quality of the premier league this season than it does about us.

I love Manchester United but i just cannot stand watching that group of players play for the club and turnout a display can only be described as pathetic and embarrassing. They should be ashamed of themselves, half-arsed attempt at trying to win a game. Mourinho is of course part to blame for this. Absolute state of our back four. If you have any aspirations of winning the league/CL that back four just ain't going to win you squat. Smalling should never play for us again. Those two yellow cards in the derby against city and now diving against Newcastle, just f off somewhere else.

Honestly think Mouriniho could have Neymar, Sanchez and De Bruyne behind Kane and we'd still have problems scoring. No attacking system means there is too many of 'those days'. They are so frequent because we have zero cohesion or composure because nobody has a clue what's going on. We have spent so much money in the last 5 years and not managed to get close to winning the league. We never ever will while we keep getting in defensive managers.

My entire post is serious apart from letting Sanchez leave. Obviously.

Feel sorry for him having to play for this team though. I’m not sure he appreciated how shit we are when agreeing to sign.

You feel sorry for a player who has the privilege to play for Manchester United. What on earth are you on about. He's been here a few weeks.

You are not a fan, you are a disgrace.

Judging by the responses in here, pretty good timing on that contract extension.

Jose has let down the fans. For weeks he has played a non existant midfield Matic aside and allowed our defense to be pressed into panic. 2/10 garbage is the norm now. Jose is stealing a living. Pogba refuses to grow up and play in a 2, and Jose refuses to play him in a 3, and at the end of the game today he had 3 deep CMs in a 3, 1 who should be retired and the other an ok academy product, and Smalling still on looking like a rugby player. What in gods name is Jose playing at.... every manager in the league must be loving this.

Jones and Smalling played under Fergie, Moyes, Lvg and now Mourinho, they were shit then but somehow managed to get theor contracts extended.

But lets not get away from the result being down to Maureen being so shit.

Jose totally got everything wrong today. Subs are awful, Martial can not play on the right.

We can't build from the back with those two clumsy oafs at CB, our striker is unable to hold up the ball and bring in runners and, in a 4-2-3-1 system, our FBs fail to contribute to the attack. To top it all off there is a total lack of passion in the side.

God, this place after we lose. Calm down people, it is not the end of the world.

feck that,
sell them all, sack them all. Bunch of overpaid primadonnas.

There, now, back to life, back to reality...
